After eating her fill and getting a good night's sleep last night, Lilith finally woke up.
She stretched, sat up, and remained there for a few minutes until her brain finally booted up.
Thinking about what she was going to do today, Lilith smiled. “Request leave, and go out to play for three days.”
She hopped out of bed nimbly, finished a quick wash, tidied her hair in the mirror, and finally grabbed a blank leave request form before heading to the classroom.
In the classroom, Instructor Arret was explaining the fine-control techniques of a wind spell to a few students who had arrived early.
He raised an eyebrow when he saw Lilith peeking her head in. She didn't sit down but instead stood right next to him.
“Student Lilith, is there something you need?”
Arret looked at Lilith standing beside him, feeling like she was definitely up to something.
“Good morning, Instructor!” Lilith flashed a sweet smile and then handed over the leave request form with both hands. “I’d like to request three days off. Is that okay, Instructor?”
Arret took the paper and scanned the reason, which was so simple it only contained the words: “Due to personal matters, requesting three days of leave.” His brow furrowed.
“Leave? Lilith, you’ve only just enrolled. Although you are exceptionally talented, you still shouldn't miss the basic theory and practical magic classes. Besides, three days isn't a short time. Do you have something important to attend to?”
His instinct was to refuse. After all, what kind of freshman asks for a long leave so soon after the start of the term?
But the words caught in his throat.
He remembered Lilith’s talent and the Rank 2 assessment the principal had personally given her. This child's learning progress did indeed seem far too fast.
She had already finished almost everything a freshman was supposed to learn in a semester, even exceeding the requirements.
Arret thought to himself.
“Having her sit in the classroom listening to content that might be too basic for her does seem like a bit of a waste of time. Besides, going out and seeing more of the world might actually be more helpful for her growth.”
Arret struggled internally for a few seconds. Looking at Lilith’s large eyes—which practically screamed 'I want to go out and play' even as she tried to look like she had serious business—he finally sighed and signed the form.
“Go ahead. Be safe, and come back on time.”
He handed the signed form back and couldn't help but offer a word of advice. “Even though your talent is great, the world outside is complex. Don't be impulsive if you run into trouble; observe and think more.”
“Thank you, Instructor! You’re the best!”
Lilith’s eyes curved into crescents as she took the form. She quickly folded it, tucked it into her pocket, and ran out of the classroom with a wave.
Arret watched her back and shook his head, but a hint of a smile crept onto his lips. It was good to be young and full of energy.
Once she passed through the academy gates, Lilith felt like the very air was filled with the scent of freedom.
“Three days of vacation... where should I go to have fun...”
Lilith stood at the academy entrance, resting her chin on her hand as she began to think seriously about the question.
She felt like she had explored most of the Holy City already... Should she visit other cities? She had heard the seafood in the eastern port city was good, the scenery of the northern snow mountains was spectacular, and one could ride horses on the western grasslands.
The options flashed through her mind one by one.
Suddenly, an idea lit up like a little light bulb.
“Right, the Elf Kingdom!”
Lilith’s eyes instantly brightened. In her impression, weren't elves just creatures with pointed ears who were exceptionally beautiful and either cold or pure and kind?
And most importantly, the elf race was said to be full of beauties!
“It’s decided! I’m going to the Elf Kingdom!”
Lilith clapped her hands, brimming with excitement. She would go see how beautiful the legendary elves really were and experience a famous tourist attraction of this other world. Perfect!
She remembered there was a shop in the commercial district that sold maps.
Acting on her impulse, Lilith immediately ran in the direction she remembered.
Ten minutes later, she stood at the entrance of a map shop, her eyes dazzled by the wide array of maps hanging on the walls.
“Boss, I want the map for the elf territory, the more detailed the better.” Lilith pointed at one of the maps depicting a vast forest region.
The shop owner was a pudgy, middle-aged man wearing glasses. He pushed them up his nose and looked at Lilith’s academy uniform, offering a kind reminder:
“Little girl, the Forest of Elves isn't close. Even with the fastest carriage, it’ll take over half a month on the road, and you’ll have to pass through several dangerous areas. Are you going alone, or is this an academy training exercise?”
“Oh, no, no. I’m just... taking a look first, studying the route.” Lilith answered vaguely.
Seeing her persistence, the owner didn't ask further. He pulled a roll of maps from under the counter. “This is a detailed map of the Forest of Elves and its surroundings circulated within the Adventurers' Guild. it includes known safe paths and the distribution of dangerous magical beasts. It costs ten silver coins.”
“I'll take it.”
Lilith paid readily.
Once she had the map, she ducked into a deserted alley and unfolded it impatiently.
After being in this world for so many days, she could finally understand its maps, unlike when she first arrived and could only run around blindly based on intuition.
After some study, she quickly committed the route to memory.
“Alright, let’s go!”
She rolled up the map, tossed it into her personal storage space, and looked around to make sure the alley was truly empty.
She took a deep breath, and the magic within her—as vast as the sea—surged slightly.
In the next moment, her feet left the ground. She intended to fly there at full speed.
“Elf Kingdom, here I come!”
Whoosh!
A figure soared into the sky at an incredible speed, cutting through the clouds and racing toward the northeast, leaving only an almost invisible magic trail in the air.
She threw all her worries about the Calamities to the back of her mind.
Now, it was happy isekai sightseeing time!
In the air, Lilith wondered what kind of good food the Elf Kingdom had.
“I wonder if the elves have any specialty delicacies or fun places to visit.”
With anticipation for the unknown journey and a bunch of fantasies about elven food and scenery, Lilith embarked on her trip to the Elf Kingdom.
As for whether she knew the way, whether she would fly in the wrong direction, or what to do if she encountered danger?
Lilith’s stance was: the map was in her head, so the direction was probably fine. Danger? If anyone dared to stand in her way, she would simply turn them into a speed bump.
This was the first stop of Lilith’s vacation.
