Chapter 69 · Volume 1

Who Wants to See the Eastern Territory's Spiritual Energy Revive the Most?

Mu Tianqing and Wen Shuxian had been squatting at the entrance of Mingzhao Residence all morning, and their legs were almost completely numb.
Catching sight of the two strolling back from afar, Wen Shuxian subconsciously knit his brows, about to scold them. But the moment he remembered the pile of spirit stones he had seen last night, his tone softened slightly:
“Where did you two wander off to this time? Running around all day—be careful or a deep-sea demon beast might snatch you away.”
Xue Mingzhao felt a cold sweat break out.
They weren't three-year-olds. Martial Uncle Wen was actually trying to scare them with that kind of talk.
Besides, it wasn't even certain who would end up kidnapping whom.
Su Ye scratched the back of his head. “Martial Uncle, did you wait for us because something happened?”
Mu Tianqing was brief and to the point. “To take a look at that barrier you mentioned.”
Xue Mingzhao smoothly pulled out some Water-Repelling Pills and detoxifying pills, stuffing a bottle of each into their hands.
“You'll need these in a bit.”
The four of them arrived at the edge of the seabed cliff.
Wen Shuxian peered down into the dark abyss of the cliff. “I went down there yesterday to check it out, and there was nothing. Are you sure you didn't see wrong?”
Xue Mingzhao patted her chest, guaranteeing, “It's definitely down there! I have an excellent memory. There's no way I got it wrong!”
Su Ye nodded along. “That's right, it's here! I remember it crystal clear!”
Mu Tianqing swept his gaze over the surroundings and spoke calmly, “Then lead us down again.”
Without another word, Xue Mingzhao took the lead and dove into the depths of the cliff, with Mu Tianqing and the other two following close behind.
The four of them sank all the way down, finally landing at the bottom of the cliff.
Wen Shuxian stared at the hazy barrier that had appeared out of thin air, his brow deeply furrowed. His tone was filled with utter confusion. “Yesterday when I came here, it was completely empty. There was absolutely nothing. When did a barrier appear here...”
Before he could finish his sentence, Xue Mingzhao suddenly shrieked, “Hold onto me!!”
A violently powerful suction suddenly erupted, locking onto Xue Mingzhao and dragging her toward the inside of the barrier without giving her a choice. The seawater was churned into a raging torrent.
Su Ye reacted incredibly fast, wrapping his arms tightly around Xue Mingzhao's arm while grabbing Wen Shuxian with his other hand.
The entire sequence of actions was seamless and incredibly swift.
Mu Tianqing was a fraction of a second slower, but he quickly stepped forward to grab Wen Shuxian's other arm.
Like a string of candied hawthorns, the four of them were sucked inside with a sharp swoosh.
The four plummeted from the sky.
With their profound cultivation, Mu Tianqing and Wen Shuxian hurriedly circulated their spiritual energy in midair, barely managing to stabilize their figures.
With a loud splat, Xue Mingzhao and Su Ye face-planted hard into the dirt, eating dust.
The two elders finally stabilized themselves. When they looked up, their hearts couldn't help but tremble in shock.
An unimaginably massive dragon skeleton lay sprawled before them. Its jagged, thick bones were as thick as towering ancient trees, and its long skeletal body stretched far into the distance. Wisps of toxic gas slowly drifted from the gaps in the dragon's bones.
Their expressions turned solemn. They quickly pulled out detoxifying pills and popped them into their mouths. Only when the pills dissolved did they successfully ward off the toxic intrusion.
“This... which mighty expert sealed an ancient giant beast here?” Wen Shuxian was so shocked he could barely speak coherently.
Back then, he and others had turned the seabed upside down, yet they had never discovered such a place!
How on earth did these two brats find it?
Xue Mingzhao scrambled up from the ground and patted the dust off her face. “Martial Uncle, could you help me dismantle this dragon skeleton?”
This was top-grade material for weapon refinement. It would fetch a handsome sum if sold.
She had wanted to dismantle this skeleton and take it with her last time, but their cultivation was too low. They had hacked at it for ages without even leaving a scratch.
Mu Tianqing glanced at the massive skeletal frame, then thought of the skyrocketing toxic spiritual levels in his spirit fields. His lips twitched—so the source of the poison was right here.
He waved his hand. “You two, step back.”
Hearing this, the two ran far away with a whoosh and squatted on the side to watch.
Wen Shuxian and Mu Tianqing drew their weapons and began to hack away furiously.
After hacking for a short while, Wen Shuxian's face turned dark. “This is way too hard! My blade is about to chip!”
Mu Tianqing wasn't doing any better. His face was flushed red from exertion, and his hands were completely numb from the impact.
Squatting on the side, Xue Mingzhao watched them until her eyelids began to feel heavy.
By the time she was poked awake from her daze, she saw Wen Shuxian holding his blade, collapsing onto the ground with a loud thud. He was panting heavily like a dog, completely exhausted.
“This is more exhausting than fighting someone for three days and three nights!”
“Hurry up and collect the dragon bones, then take us to that spatial rift.”
Xue Mingzhao immediately stepped forward. With a wave of her hand, she swept the entire skeletal frame into her storage rings.
To store this dragon skeleton, she had specially bought ten storage rings with a capacity of one hundred cubic meters each from the market.
Once the dragon bones were all safely stored, Xue Mingzhao led the group further into the depths of the space.
The stray wisps of spiritual energy darting around were like tiny, sharp blades, causing a slight stinging pain on their faces. The group had no choice but to slow their pace.
After walking for a long time, everyone came to a halt. Xue Mingzhao pointed into the distance. “Martial Uncle, the spatial rift is over there.”
In the distance, a long, narrow, pitch-black spatial rift lay across the rock wall. Violent spiritual energy surged frantically into the tear, throwing the surrounding airflow into absolute chaos. Just looking at it made one's chest tighten with oppression.
Mu Tianqing looking at the massive rift before him, his expression instantly turned grave.
No wonder the Eastern Territory's spiritual energy was becoming scarcer and scarcer. It turned out it was all leaking out from here!
Xue Mingzhao asked, “Martial Uncle, is there any way to patch it up?”
Mu Tianqing furrowed his brows. “We can only temporarily seal it with a formation, but it won't last long—a year at most.”
Xue Mingzhao's eyes darted around. “What if we use a Guixu Stone?”
Mu Tianqing was taken aback. “If it were a Guixu Stone... it could maintain the seal for a thousand years.” He paused. “But that is a supreme treasure of the Demon Race. Don't even dream about it.”
“Furthermore, the materials for the formation are extremely precious. Our Grand Primordium Sect likely cannot afford them,” Mu Tianqing sighed.
Xue Mingzhao flashed a sly smile. “Then can't we just get someone else to provide them?”
Su Ye was puzzled. “Who would be willing to give up so many materials just to patch up a rift in the Eastern Territory?”
Xue Mingzhao giggled. “I believe there is one person who definitely wants to see the Eastern Territory's spiritual energy revive more than we do.”
Mu Tianqing and Wen Shuxian exchanged a glance and blurted out in unison, “Zhao Yunzhou!”
