The God King sat in the divine temple, his expression grim.
Lilith’s words were still echoing in his ears.
“It can ignore time reversal.”
“I used time magic to restart my own state, but it seemed to remember what happened before the reversal. It changed its attack pattern and killed me.”
Ignoring time reversal.
How was that possible?
Time magic was one of the highest-tier forms of magic, operating on a rule-level. An entity that could ignore time reversal was either far more powerful than the caster, or... it transcended the rules of time itself.
Whichever it was, it meant the thing inside the Eternal Abyss was far more dangerous than he had imagined.
“This is troublesome.”
The God King rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
He had originally thought the Eternal Abyss merely sealed away some ancient beings—dangerous, yes, but still within a controllable range.
But now, it seemed things weren't that simple.
That shadow entity could ignore time reversal and even predict Lilith’s attacks; its strength was likely immense.
“I must find out what it is.”
The God King stood up, walked to the window, and looked toward the direction of the Eternal Abyss.
“It seems I'll have to go there myself.”
He took a deep breath, and his figure vanished instantly.
...
Before the gates of the Eternal Abyss.
The two rows of divine generals still stood there, spears in hand, their expressions solemn and their gazes sharp.
Suddenly, a flash of golden light appeared.
The God King’s figure materialized before the gates.
The divine generals were stunned for a moment before they all knelt in unison, not even daring to breathe loudly.
“Your Majesty!”
The leading divine general’s voice trembled; he clearly hadn't expected the God King to come in person.
The God King waved his hand.
“Open the gate. I am going in.”
The divine general did not dare to delay. He quickly stood up, pulled out a key, and opened the massive gates.
Boom!!!
The gates slowly groaned open, revealing the bottomless darkness within.
With a solemn look in his eyes, the God King stepped inside.
...
“Senior.”
He spoke, his voice echoing through the darkness.
“I have a favor to ask. Please, show yourself.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a figure slowly emerged.
It was an elderly man with white hair and a white beard. He had a kind face and wore simple gray robes, looking just like an ordinary old man.
But the God King knew this person was anything but ordinary.
He was the Guardian of the Eternal Abyss, a prominent figure who had existed long before the current God King had even taken the throne.
His strength was unfathomable.
“Your Majesty the God King.”
The elderly man spoke, his voice gentle and carrying a hint of a smile.
“What brings you to my humble abode today?”
The God King bowed respectfully.
“You joke, Senior. I have indeed come today because I have a favor to ask.”
The elderly man glanced at him and nodded.
“Speak then. What is it?”
The God King straightened up, looked at the old man, and spoke slowly.
“May I ask, Senior... exactly what kind of entity is sealed within the Eternal Abyss?”
Hearing this, the elderly man fell silent for a moment.
“That... even I am not entirely sure.”
He sighed.
“I only know that the presence within is exceptionally powerful. So powerful... that even I do not dare to lightly step inside.”
The God King frowned.
“Even you do not dare to enter?”
“Correct,” the elderly man nodded. “The Eternal Abyss is the end of the God Realm and its ultimate forbidden zone. The things sealed inside are things that shouldn't exist in this world. Although I am the Guardian, my duty is only to watch the gate—to prevent people from wandering in by mistake, and to prevent... the things inside from coming out.”
He paused and added, “As for what exactly is inside, I do not know. After all, I have never gone in.”
The God King understood.
It seemed even this Guardian was unaware of the specific situation inside.
“Then... before I arrived, did someone else come here?” the God King asked.
“A girl a few hundred years old, with white hair and red eyes, and she wasn't very tall.”
The elderly man thought for a moment and nodded.
“Indeed, she did. That girl wanted to go in. I advised her against it, and then she left.”
He paused, looking a bit puzzled. “Why? Did something happen to her?”
The God King gave a bitter smile.
“There is something you don't know, Senior. She wasn't persuaded to leave by your words.”
“Oh?”
“She had already died once. She only left after reversing time.”
The elderly man’s pupils constricted.
“She died once inside?”
“Yes,” the God King nodded. “According to her, the thing inside can ignore time reversal and even predict her attacks. She didn't even have a chance to resist before she was killed.”
The elderly man fell silent.
He stood there with his brow furrowed, seemingly lost in thought.
After a long while, he finally spoke slowly.
“Ignoring time reversal... how is that possible?”
“I also thought it was impossible,” the God King said. “But that is the reality. Though that girl is young, she is not weak. Even Orosius, who came to the God Realm to cause havoc recently, died at her hands. For something to kill her without even giving her a chance to fight back... the thing inside is likely far more dangerous than we imagined.”
The elderly man sighed.
“It seems I have underestimated the contents of this place.”
He looked at the God King. “So, Your Majesty, what do you intend to do?”
The God King pondered for a moment before saying, “I would like to ask for your help, Senior, to contact the remaining Primordial Gods of the God Realm.”
The elderly man was startled. “The Primordial Gods?”
“Yes,” the God King nodded. “Regardless of who it is, just one would be enough. Tell them that the current God King has run into trouble and needs assistance.”
The elderly man frowned. “The Primordial Gods have unpredictable temperaments and elusive movements. Moreover... they are very likely to refuse.”
The Primordial Gods were the oldest existences in the God Realm, predating even the God King. They were powerful but eccentric; some preferred seclusion, some loved to travel, and some had even left the God Realm entirely for other planes.
Contacting them was difficult.
Asking for their help was even harder.
“I know,” the God King said. “But in this situation, I can only ask for their intervention. If the thing in the Eternal Abyss can even ignore time reversal, its strength must be extraordinary. We likely cannot handle it on our own.”
The elderly man was silent for a moment, then nodded.
“Very well. I will try my best to contact them.”
He paused and added, “But I cannot guarantee I will reach them, nor can I guarantee they will come.”
The God King bowed respectfully. “I am in your debt, Senior.”
The elderly man waved his hand. “No need for such pleasantries. I am also a part of the God Realm; protecting it is my duty.”
He looked at the God King, his gaze turning serious.
“However, Your Majesty, I must give you a warning.”
“Please, speak, Senior.”
“The Primordial Gods are powerful, but we cannot fathom their thoughts,” the elderly man said slowly. “They might help, or they might simply stand by and watch. They might even... act against the God Realm.”
The God King felt a chill in his heart. “Senior, you mean...”
“I mean, do not pin all your hopes on the Primordial Gods,” the elderly man said. “They have lived too long and seen too much. Their attachment to the God Realm... might not be as deep as you think.”
The God King was silent for a moment, then nodded.
“I understand.”
He took a deep breath.
“Then I will leave the matter of contacting the Primordial Gods to you. I shall return and await your news.”
The elderly man nodded. “Very well.”
The God King bowed once more and turned to leave.
His figure vanished into the darkness, and the great gates slowly ground shut.
