“Twenty-fifth... twenty-sixth... Aaaah, I can't take it anymore!”
After clearing out two more low-ranks magical beasts, Lilith finally suffered a complete breakdown.
She clutched her hair with both hands, her expression one of utter collapse.
“How long is this going to take?! My vacation!”
She looked helplessly at the surrounding forest and the dense concentration of magical beasts.
“No, I can't keep going like this.” Lilith took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
“I need a more efficient method... I've got it! I can use super high-speed flight.”
Her eyes lit up.
That was it! Since she couldn't use wide-range AOE, she just had to increase her movement speed. As long as she was fast enough, her efficiency would skyrocket, wouldn't it?
She scanned the area to ensure no one was around, then used her magic perception to confirm the positions and numbers of the nearby magical beasts.
“Well then...” Lilith stood straight and extended her right hand.
A longsword condensed in her palm. She gripped the hilt and let out a soft breath.
In the next moment, with her as the center, everything in her surroundings began to move at an extremely slow pace. Lilith was preparing for super high-speed low-altitude flight.
“Phew... time to get to work.” Lilith weighed the magic longsword in her hand.
Before her voice even faded, her figure had already vanished.
In an instant, several afterimages appeared in the forest. Immediately after an afterimage passed, a magical beast would fall apart into pieces.
Like a silent reaper, Lilith began her high-speed mob clearing operation within the forest.
“Bush to the front-left, one Rank 2 magical beast.”
“Tree hollow to the back-right, a nest of five Rank 1 magical beasts.”
“Rocks on the opposite bank of the stream, one Rank 3 magic snake...”
Lilith began slaughtering the magical beasts with high efficiency. Whether they flew in the sky, ran on the ground, or swam in the water, every single one was cut down without exception.
Soon, two hours had passed.
...
“That should be all of them now,” Lilith said, coming to a halt.
She hovered in mid-air, spreading out her vast magic perception to scan for Demonic Energy in the vicinity.
Once, then twice.
“They're really gone... at least this area near the Royal City is clean.” Lilith breathed a sigh of relief. “Let me count... how many did I just clear?”
She recalled the images flashing through her mind.
“Rank 1s were... over six thousand? Rank 2s, about three thousand? Rank 3s... eight hundred? Rank 4s... huh? There were Rank 4s too? Looks like there were over a hundred? Rank 5s... twenty-something? Rank 6s... three?”
The more Lilith counted, the more surprised she became. The numbers were much higher than she had anticipated, and the ratio of high-ranking magical beasts wasn't low either.
Especially those above Rank 4; they already possessed considerable destructive power. If they had charged the Royal City in a pack, they likely would have caused significant casualties even with the elven guards there.
“Wait...” She suddenly remembered that while clearing an area near a deep mountain canyon, she seemed to have casually cut down a... big guy?
She had been moving too fast at the time. Sensing a surge of Demonic Energy, she had dashed over, delivered a single slash, and left immediately without taking a close look. Thinking back now, that thing's magic reaction seemed exceptionally strong, its body was particularly massive, and it felt different when she cut through it...
“It couldn't be...” Lilith's heart skipped a beat as she quickly searched her memory for the situation.
A blurry image flashed by: a massive figure hidden in the shadows of the canyon, its body covered in heavy rock armor, emitting a heart-palpitating pressure... Then, a flash of sword light, and the figure froze before silently splitting in two and crashing to the ground.
“That energy level...” Lilith's mouth twitched. “A Rank 7 magical beast?”
She had been in such a hurry that she hadn't bothered to identify it; she had just treated it like a speed bump and passed right through.
Now that she thought about it, if that thing had charged into the Elf Royal City, combined with its ability to manipulate the earth... it would have been an absolute disaster. The elves probably would have had to pay a heavy price to take it down.
She imagined the perspective of that Rank 7 magical beast: it was sleeping in its lair when a flash of light suddenly appeared, and it was inexplicably split in half, dying without even seeing its enemy.
“Tragic, simply tragic.” Lilith offered a second of insincere sympathy before cheering up again. “But it's for the best; it saved a lot of trouble. A Rank 7 magic crystal should be worth quite a bit, right? Too bad I seem to have shattered it.”
She finished her tally. The total number of magical beasts she had cleared actually exceeded ten thousand! This included a rare Rank 7!
“Is my efficiency... maybe a bit too high?” Lilith scratched her head.
“Clearing all the corrupted magical beasts within a hundred kilometers of the Royal City in just a few hours...”
“Well, keep a low profile, keep a low profile.” She nodded, highly approving of her own actions.
“Protected the Elf Royal City, maintained world peace—perfect!”
“Alright, work's over!” Lilith clapped her hands, dissipating the magic longsword. She felt refreshed. “Magical beasts cleared, hidden threats neutralized. Now... I can finally go back and continue my vacation!”
She thought happily about the other delicacies she hadn't tasted yet at the Honey Dew Market and the nighttime scenery of Light Moss Plaza. Her mood brightened instantly.
“Better get back quickly. I have to leave tomorrow at noon.”
