Li Yue’s consciousness withdrew from the mental space. She felt fatigue surging over her bit by bit, but it seemed more important right now to reach the beacon given to her by the "Captain" before everyone else.
The Captain’s fleet might be able to delay the Royal Court’s ships, but it certainly wouldn't be a long-term solution. After all, the variables of naval combat were numerous. A fleet led by Great Mages moved at a speed that could not be underestimated; furthermore, for Great Mages familiar with sea battles, their vessels were often one of their artifacts, capable of both offense and defense.
However, Li Yue was currently alone and possessed the Death Abyss—a God's remains with powerful mobility that ignored terrain. Although it consumed mana and attracted sea monsters, its speed was incredibly fast.
The second point couldn't be called a total disadvantage, though. The Sea King class monsters drawn by her presence were cut down in an instant, subsequently becoming supplements to replenish Li Yue’s vitality.
“Just a bunch of seafood...” This was Li Yue’s quip after killing four Sea King class monsters. With such a replenishment of vitality, her condition had recovered significantly. At the very least, the massive exhaustion caused by her Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust technique had been filled. What mattered now was the race against time.
The beacon was somewhat far, but her current speed was much faster than the Captain’s ship. As for the Royal Court, they were likely behind her now, since she hadn't wasted much time in the temple.
Li Yue thought silently. As she moved at high speed within the Death Abyss, she suddenly felt a familiar aura. Her eyes immediately locked onto a creature moving rapidly in the far distance.
It was a bizarre-looking creature, somewhat resembling a swordfish but with a more streamlined body. From the front, however, it looked like a human face. Just as Li Yue was feeling puzzled, she noticed the figure charging toward her position.
“I’ve been spotted...” Li Yue frowned. “Then let’s fight.”
The Death Abyss wrapped around Li Yue’s small hands, covering her delicate fists like a thin layer of red hand wraps. She threw a punch fiercely at the strange creature, only to find the opponent’s form shifting rapidly. It returned a punch with a bizarre, underwater swimming-like posture.
The strange creature now looked somewhat humanoid, appearing like a strong man molded from white modeling clay. The only thing on his entire body that looked like normal clothing was the hat on his head.
A massive shockwave exploded underwater. Li Yue felt a sharp pain in her fist, and her entire arm went numb. The power of that punch just now was much stronger than she had imagined.
She leaped out of the water, only then realizing with shock that the creature before her didn't seem to belong to the category of marine life. Its form looked like the white-morphed Perfect Lifeform that Fen'ao had become.
“This is the perfect life you said you were pursuing?”
Li Yue smiled, but Fen'ao remained indifferent.
“That’s right. This is the crystallization of nature, the most perfect life, and the pinnacle of evolution...”
“What a joke, a rubber man made of white modeling clay.” Li Yue couldn't help but laugh, interrupting Fen'ao’s self-indulgent rant. Her blood sword quickly sliced through the air, cutting out a blade of deathly blood. The powerful force split the seawater and struck Fen'ao directly.
A white line appeared where he was cut, but it didn't seem like much of an injury. Just as Li Yue said, he was like a man made of modeling clay—what did it matter if he was sliced?
Li Yue was stunned. Her body, suspended in the air, momentarily stalled. In the next instant, that white monster actually grew a pair of white wings and reached Li Yue’s side in a flash. His lower body rapidly transformed, turning into a centaur-like shape as he delivered a violent back-kick toward Li Yue.
“What...” Li Yue was startled. She raised her blood sword and clumsily blocked the heavy strike. This blow was far heavier than the one she had suffered underwater; it caused all the bones in her arm to fracture. Fortunately, her flesh and blood were equally monstrous, and her regeneration speed was just as staggering.
She couldn't afford to get bogged down in a fight. If she wanted to counter him now, she would likely have to use her trump card. But his vitality was too strong; it was almost impossible for her to completely kill him within fifteen seconds, and after those fifteen seconds, she wouldn't even have a chance to escape...
What she had to consider now was how to resolve or stall the white-clay-morphed Fen'ao—or more accurately, the Fen'ao who had obtained the divine body—with the least amount of loss and cost.
It seemed the assistance she had just requested would have to be used now... She hoped they were reliable spells that could at least stall the opponent. They were a group of Great Mages, after all; she hoped they wouldn't disappoint her.
A casket and a strange object appeared in Li Yue’s hands. It had a square body and a peculiar piece of glass. Li Yue knew what it was and how to operate it. This was... a Camera?
