Ye Xianyu stood in the air, looking down upon the world with disdain.
Her black hair fluttered without wind, and the intent of the Xianyu sword surged like a tide. She did not say a word.
The Crown Prince of Cangwu, his upper body bound, knelt and crawled forward. His face was filled with terror, and his voice trembled with panic.
"I know I was wrong! I beg Your Excellency to spare my life!"
Ye Xianyu let out a cold laugh. Her eyes lowered, cold and distant, as she mocked him, "It is not that you know you were wrong; you only know that you are about to die."
The Emperor of Cangwu hurriedly added, "This wretched son is devoid of virtue; his death is not to be regretted. If Sect Master Ye wishes to kill him, then kill him. If it can appease your anger, I shall harbor no resentment."
"That’s not true! It was him! He made me do it! This old thing is the one with the ambition! He coveted the fertile lands of the Northern Borders, conspired with the Three Sects, and planned everything meticulously..." the Crown Prince of Cangwu bit back.
"Wretch! Cease your nonsense! Men, hurry and gag this beast's mouth!"
"Mmph! Mmph!"
Watching the drama of father and son turning against each other below her, Ye Xianyu’s eyes were filled with nothing but contempt. She ruthlessly exposed them.
"They say beauties have ill-fated lives, but the most heartless of all is the imperial house. This saying truly holds weight. Li Guan, do you really think this deity is so easily fooled?"
Her sharp rebuke made the Emperor of Cangwu tremble all over, and he collapsed weakly to the ground.
Ye Xianyu’s voice was chilling as she listed his crimes one by one.
"Since you ascended the throne, the Southern Borders have known no peace. Do you think this deity does not know? It was you who secretly instigated the remnants of the demonic sects to harass twenty cities in my Southern Borders."
"This deity could not bear to see the common people suffer from the fires of war, so I endured time and again, retreating further and further. Yet you did not know what was good for you and pushed your luck."
"Today, you not only conspired with demonic cultivators but even intended to revive the beast beast Xiushe to plague the mortal world, resulting in the deaths of seven of my sect's disciples and the injury of two others."
"Even the Twelve Immortal Demon Caves would not dare to take the lives of my sect's disciples within the Northern Borders. Where did you get the courage?"
"My Wendao Sect guards the Northern Borders; our disciples have never feared death."
"They can die under the claws of beast beasts, or under the blades of the demon race, but they should not die at the hands of their own kind..."
"You have forgotten your ancestors and betrayed your kin, murdering the heroes who guard the Northern Borders. If this deity could still tolerate you, where would that leave the human race? Where would that leave the world? Where would that leave the hundred thousand disciples of my Wendao Sect?"
"Today."
"This deity’s sword hangs over the southern sky precisely to tell this world: Do not touch the disciples of my Wendao Sect. Touch them, and your nation falls."
"My Wendao Sect might not be able to slaughter every beast in the Great Desolation, but the Central Plains can be trampled in the blink of an eye!"
Every word was powerful and resonant.
Thousands of sword cultivators stared with fury in their eyes.
The entire imperial family in the city shivered.
Ye Xianyu wanted to tell the world outside that whoever touched a disciple of the Wendao Sect would die.
They might not be able to kill every beast beast or purge the Demon Abyss, but that did not mean the Wendao Sect could not flatten the Central Plains.
This was the bottom line!
Emperor Li Guan gritted his teeth secretly and asked, "Sect Master Ye, the people were not killed by my Cangwu. What will it take for you to withdraw your troops?"
Ye Xianyu said coldly, "Simple. Kill yourself before the heavens to atone for your crimes, and this matter shall end."
Li Guan was shaking all over, his face turning pale green.
"Sect Master Ye, I am the Emperor of Cangwu, the ruler of a nation. Aren't you being a bit too overbearing?"
"I am overbearing specifically toward you. Have a problem with that?" Ye Xianyu said.
"You... you..." The Emperor of Cangwu couldn't catch his breath and nearly fainted.
Ye Xianyu gripped her sword tightly and casually raised her arm, pointing the blade at the high city walls. She spoke word for word:
"I will count to ten. Either you end your own life, or I break this city."
"Ten!"
"One!"
The girl, who skipped directly from ten to one, fiercely swung her sword down toward the imperial city below.
As the long sword fell, it tore through the sky.
In that moment of the strike—
Sword aura surged like a bursting dam, whistling through the air and heading straight for the top of the high city walls.
The members of the Cangwu imperial family stood frozen in place, watching the rolling sword aura approach, their hearts already dead as ashes.
"Spare them!"
An ethereal and misty, ancient voice rose first. In an instant, three streaks of golden light descended from the firmament.
