Chapter 35 - Spirit Sword Leng Xiang.
Only Patriarch Bodhi was in the hall.
He sat there, just as he always did.
Seeing Su Qing enter, he slowly opened his eyes.
"Disciple Su Yingqing pays her respects to Master!"
Su Qing bowed.
"Mm, not bad... It seems you have successfully passed your Core Formation tribulation."
Bodhi nodded slightly, then flicked the horsetail whisk in his hand and said:
"What does your inner core look like?"
Su Qing thought for a moment and answered honestly:
"It's like a pill, purplish-black. It seems solid, yet not solid—a feeling of being neither illusory nor real."
Hearing this, Patriarch Bodhi nodded in satisfaction.
"Quite good. It's a fine core."
Su Qing didn't understand why, but she could only thank the Patriarch for his praise.
Then she asked, "Master, now that I have formed my core, can I start learning magical arts?"
"What do you wish to learn?"
"I'll leave it to you, Master. I will learn whatever you teach."
In truth, Su Qing didn't know which arts were good and which were bad. She would learn whatever was offered.
Any magical art she could learn from Bodhi would surely not be subpar.
"Very well. I have the Arts of Tiangang, which encompass thirty-six transformations, and the Arts of Disha, which encompass seventy-two transformations. Which would you like to learn?"
Patriarch Bodhi stroked his beard and asked with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Su Qing immediately cupped her hands and said, "Master, your disciple is greedy. I wish to learn the one with more."
The Patriarch nodded slightly at her words.
"Then I shall teach you the seventy-two transformations."
"Thank you, Master!" Su Qing immediately bowed in gratitude.
Patriarch Bodhi nodded and said, "You have the magical arts, but you still lack a suitable weapon. I have eighteen types of weapons here. Which kind do you desire?"
"Disciple wishes to learn the sword!"
"Why?"
"Uh... it looks good."
"You are honest... Very well, if you like the sword, then I shall give you this Leng Xiang."
Patriarch Bodhi chuckled, and with a flip of his palm, an elegant longsword with a milky-white scabbard appeared in his hand. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
A plum blossom was adorned on the hilt... it was one with the sword, making it exceptionally beautiful.
"This sword is very elegant and suitable for a woman to use," the Patriarch said. "Thus, I gift it to you."
Su Qing was very fond of this sword, so she naturally didn't stand on ceremony with her master.
She obediently accepted the longsword.
"Thank you, Master, for the gift of the sword."
"You've earned this sword. Besides, such an elegant longsword is of no use to me. Left in the armory, it would only gather dust. It is a fortunate thing for the sword that you take it."
The Patriarch shook his head slightly and said:
"Alright, you may return for now. Starting tomorrow, I will teach you the seventy-two transformations."
"Yes, Master."
Su Qing was also obedient. After receiving the magical arts and the weapon, she dutifully returned.
She would learn the arts sooner or later, so there was no rush.
"Speaking of which... which is stronger, the seventy-two transformations or the thirty-six transformations?"
"Never mind. I've already chosen it. It's the same art as the Monkey's. Whether it's strong or not doesn't matter anymore; a long-held wish has indeed been fulfilled."
As Su Qing thought this, her steps became much lighter after leaving the main hall.
She first returned to her courtyard, planning to put the sword Leng Xiang away.
After all, in the monastery, there was no need to brandish swords on a daily basis. Carrying it was just for looks.
However, just as Su Qing put down the sword and walked out the door.
The sword followed her.
Su Qing blinked her eyes, completely bewildered.
This sword... why is it following me on its own.
"You just stay here. I'm going to get something to eat and I'll be right back."
Su Qing said tentatively.
Perhaps understanding Su Qing's words, the sword obediently returned to the table inside the room.
Su Qing found it interesting. This sword seemed to have a high degree of spirituality.
At the very least, it had intelligence on par with the sparrows.
"This is truly an incredible sword! But if this sword could only gather dust at Master's place, just how many incredible treasures does he have?"
Su Qing shook her head; she had no idea.
But however many treasures he had, it had nothing to do with her.
She should be content with having received this precious sword.
She arrived at the dining hall. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
The sparrows were standing in a dustpan, eating rice.
From a distance, it was hard to recognize them as sparrows; they just looked like a few feathered balls.
"You lot really need to lose some weight."
Su Qing said helplessly.
Hearing this, the sparrows protested as usual.
As if they would rather die than diet.
Su Qing was exasperated. These lazy sparrows were both cute and speechless-making.
"What would you like to eat?"
Seeing Su Qing arrive, the dining hall attendant asked as usual.
"Hmm, anything will do!"
Su Qing was past the initial novelty.
She wasn't too concerned about what to eat anymore.
Besides, in this era, there really wasn't a wide variety of delicious food.
Even in the hands of these people, there probably wasn't much exceptionally tasty food.
"Then we'll get you some beef and mutton!" the man said with a laugh.
"Thank you for your trouble."
"It's our duty! But will this be enough for you, miss?"
Su Qing naturally understood what the man was asking.
The men were aware of her previously enormous appetite.
Often, she had to eat several sheep in one sitting just to feel half-full.
Su Qing smiled slightly and said, "It's enough, it's enough. Now that I've taken human form, my appetite has shrunk quite a bit. I just get hungry more easily..."
"Hahaha, that's normal too. Then we'll go prepare something for you!"
The man went to the kitchen with a cheerful laugh.
After a simple lunch.
Su Qing headed back with the little ones, who were still not fully satisfied.
Su Qing was a bit stuffed after eating.
But these little ones looked like they hadn't had enough.
There was a reason they were so fat.
Soon, Su Qing returned to her courtyard.
But as she reached the entrance, Su Qing was stunned for a moment. Read at Novels Haven (novelshaven.com)
She even wondered if she had gone to the wrong place.
She was well aware of how badly her courtyard had been wrecked after her tribulation.
But now...
How was it suddenly restored to its original state?
"How did the roof get fixed already?"
Su Qing was taken aback, unable to make sense of the situation.
After thinking for a long time, she could only attribute it to her senior brothers and sisters helping to repair the roof.
Su Qing didn't bother to think about it further and entered the living room.
Leng Xiang was lying obediently on the table.
As if sensing its master's return, it suddenly flew into Su Qing's hand.
"Why is this Leng Xiang so clingy?"
Su Qing was a little surprised...
This sword was spiritual, alright, just a bit clingy.
But Su Qing didn't dislike it.
A spiritual and clingy sword was probably something many people would covet, right?
However.
While staying indoors, Su Qing couldn't possibly hold the sword all the time.
It was rather inconvenient.
After some thought, Su Qing put the sword down again.
Then she walked into the inner room, preparing to rest for a while.
After the tribulation, her mental and physical energy were nearly at their limits.
Getting a good sleep was the top priority.
It didn't matter if it was dark yet or not; who cares about that when you're this exhausted.
Su Qing immediately fell down and went to sleep.
Seeing Su Qing asleep, the sparrows quietly flew out to find food.
But Leng Xiang, which had been left in the living room, had somehow appeared by her bedside.
Su Qing slept for a long time.
It wasn't until the morning of the next day.
She only woke up when the aroma of a meal wafted over.
