Chapter 40 - Sword Flight?.
The reason Su Qing wanted to plant vegetables outside was not entirely for future meals.
It was more to make that desolate piece of land... feel a bit more lived-in.
It was also to help Su Qing remember...
that there was once a Daoist monastery here called the Cave of the Three Stars.
It was a place where she had lived and studied.
The next day.
Early morning.
Su Qing and Leng Xiang began to clear the wasteland outside together.
The task of clearing the land was not difficult for the two of them.
In just half a day, they had cultivated a decent vegetable patch.
The matter of seeds, however, was indeed a small problem.
But it wasn't without a solution.
The nearest city was only about twenty to thirty li away.
With Su Qing's speed, it wouldn't take much time.
In the future, after she learned the Somersault Cloud, a distance of twenty to thirty li would be a matter of an instant.
In the afternoon, after finishing clearing the fields, Su Qing prepared to go out and trade for some seeds.
Just then, Leng Xiang said:
"My lady, let Leng Xiang handle this. You can stay home and cultivate in peace... The journey is so far, I'm worried it will tire you."
Leng Xiang's care for Su Qing could be described as a bit excessive.
The 'sword that raises a useless person' was no joke.
"It's only a few dozen li, it's not that far."
Su Qing shook her head slightly upon hearing this and said:
"Besides, I'm also a little curious about the mortal world. I want to see what it's like nowadays."
Su Qing had been away from the mortal world for who knows how many years...
Ever since leaving Li Er, she had never entered the world of mortals again.
She knew very little about the state of the human world.
The last time she had heard anything about it was decades ago, in a dilapidated temple.
Moreover.
Su Qing was no longer cultivating in the Cave of the Three Stars...
Sooner or later, she would have to interact with the mortal world. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
Although the mountains were tranquil, one couldn't help but yearn for the warmth of human life.
She couldn't possibly stay in the mountains and cultivate arduously forever.
After understanding Su Qing's thoughts, Leng Xiang didn't object any further.
She had always put Su Qing first.
However, she still said:
"Since my lady has chosen so, why don't I fly you there?"
Su Qing blinked, not quite processing it for a moment.
"You can fly?"
This was the first time Su Qing knew this.
Leng Xiang had been by her side for so many years.
Besides knowing that Leng Xiang's housekeeping skills were superb and that she had the ability to spoil a person rotten, Su Qing was truly unclear about her other aspects.
Leng Xiang had never mentioned it to her either.
"Of course I can."
Leng Xiang nodded and said:
"Even flying with my lady is not a problem, it will just be a little slower."
Su Qing nodded upon hearing this.
"Then I'll have to trouble you."
Flying was always faster than walking on the ground.
It would be nice if they could get back before dark.
It would just be a bit of hard work for Leng Xiang.
"It's no trouble, no trouble at all. It is Leng Xiang's honor to be able to help my lady."
Leng Xiang quickly shook her head:
"As long as I can help my lady, Leng Xiang will be very happy."
Su Qing said: "No matter what, this will be hard work for you."
Leng Xiang quickly shook her head, only saying it wasn't hard work.
This was just Leng Xiang's nature, which left Su Qing feeling rather helpless.
After finishing her chat with Leng Xiang, Su Qing was about to set off.
The little sparrows at the side also chirped, saying they wanted to go along.
Su Qing didn't refuse.
She was just a little curious, could these little ones keep up with Leng Xiang? Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
After all, these little fellows had already grown into little balls.
They even had to use a lightness spell just to fly...
Could such little fat chirpers really keep up with Leng Xiang's speed?
It would probably be a bit difficult, right?
But Su Qing couldn't be bothered to lecture these little lazy things.
Letting them fly more would be good, it could count as exercise to lose weight.
After deciding to let the little sparrows go with them, Su Qing opened her arms and said, "Leng Xiang, come on!"
Leng Xiang looked at Su Qing.
She was stunned for a moment, and her face couldn't help but turn slightly red.
She felt that Su Qing had probably misunderstood something.
Her original intention was to return to her sword form and carry Su Qing on the blade...
not to directly carry Su Qing in her arms...
She wanted to explain.
But in the end, she swallowed her words.
*My lady is already waiting for me to hold her... If I refuse out of embarrassment, my lady will surely be very sad, right?*
Leng Xiang swallowed a mouthful of non-existent saliva and swept Su Qing up into her arms.
Su Qing very directly wrapped her arms around Leng Xiang's neck to prevent herself from falling from the sky if she didn't hold on tight.
Su Qing's face was very close to hers, causing the already shy Leng Xiang's cheeks to flush crimson.
She was somewhat afraid to move.
And even more afraid to turn her head to look at Su Qing.
She just stood there blankly for a short while, until Su Qing asked her why she wasn't moving.
Only then did she remember to take off.
When the little sparrows saw Su Qing and Leng Xiang fly into the air, they hurriedly followed.
But the way they flapped their wings looked a little tiring.
In mid-air, Su Qing asked with some curiosity:
"Leng Xiang, you didn't move just now, was it because I'm too heavy?"
Su Qing was also a little concerned.
Under Leng Xiang's care for the past ten years, she felt like she had gained quite a bit of weight.
Her appearance didn't seem to have changed much, but if she were to actually weigh herself... she had no confidence.
"No, not at all... Leng Xiang was just dazed for a moment. My lady is very light, and soft... not heavy at all." Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
Leng Xiang replied with utmost certainty.
The reason she hadn't moved was purely because Su Qing had suddenly wrapped her arms around her neck and her face was too close, causing her shyness to fry her brain.
She had just frozen up a bit.
Su Qing nodded slightly upon hearing this, she had thought she was too heavy.
"That's good..."
Su Qing and Leng Xiang chatted idly, while the little sparrows struggled to follow behind.
They were too fat! They had become like sesame balls, and even with the enhancement of a lightness spell, they still couldn't keep up with the two of them.
"Big Sister Xiao Qing, fly slower, fly slower! We can't keep up!"
"That's right, that's right! We're running out of breath!"
"Wait for us, wait for us!"
the little sparrows shouted from behind.
Su Qing couldn't help but smile upon hearing this.
She knew these little guys wouldn't be able to keep up.
Su Qing said: "Leng Xiang, let's fly a bit slower. Don't leave the little ones too far behind."
Leng Xiang nodded slightly upon hearing this and slowed down a bit, allowing the little ones to keep up.
With her arms around Leng Xiang, Su Qing paid no more mind to the little ones and instead turned her head to look at the scenery.
It was her first time looking down at the earth from the sky.
She couldn't help but find it marvelous and delightful.
In her heart, she wanted to master the Somersault Cloud even faster so that she could fly on her own.
"Speaking of which, does this count as sword flight?"
Su Qing suddenly thought of this point:
"It should, right? Sword flight is just a sword carrying a person. Leng Xiang is a sword, and she's carrying me, so it should probably count as sword flight."
Su Qing nodded thoughtfully...
A few dozen li was not a long distance, and it wasn't long before they could see residences.
Su Qing and Leng Xiang found an empty place to land to avoid frightening ordinary people.
After putting Su Qing down, Leng Xiang patted her own crimson cheeks.
"I've troubled my lady."
Su Qing: "?"
