Chapter 9 - The Cat Immortal

Volume 1 - October 6, 2025

Chapter 9 - The Cat Immortal.

These two are great powers from the Investiture of the Gods period, ancient immortals...

Their level of acceptance for the demon race is clearly much higher than others.

Otherwise, they wouldn't have accepted Sun Wukong and Bai Suzhen, two individuals who would cause major incidents in the future.

Therefore, considering Su Qing's current situation.

Seeking these two as her master was clearly the most suitable choice.

But, suitable as it may be...

There were still a few problems.

Let's not even talk about how to get them to accept her as a disciple; just finding them was a problem in itself.

Su Qing, of course, knew that Li Shan Lao Mu was on Mount Li, and Patriarch Bodhi was in the Cave of the Slanted Moon and Three Stars...

But where was the Cave of the Slanted Moon and Three Stars?

And how was she to get to Mount Li?

This was a difficult problem...

Fortunately, although she had no clue about the Three Stars Cave.

But Su Qing still had a vague impression of where Mount Li was.

As an outstanding student from Zhonghuajia, her geography was quite good, and she still remembered a little bit of it now.

"I remember Mount Li is somewhere near the Qinling Mountains. If I can find the Qinling Mountains, then finding Mount Li shouldn't be a problem."

Su Qing made her decision...

Her first stop would be the Qinling Mountains.

As for which direction to go, Su Qing planned to head north and try her luck.

If she was lucky, she might arrive directly.

If she was unlucky, she would just have to change her route and keep going.

Besides, if she encountered any accomplished demons along the way, she could try asking them for directions.

Su Qing walked out of the temple, looking at the small temple where she had stayed for decades.

She couldn't help but feel a little reluctant to leave.

Once, the small temple had been as young as Li Lianyu.

Now, Li Lianyu was gone, and the small temple had become dilapidated again.

Su Qing shook her head, took one last look at her small temple, and turned to leave.

She was not one for sentimentality, nor the type to wallow in sadness.

She could even accept not being human anymore, so what else was there that she couldn't accept?

Leaving the small temple, Su Qing headed north. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)

Before long, she had left the great mountain behind.

Su Qing looked back at the mountain forest and felt that even this mountain was tiny.

She continued to advance north.

Walking and stopping, walking and stopping.

She didn't know how many days had passed.

She finally saw the first walled city.

Su Qing looked at the city gate and walls from afar, thinking they looked rather imposing...

However...

She had no intention of going into the city.

She knew very well that if she were to appear in the county seat.

She would surely frighten many people...

Frightening people wasn't too big of a deal.

What she was worried about was.

That if too many people were scared, the immortal cultivators would find out... and they might mistake her for some evil demon and come to hunt her down.

With her current strength, she was no match for immortal cultivators.

Su Qing had a good sense of her own limitations.

She knew that she had merely lived for a long time.

If one were to truly speak of strength... she really didn't have any.

She hadn't even learned a single spell yet!

How could she talk about strength?

So, Su Qing bypassed the county seat and found a ruined temple in the woods nearby to stay in.

The condition of this ruined temple was not too bad.

At the very least, the divine statue was preserved in a relatively complete state...

Su Qing took a quick look and discovered that a Cat Immortal was enshrined here.

She flicked her tongue and thought to herself, "So anything and everything can really become an immortal, huh?"

Anything can become an immortal, but for an immortal like this, having lost the worship of mortals, it was probably not far from perishing, right?

Take the ruined temple she lived in before...

If the immortal there were still alive, it definitely wouldn't have let her just coil around it to sleep like that.

Unless that immortal had some special preferences.

Su Qing looked around, flicked her tongue, and, as usual, climbed onto the divine altar. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)

But she had only just climbed onto the altar for a moment.

When the scolding voice of a six or seven-year-old child rang in her ears!

"Hey, big snake! Get off my divine altar right now! You're about to crush my divine altar!"

Su Qing was slightly stunned upon hearing this.

Then, she turned her head to look at the divine statue behind her.

It seemed she understood something!

"Get down, now!!! This god allowing you to stay here is already giving you face! Don't push your luck!"

The voice sounded flustered and exasperated, clearly very angry.

Seeing this, Su Qing went down from the divine altar.

After seeing Su Qing get down from the altar.

The voice sounded again, saying, "Hmph, you know what's good for you. If you hadn't come down, I was about to strike you with lightning!"

Su Qing looked at the statue, thinking that this deity lacked worship and had no incense offerings...

Did it really have the ability to summon a Thunder Tribulation?

"Hey, why aren't you talking?"

"You don't look like a snake that hasn't gained sentience, do you?"

"Shouldn't you be angrily confronting me right now? Why aren't you saying anything?"

"Could it be that I scared you?"

"..."

The Cat Immortal was silent for a long time.

The imperious tone from just now instantly vanished.

Just like a cat that had puffed up its fur, then realized it made a mistake and exposed its belly.

"Can you talk with me, please?"

Seeing Su Qing remain silent, the Cat Immortal seemed to get a little anxious.

"How about I apologize?"

"I shouldn't have been so fierce to you just now..."

"Can you please keep me company?"

"It's been too long since anyone came here..."

"I'm just so lonely."

Su Qing looked at the statue and finally wrote helplessly on the ground.

"I can't speak." Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)

She didn't know if the Cat Immortal could read.

But she truly didn't know how to communicate with the Cat Immortal.

In any case, the other party couldn't hear the replies she was thinking in her mind at all.

The Cat Immortal saw the words on the ground.

The apology suddenly got stuck in her throat...

She asked with some confusion, "How on earth did you cultivate? To have reached such a realm and not even know how to do this. Forget it, this immortal will teach you!"

"However, I can teach you, but you have to stay and keep this immortal company for one day! No... three days!"

"Let me tell you, this kind of thing is actually very difficult to learn, and even harder to teach. If you don't agree, I won't teach you!"

Su Qing looked at the statue helplessly. She really wanted to say that she had never actually cultivated at all; she had simply lived for a relatively long time.

But she couldn't say it, so she could only nod at the Cat Immortal.

Su Qing had actually only just realized that she had no means of communicating with other demons.

After all, there were no other demons on that mountain back then.

And no one had ever told her that communication between demons also required a specific method.

"Really? That's great!"

After Su Qing agreed, the Cat Immortal cheered joyfully for a while, just like a child.

And after her moment of happiness, the Cat Immortal, as promised, began to seriously teach Su Qing the method of communicating with her mind...

The Cat Immortal's personality and voice were both like a little girl's.

When she taught mental communication, it was also like one child teaching another!

But fortunately...

In her past life, Su Qing had received nine years of compulsory education and survived three years of warfare by question banks.

She learned these things very quickly.

In less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Su Qing had already grasped seventy to eighty percent of it.

"You are the Cat Immortal?"

After mastering mental dialogue, Su Qing tried asking a question with her mind.

Su Qing's slightly mature voice echoed in the Cat Immortal's mind.

Stunning her for a moment. She never expected Su Qing to learn so quickly...

Back then, it had taken her three whole days to barely learn it!

A snake compared to a cat, it's enough to make a kitty mad.

It made the cat jealous.

However, the tsundere Cat Immortal wouldn't show it, merely replying proudly: Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)

"Of course, I am the Cat Immortal! Let me tell you, this immortal used to be worshipped by many people! Everyone called me the Rat-Exterminating Divine General! Under my protection, not a single rat could be seen within a ten-li radius! They were all eaten to extinction by this general's soldiers!"

"..."

There was so much to roast, but Su Qing didn't know where to start.
