Bai Xiaodu sighed.
The worst-case scenario had occurred.
This damn supervisor was a pure, unadulterated bastard!
He didn't want to give up even a shred of benefit. He had tricked Bai Xiaodu into taking on all these debuffs, looking very much like he would just kill him if he didn't hand over the secret technique.
Initially, he had learned the Basic Prayer Technique, thinking he could use it to pray to the Mage Emperor.
He would use this trait to get close to the gold dragon, find an opportunity to knock out the supervisor, steal the key, and free Lingxin.
Then they could wrap things up nicely. He would get the Affection reward, and then kill a dragon to grab its passive.
Everyone would be happy. How wonderful would that be?
But it just had to turn out like this.
Bai Xiaodu silently stood up and raised his handcuffed hands.
“Supervisor, is there really no room for negotiation?”
The supervisor glanced at him.
“Negotiation? Do you even have the capital to utter those words? Right now, you are nothing but a prisoner. I can kill you whenever I want.
“Be smart. If your attitude is sincere, I might still apply for an extra meal subsidy for you, so you can eat a bit more.
“You should know that in this day and age, for a commoner like you, this is already an unattainable dream.”
Then, Bai Xiaodu began to fiddle with the handcuffs, making the supervisor burst out laughing.
“Fool! Do you think I put ordinary handcuffs on you? These are infused with magic-inhibiting material!
“We are both Magic Apprentices. Even if you somehow have some moves that boost your strength, there is absolutely no way you can use them. I have already calculated every possible way you could resist!
“Use your head. How else do you think I stood out from the crowd and became the supervisor?
“Don't blame me for being underhanded and despicable. The creed of the Lord Dragon God's Pathway is knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom is power!
“Hey, why are you still fiddling with those handcuffs...”
Snap.
The fine iron handcuffs infused with magic-inhibiting material were twisted by Bai Xiaodu's hands, wrenched into a mangled spiral.
Unable to bear the stress, the chain creaked and groaned in agony, quickly reaching its breaking point before shattering outright.
A shard flew directly at the supervisor, striking him sharply across the face.
Seemingly dazed by this sight, the supervisor failed to react for a long moment, letting out another bewildered “Huh?”
The obstructive black robe had long been pulled off by Bai Xiaodu, revealing a half-smile on his lips.
【Strengthening Tendons and Bones】
【Quality: White】
【Type: Passive Skill】
【Effect: Maximum Stamina slightly increased, maximum HP slightly increased】
【Description: With this, you will better understand the flower language of a steel wool scrubby.】
It said "slightly," but his strength had actually multiplied several times over.
He had initially worried he might not be able to break these handcuffs, but as it turned out, they had specially added magic-inhibiting material.
This actually weakened the structural strength of the steel itself.
With just a little twist, it snapped.
He had been using Freezing Ray to kill enemies in a cool manner.
This awesome passive had been neglected instead, but now it finally had a chance to shine.
But it didn't matter. Killing people with fists was just as cool.
While the supervisor was still dazed, a ferocious grin spread across Bai Xiaodu's face as he took a giant stride forward.
“If the supervisor won't listen to the polite principles of reciprocity I want to discuss, then I also know a little bit of boxing.”
He clenched his right fist, whipping up a gale that made the very air erupt with a heavy boom!
Exerting his upper body strength, he aimed and punched violently toward the black-robed head!
The terrifying wind pressure rushed at his face. The supervisor's pupils shrank violently, and a bone-chilling dread surged up his spine.
This was the smell of death!
An incantation! An incantation! Quick, chant an incantation!
With this thought frantically rising in his mind, he desperately squeezed syllables out of his mouth.
Those strange, beautiful symbols hovered in the air, but before they could even fully materialize, they were shattered by the sheer force of the incoming punch.
Then, the fist slammed squarely into his face with barely any loss in momentum.
Bang!
The terrifying sound of bones fracturing rang out, making one's skin crawl!
As a mere Magic Apprentice, his physical body had not received much reinforcement.
In many cases, their unarmed close-quarters combat was even worse than that of an ordinary person who exercised regularly.
Let alone taking the full force of a punch comparable to a cannonball.
His scream was violently forced back down his throat as Bai Xiaodu leapt onto the desk.
Grabbing the supervisor's black hood with one hand, his other hand didn't stop for a single second.
Punch after punch after punch!
Uppercut, left hook, right hook, body blow, rising dragon, a flurry of punches!!!
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
It was like celebrating Spring Festival in the office, with explosions cracking like firecrackers.
Every punch was fueled by Bai Xiaodu's current resentment, the rage almost overflowing from his face.
“Motherfucker! Who the hell are you to look down on us common folk?
“I'll let you experience the power of the masses right now!”
He cursed while putting more power into his fists.
As he cursed, Bai Xiaodu felt a lot of his anger venting.
After all, he came from a service industry background and had encountered his fair share of bizarre clients.
Some anger could only be bottled up deep inside.
After delivering a full thousand punches, Bai Xiaodu realized that what was on his hands was no longer blood, but some sticky red and yellow substance.
Snapping out of it, he quickly shook his hands, and still feeling uneasy, wiped them on the black robe.
Letting go, the supervisor, whose head was half-blown open, slumped onto the leather chair, completely motionless.
He was dead.
As the minor boss and second-in-command of the library, his head had been brutally bashed in right inside his own office.
From start to finish, he had only managed to cast his signature move, and it wasn't even during actual combat.
This was the fate of a Magic Apprentice facing a Warrior head-on.
Showing no disgust for the filthy corpse, Bai Xiaodu quickly searched his pockets.
A ring of keys soon appeared in his palm.
Weighing them happily in his hand, Bai Xiaodu turned around, only to find something on the desk slowly glowing.
It was a tablet, still inscribed with the hymnal script he couldn't read.
However, it seemed to have been simplified.
Bai Xiaodu slowly approached and picked it up curiously.
