Chapter 543 · Volume 1

Blazing Fire

"Watatsuki... Yorihime!!" On the high platform of the Tribunal, the Inquisitor shouted in a state of utter panic as he looked at the intruder who had suddenly burst in. He knew exactly who the girl before him was: she was the former Lunar Defense Official and a high-ranking noble of the Lunar Capital, Watatsuki no Yorihime. Not long ago, it had been confirmed that she had defected from the Lunar Capital.
"What are you all standing there for? Seize that criminal at once!" Pointing at Yorihime below, the Inquisitor screamed in terror. Under his command, the many guards and executioners regained their composure and drew their weapons, charging toward Yorihime as one.
Facing the guards rushing at her, Yorihime—already bolstered by a multitude of divine power enhancements—showed no fear. She swung her long blade, her figure flickering. Amidst a chaotic dance of sword light, all the attacking guards were cut down, and in an instant, blood splattered across the Tribunal.
Every guard in the Tribunal was killed in seconds. Seeing this, panic spread rapidly through the hall. Countless lunarians in the jury screamed and scrambled for the doors, while the Inquisitor, amidst his fear, felt a surge of boundless rage.
"Damn you... you outrageous traitor! You will pay for trampling upon this sacred Tribunal!" With those words, the Inquisitor extended his hand, condensing a magical array with spiritual power. He fired a light bullet toward Yorihime, but before the projectile could strike, her figure vanished from the spot.
"What— Agh!"
Just as the Inquisitor was left in confusion, Yorihime, having moved at high speed to the high platform, had already pierced him from behind with her long blade. The Inquisitor's shocked expression froze on his face. Finally, after coughing up a mouthful of blood, he slowly collapsed.
In terms of individual martial prowess, Yorihime was a presence that rarely met her match in the entire Lunar Capital—an undisputed, top-tier combatant.
Having dealt with the Inquisitor, Yorihime sighed as she looked at the now-empty Tribunal. She then leaped down, standing before Reisen, and with a few swings of her blade, she shattered the shackles binding her.
"Phew... I once joked that if Lady Yorihime wanted to save me, she would have to cut my chains. I really didn't expect that one day you would actually do it... It seems you've abandoned your principles," Reisen said as she stood up, stretching her limbs.
"It was those principles that abandoned me first, so I turned my back on them. The current Lunar Capital is no longer the object of my loyalty," Yorihime said flatly, looking at the long-unseen Reisen.
"Ha, then it seems I'm truly lucky. I'm really curious about what you experienced on the surface to cause such a change, Lady Yorihime."
"Uh... that's not a topic for now. In short, Reisen, you still have something very important to do. I need your strength," Yorihime said with a solemn expression. Reisen's face showed a hint of confusion.
"Something important? My strength?"
"Yes. The Lunar Capital is currently facing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If we want to change it, it must be now! Reisen, you must use your prestige among the moon rabbits to continue the cause you left unfinished thirteen years ago," Yorihime said earnestly, looking toward the distance where the camera equipment used for the broadcast lay on the floor.
...
On the edge of the Lunar Secret Realm, at the white stone Processing Plant by the Silent Coast.
The moon rabbits of the entire plant were gathered together, watching the live trial of Reisen. However, an accident suddenly occurred at the end. Something unknown happened within the Tribunal; the entire screen shook and fell, and the thick dust made it impossible to see anything. The only sounds were those of panic and screams.
Watching this scene, everyone was filled with immense confusion. The overseer felt a growing sense of unease. Faced with such a sudden situation, he was waiting for specific orders from his superiors.
On the other hand, the gathered moon rabbits all wore expressions of deep worry. The reason was simple: at the last moment of the broadcast, Reisen was about to be executed. Almost all the moon rabbits were currently praying for her safety; among these low-level laborers, Reisen held extremely high prestige.
Suddenly, the floating screen changed. The fallen camera was righted, and the angle of the broadcast returned to normal. The obscuring dust had mostly cleared, and the situation inside the Tribunal was once again revealed to the moon rabbits. However, the Tribunal was now vastly different from before.
The once grand and solemn hall was now littered with rubble. Numerous corpses were scattered everywhere, and the spectator seats were empty. The most shocking change was the high-and-mighty Inquisitor; he was now kneeling face-down where the defendant had once stood, lying in a pool of blood, clearly lifeless. Meanwhile, Reisen, who had been kneeling before, was now standing on the Inquisitor's desk. Free of her shackles, she was looking directly into the camera, staring at the screen.
At this sight, the previously silent moon rabbits instantly erupted into a frenzy. A buzzing drone of discussion rose from all sides, while the overseer and his subordinates froze in place, momentarily unsure of what to do.
"My brothers and sisters, my fellow kin! The wicked people who sought to judge me have been executed. I have gained my freedom!" On the screen, Reisen spread her arms and spoke loudly. Following her words, the moon rabbits on-site couldn't help but cheer.
"My freedom is only the beginning! From this moment on, you who are scattered across the Lunar Capital, still oppressed and bound, must also possess this freedom!" Reisen continued. Her words reached every corner of the Lunar Capital, and countless moon rabbits watching burst into wave after wave of cheers.
In the Council of Sages, the Great Sage watched the scene on the screen and slammed her desk, shouting orders to those around her.
"What is the broadcast station doing? Cut it off! Send my orders, cut it off immediately!"
Inside the Lunar Capital's broadcast station, several operators and guards lay unconscious on the floor. Nura Rihyon sat in a comfortable spot, sipping on some wine he had just found. He smiled as he watched Reisen's speech on the screen, completely ignoring the ringing of the communicator beside him. To him, the speech before his eyes was reaching its climax.
"Come! My brothers and sisters! Let us unite once more! Let us pursue our unfinished dream! Fight against the cruel tyranny of the lunarians! Open the road to freedom with blood!"
"The main forces of the lunarians have gone to deal with the war on the surface. This is our golden opportunity! Now is the time to smash the rule of the lunarians to pieces!"
"Abolish Lunarian tyranny! The moon belongs to the moon rabbits!"
...
As these inflammatory words spread through the screen, the overseer at the white stone plant was already in a state of total disarray. He grabbed his whip and swung it at the gathered moon rabbits.
"Get back to work! You're not allowed to gather here! Get back to work! All of you!" The overseer and his men began to disperse the crowd, causing them to momentarily forget about the young moon rabbit from before.
That young moon rabbit looked at Reisen on the screen, then at the overseer who was driving them away. Gritting his teeth, he picked up a tool knife used for polishing white stone from the ground and charged forward. With a loud roar, he angrily stabbed the overseer through the back.
The overseer fell. Everyone present froze. The boy looked at his blood-stained hands, and after a moment of daze, he spoke slowly.
"The moon... belongs to the moon rabbits..."
In the next instant, a wild roar erupted from the moon rabbits. A surging tide of rage swept toward the remaining few lunarians on-site. The ignited spark instantly became a prairie fire. Similar scenes were unfolding in every part of the Lunar Capital.
The Second Moon Rabbit Revolution had begun.
