After Leng Xiang agreed to Su Qing,
she happily turned to prepare food.
Actually, she hadn't sensed anything at all at the time... because it was too vast, so much so that she couldn't even feel her heartbeat.
But with Su Qing's words, she was already very content.
Su Qing wouldn't lie to her about such things; she believed it implicitly.
If she didn't even trust Su Qing, she wouldn't trust anyone.
After reassuring Leng Xiang, Su Qing continued to lie on the rocking chair to rest.
The sparrows landed on Su Qing's belly, and Su Qing suddenly felt as if a fat cat had lain on her.
"You guys... really need to lose some weight."
Su Qing was slightly helpless; these fellows were truly getting heavier and heavier.
Luckily, she was a cultivator... otherwise, doing this every day, she'd develop a body full of muscles.
Hearing Su Qing's words, the little meatballs frantically protested.
Su Qing listened helplessly, eventually just smiling.
In truth, though she told them to lose weight, when had they ever truly done so?
"You lazy little things... next time, I'll tell Leng Xiang to feed you less." Su Qing threatened.
The little fellows immediately became scared.
Making Su Qing laugh at them for a good while.
In the days that followed.
Su Qianxue naturally followed Su Qing to the shop to help out.
There wasn't really anything special to do in the shop...
Even if Su Qianxue wanted to help, there was nothing she could do.
"Sister... what should I do?"
This was the question Su Qianxue asked most often.
Because most of the time, she just sat in the shop with Su Qing, staring blankly.
Unable to do anything.
Later, Su Qing felt it wasn't good to always let her be idle, so she went to a neighboring country and found some poetry and essays.
When she had nothing to do, she would teach her... to keep her from getting bored, and also to help cultivate her character.
However, with this, things changed, and Su Qianxue started getting headaches.
Memorizing these things was truly very painful... but since Su Qing made her learn, she had no choice but to learn.
After all, she had already sold herself to Su Qing.
And she couldn't act spoiled like other children and tell Su Qing she wouldn't learn...
Later, when she had learned most of the poetry, Su Qing also taught her a lot about funeral arrangements.
This shop, sooner or later, would be handed over to her.
So, teaching her earlier would mean less work for her in the future.
Interestingly, while Su Qianxue was slow to learn poetry and always seemed to dislike such things,
she was very serious when learning about funeral arrangements.
And she learned quickly...
Before long, she had mastered most of it.
Life flowed as calmly as water... without any turbulent waves.
Unless there were natural disasters or man-made calamities in the mortal world, most of the time it was extremely peaceful.
Such days were unexciting, yet fulfilling.
With family by her side, life never felt meaningless.
Su Qing didn't like keeping track of years.
Unknowingly, many years had passed again.
Ten years? Or eight years? Su Qing couldn't remember.
Only the middle-aged people who often passed by the door had many more white hairs.
Those mischievous children had also gradually matured, becoming well-mannered.
And there were elders who passed away, asking them to help arrange funerals...
Similarly, many new naughty children had been added.
Su Qing sat in the shop, watching people grow old... and watching children be born.
She also watched Su Qianxue by her side grow up little by little...
Shedding her childish appearance bit by bit, becoming more and more mature.
Over these years, the relationship between Su Qianxue and Su Qing had also grown closer.
The initial sense of unfamiliarity was gone... Su Qianxue was no longer as reserved as she once was.
In front of Su Qing, she would occasionally act spoiled, like a normal young girl.
Su Qianxue's feelings for Su Qing were just like her feelings for her grandfather.
It was a relatively pure family affection!
In Su Qianxue's eyes, Su Qing was her elder, her relative...
She would not forget her grandfather, and she would also firmly remember Su Qing's care for her.
Although she usually called Su Qing "Sister"... in her heart, she felt Su Qing was more like her mother!
As for Leng Xiang, she no longer disliked Su Qianxue as much as she used to...
After getting to know each other over so many years, Leng Xiang had accepted Su Qianxue's presence.
She treated Su Qianxue much more normally, just like she treated the little meatballs.
Of course... she still wouldn't say she liked her very much.
She had just grown accustomed to her presence and had shifted her focus of attention back to Su Qing.
The sparrows, however, remained the same... carefree and worried about nothing.
They didn't feel anything about an extra person joining the household...
They just felt they had gained a playmate!
Unfortunately, Su Qing often told them not to tease Su Qianxue.
So they rarely actively sought out Su Qianxue...
Su Qianxue, however, knew there were sparrows in the house, so she would often take some grain to feed them when she had nothing to do.
Gradually, she also became familiar with the little fellows.
But because of Su Qing's instructions, she still didn't know that these little fellows were no ordinary sparrows.
Over these years, Su Qing's shop had gained quite a reputation in the city.
While business wasn't necessarily much better, people occasionally came to them for help with funeral arrangements.
However, most of these were wealthy families...
Poorer people rarely held grand funerals.
They usually handled it themselves... finding a suitable time after a few days and burying the deceased.
They wouldn't specifically hire someone to help!
One deep winter.
The north wind blew, snowflakes drifted.
It rarely snowed in the south, and this year was a rare snowy day.
Su Qing looked at the falling snowflakes outside the door, recalling the farewell of that year.
However... the person who had left that year had now been by her side for many years.
Su Qing couldn't remember how old Su Qianxue was.
She only knew that the thin, weak, and extremely introverted and timid little girl from back then was no more.
She was now a graceful young woman!
She was very beautiful now...
She had been a beauty in childhood, and as an adult, she was even more so.
Unlike Su Qing's gentle demeanor, she possessed more of a soft, girlish charm.
Especially when she smiled, it made Su Qing particularly fond of her.
Su Qing sat in the shop, watching Su Qianxue catching snow outside the door.
She couldn't help but feel that her child had grown up...
"Did I suddenly feel like an old mother?"
Su Qing stroked her chin.
Looking up at the ceiling, she felt she was truly getting old.
Becoming a bit sentimental.
The snow was beautiful, and the person in the snow was also beautiful.
Su Qianxue felt the coolness in her hands, felt the melting of the snowflakes.
She couldn't help but think...
These snowflakes were as fragile as human life.
They landed in her hand, and in but a breath, had already turned into water stains.
She slowly raised her head, feeling the snowflakes fall on her face, and a hint of worry arose in her heart.
"Will Sister one day pass away like Grandpa, like these snowflakes? I truly hope that when that time comes... the one to bury Sister won't be me."
"Qianxue, come inside! Don't stay outside! You might catch a cold."
From the shop, Su Qing's voice came.
Hearing the voice, Su Qianxue obediently nodded and returned to the shop.