After the golden lights fell from the sky, they merged into one, transforming into a golden light barrier that happened to block the sword aura.
Boom!
Thunderous rumbles echoed!
The sword aura landed as expected, striking the light barrier. The collision produced a deafening roar.
Violent winds rose abruptly, and spiritual energy turned tyrannical. The sky collapsed inch by inch as the space was torn open with several rifts.
Amidst the permeating smoke...
Three auras descended along with it. A terrifying pressure swept through, and ripples spread across the sky.
The cultivators of the Wendao Sect’s Sword Suppression Hall had no choice but to circulate their true essence for protection. Their expressions were grave, each looking as if they were facing a formidable enemy.
Ye Xianyu looked up, her vision filled with a golden glow.
On the previously empty sky, three hundred-foot-tall dharma bodies had stood up at some unknown moment.
They were bathed in golden light, looking like immortals descending to the mortal world. Their entire bodies radiated a supreme aura.
Mortals who saw them felt the urge to worship.
Cultivators who saw them felt fear in their hearts.
Manifesting Sanctity.
This was a supreme divine ability that only great cultivators at the peak tribulation transcendence stage could use.
With just a thought, they could project a dharma body tens of thousands of miles away.
An old Daoist.
A bald Maitreya.
And a scholar.
The Ancestors of the Three Sects, the Sages of the past.
The Cangwu imperial family, having survived the disaster, bathed in the lingering glow of the Sages. Their expressions were ecstatic.
"It’s the Sages of the Three Sects! The Sages have come!"
"Hahaha! Great! My Cangwu is saved!"
They were terrified, they were shocked, they were overjoyed... The Sages of the Three Sects had arrived; Cangwu was saved.
Ye Xianyu narrowed her eyes slightly. She turned the blade of her sword to her side and scoffed:
"Tsk tsk. Manifesting Sanctity... the Three Sects of the mortal world truly have quite the flair!"
The scholar’s dharma body spoke first, saying slowly, "Young Friend Ye, let this matter end here!"
Ye Xianyu did not yield an inch, asking back, "On what grounds? Because you’re ugly? Or because you’re old?"
A flash of warm anger crossed the scholar's brow.
The old Daoist rebuked, "The Li clan of Cangwu has indeed done wrong, but they have been punished for it. A hundred cities have been destroyed, the imperial city is besieged, and the nation-protecting sect was overturned overnight. Young Friend Ye, do you not think this is enough to pay for the lives of seven of your sect's members?"
Ye Xianyu didn't even think about it.
"Not enough!"
The Maitreya pressed his palms together and said cryptically:
"Amitabha. Consider this the three of us asking for a favor from Benefactor Ye. Please, Benefactor Ye, give the three of us some face."
Ye Xianyu snorted coldly and mocked:
"Face? Heh... You three old fogies, trash who hide in the Central Province waiting to die—what do you think you are? Why should this deity give you face? You don't deserve it."
The expressions on the three faces shifted between light and dark; anger had already surfaced.
"What exactly do you want?"
Ye Xianyu’s voice was bone-chilling. "Are you deaf? I want the dog emperor dead."
"No room for negotiation?"
"None."
The old Daoist flicked his sleeve and let out a cold shout.
"Ye Xianyu! Out of respect for your master, we have yielded again and again. Do not think we truly fear you. If you persist in your delusions, do not blame this old Daoist for bullying the young."
Ye Xianyu remained neither humble nor haughty. Even facing three old beasts at the great perfection of the tribulation transcendence stage, there wasn't a trace of fear in her eyes.
The sharpness of the long sword in her hand was fully revealed, and the killing intent in her eyes surged wildly.
"Stinking Daoist, you’re not worthy of mentioning my master! If you want to fight, then fight! Do you think I’m afraid of you?"
The Maitreya opened his eyes, looking like a furious golden guardian. His golden body shook, Sanskrit chants echoed around him, and then heavenly might descended.
Boundless Buddha light imprisoned the girl's surroundings.
"Obstinate and persistent. Today, this old monk shall teach you a lesson on behalf of your master, so you may know there is always someone better and a heaven beyond the heavens."
Ye Xianyu offered her sword, preparing for a grand battle.
The members of the Wendao Sect also called out their life-bound swords, preparing to charge.
In the tense standoff, the Daoist and the scholar released their divine might one after another, shrouding the entire sky.
They imprisoned the ten thousand sword cultivators.
"Damn it!"
"Curse them!"
"I can't move!"
The scholar furrowed his brows, putting on an air of righteousness, and said:
"With the three of us here, you shall not slaughter any further!"
