Chapter 114 · Volume 1

Dragon King Expresses Great Resentment Towards Su Qing

“In-laws? How are we in-laws? We are just close neighbors. Don't make up relations!”
Wukong had never met Ao Ying, nor did he know about her.
So, hearing the Dragon King say they were in-laws, he only felt that the Dragon King was frightened by him and was deliberately trying to get close.
The Dragon King heard this and was slightly embarrassed…
In a sense, they couldn't really be considered in-laws.
After all, Su Qing's attitude was ambiguous, and he hadn't yet formally married Ao Ying.
The Dragon King could only laugh heartily and say, “Alright, alright, let's not dwell on this. As long as your eldest sister is Su Qing, that's fine.”
Wukong grinned, feeling that this Old Dragon King loved to make connections.
He said nothing more, simply followed the Dragon King into the palace and took a seat.
After the Dragon King ordered tea to be served, he asked, “When did the Immortal attain the Dao, and what immortal arts were you taught?”
The Dragon King's questioning was naturally out of concern that this monkey might also be a disciple of Bodhi.
After all, this monkey called Su Qing his eldest sister; who knew if Su Qing wasn't just his eldest sister, but also his senior sister?
He couldn't even afford to offend one Su Qing, what if there was another Wukong… what then?
Wukong heard this and naturally couldn't reveal who his master was.
He chuckled, “Since my birth, I left home alone and cultivated on my own to achieve an immortal body.”
The Old Dragon King naturally didn't believe him.
However, seeing Wukong say this, he felt that Wukong might not be from the same sect as Su Qing, which put him somewhat at ease.
The Old Dragon King couldn't help but smile, saying, “Then, Immortal, what important matter brings you to my Dragon Palace this time?”
Wukong heard this, stopped with the pleasantries, and stated his purpose.
“I see your Dragon Palace is so extravagant, there must be many spare divine weapons. How about lending me a few?”
The Dragon King saw this, knew that Su Qing had sent him, and found it hard to refuse.
“Spare weapons, of course, we have them! Just wait a moment, I'll have someone bring some over for you to try!” The Dragon King laughed heartily and waved his hand generously.
He then ordered an Eel Demon to fetch a Great Halberd-Saber.
Wukong saw that this great saber was no different from the one in his hand and couldn't help but say, “I don't use sabers, please change it!”
The Dragon King heard this and had no choice but to order Strongmen to bring a Nine-Pronged Fork.
Wukong saw that it was no longer a saber, so he jumped down and took it in hand, brandishing it for a bit, then threw it aside.
“Light, light, too light! Still not suitable!”
The Dragon King watched Wukong wield the three thousand six hundred jin fork with such ease, and couldn't help but be astonished, marveling at his great strength.
Then, helplessly, he ordered the Strongmen to bring a Fangtian Halberd. That Fangtian Halberd weighed seven thousand two hundred jin, and several Strongmen struggled immensely to carry it.
But after Wukong took it in hand and played with it a few times, he again complained that it was too light.
The Dragon King was quite displeased at this, and was about to flare up, but then he saw that Wukong's aura was far superior to his own.
If they were to fight, he would certainly not be a match.
He couldn't help but cower again.
He couldn't help but inwardly blame Su Qing for sending him such a big problem.
“This King has not treated Su Qing poorly, why would she send me such trouble.” The Dragon King cursed Su Qing thoroughly in his heart.
Then, with a forced smile, he said, “Immortal, this Fangtian Halberd is the heaviest weapon in my palace; there are no heavier ones.”
Wukong saw the Old Dragon King's expression and couldn't help but laugh, “I don't believe it, I don't believe it! Everyone says the Dragon Palace in the sea has the most treasures. How could you, the East Sea Dragon King, not have good treasures? Go look again! If there's anything suitable, send it over.”
The Dragon King was quite helpless, cursing Su Qing in his heart while saying:
“There really isn't any left.”
He was truly fed up with this monkey. If he weren't weaker and didn't fear Su Qing, he would surely blast him out.
Just as he was speaking, the Dragon Queen quietly transmitted a message, saying:
“Does Your Majesty still remember that divine iron hidden in our sea?”
“Of course I remember… Are you saying we should give that divine iron to him?”
“But that was merely a Measuring Rod used by Great Yu Taming the Floods to measure the depth of rivers and seas.”
“Although it's divine iron, it can't be called a weapon. What use is it? Besides, that thing is so huge, this monkey head can't even carry it.”
Hearing this, the Dragon Queen shook her head, “Regardless of its use, since he wants something heavy, then give it to him. Let him transform it however he wants… as long as we can send him away.”
The Dragon King heard this, thought it made sense, and told Wukong about it.
Wukong heard this and indeed became interested, quickly asking the Dragon King to bring it out for him to see.
But how could the Dragon King carry such a thing? He said he would take Wukong to see it.
“Hurry, hurry!” Wukong urged.
The Dragon King quickly nodded and led Wukong to the divine iron.
He saw that the divine iron was about the thickness of a bucket and over two zhang long, covered in moss, looking quite ancient.
As soon as the two arrived, the divine iron suddenly shone with dazzling light, as if it had awaited its destined master.
Wukong saw this, pulled up his clothes, stepped forward, and touched it, wanting to try and lift it.
He looked up at the divine iron and couldn't help but say:
“This is a bit too big; it would be better if it were smaller.”
As soon as his voice fell, the divine iron actually shrank a bit.
Seeing this, Wukong's heart rejoiced, as if he suddenly understood how to use this object.
He was heard muttering, “Smaller, smaller, smaller!”
The divine iron shrank much more, until it became the size of a toothpick. Then he told the divine iron to grow larger.
After repeatedly calling it larger and smaller, the iron finally became exactly the size he wanted.
“Heh, this thing is truly marvelous!”
Examining it closely, he saw two lines of small characters engraved upon it:
“Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod — Weight: Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Jin.”
Wukong laughed loudly.
“Good! Good! Good! A Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod indeed—truly follows one’s will!”
He immediately began swinging it about.
Once the rod entered his hands, it was as though he had been born knowing staff techniques—his movements were flawless.
The Dragon King and others were terrified, fearing the monkey might accidentally demolish the Crystal Palace.
Fortunately, after playing around for a bit, Wukong stopped.
Only then did the Dragon King finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Many thanks for the gift, Old Dragon King,” Wukong said cheerfully.
The Dragon King hurriedly replied,
“I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. Since the Immortal has obtained his weapon, then…”
The meaning was obvious.
Please leave.
This Dragon Palace cannot withstand any more of your antics.
But Wukong had no intention of leaving.
“No rush, no rush. There’s still one more matter I’d like the Dragon King to help with.”
The Dragon King felt Wukong was pushing his luck, but had no way to resist.
“What matter?” he asked stiffly.
Wukong said,
“Had I not found this rod, it would be one thing. But now that I have it, I lack suitable attire to match it. If you have any fine armor, why not lend me a set?”
Dragon King: “……”
The Dragon King was utterly miserable.
“We truly do not have any,” he said weakly.
Wukong didn’t believe him and refused to let it go, insisting that all the other Dragon Kings be summoned to help find him a full set.
Su Qing suddenly sneezed.
Since becoming immortal, she had never fallen ill.
This sneeze clearly meant someone was talking about her behind her back.
Rubbing her nose, she muttered,
“I wonder who’s badmouthing me…”
Gongsun Zhixue, standing nearby, asked curiously,
“What does sneezing have to do with someone talking behind your back?”
Supporting her chin, Su Qing smiled slightly.
“No real connection. Just… a vague feeling.”
Gongsun Zhixue froze, then tilted her head.
“You can feel it even if they’re only thinking it?”
“Who knows?” Su Qing replied, smiling.
“Why? You look guilty—don’t tell me you often talk badly about me?”
“H-how could I?”
Gongsun Zhixue vanished in a panic.
Su Qing laughed softly.
That little one definitely did.
She poured herself another cup of tea, glanced at the little troublemakers she had made stand off to the side, then looked away.
“Come to think of it… could it be that old Dragon King talking about me?”
“Did that foolish monkey mention my name when he went to the Dragon Palace?”
Only now did Su Qing realize—she had told Wukong to fetch the Golden-Hooped Rod, but forgot to tell him not to reveal her name.
“Oh well. If he knows, he knows.”
“If the Dragon King comes looking for trouble, I can deal with it. And if I really can’t—running away is always an option.”
She shook her head, no longer concerned.
After all, the old Dragon King wasn’t much of a problem to her.
Her thoughts soon shifted from the Dragon Palace to travel plans.
Though she intended to wander freely, some planning was still necessary.
Getting lost would be too embarrassing.
She suddenly had an idea.
“First stop—Aolai Kingdom. It’s so close to Flower-Fruit Mountain, yet I’ve barely visited. What a waste.”
While Su Qing relaxed, the seas were in chaos.
Though Wukong had already left the Dragon Palace, he had left it in utter turmoil.
For the Dragon Palace, this humiliation was a tremendous loss of face.
The Four Dragon Kings gathered to discuss reporting the matter to the Heavenly Court.
“We must not only accuse that monkey—
we must also impeach Su Qing.”
The East Sea Dragon King said bitterly.
“But isn’t Su Qing the disciple of that senior?”
The West Sea Dragon King had already heard of Su Qing’s background.
“So what?” the East Sea Dragon King snarled.
“His Majesty the Jade Emperor is always just. Even if she is that person’s disciple, she will still be punished!”
He didn’t truly expect Su Qing to suffer serious consequences.
He simply couldn’t swallow this humiliation.
Even hearing the Jade Emperor scold her once would ease his heart.
And so—this complaint would certainly be filed.
