Chapter 249 · Volume 1

She Is Superman

The old wolf also seemed to realize something was amiss, scratching his head with a guilty expression. "No beast ever told me about this..."
Terrified that Cheng Shuili might hold it against him, he quickly explained, "Boss, you know how it is... we haven't even had the chance to go to school, and we barely know anything about our own race, let alone the others."
That was a fair point, all things considered.
Su Rui still frowned, her expression impatient as she listed off everything a servant would require.
The old wolf nodded along, his expression earnest; it was clear he was taking it to heart.
Cheng Shuili watched them, feeling a bit strange. What was this, exactly?
A servant teaching a servant trafficker how to traffic them?
Su Rui seemed to realize the absurdity of the situation as well. She stopped abruptly, instinctively turning to look at Cheng Shuili. Upon meeting Cheng Shuili's gaze, she flushed a deep red, whether from shame or irritation, her face turning beet-red in an instant.
Cheng Shuili: "......"
What the hell are you blushing for?
The two humans and two beasts fell silent for a moment, but then a dull thud echoed from the entrance, followed by the distinct "click" of a lock engaging.
Cheng Shuili looked over, and just as she was feeling puzzled, the old dog’s voice drifted in from outside, laced with long-suppressed malice and triumph: "Heh, did you really think I was made of mud? So what if you're a guest of the Rat King? This is my turf! Down here in this underground warehouse, not even the King of Heaven himself could save you!"
Cheng Shuili had just raised an eyebrow when the small window on the iron door was suddenly slid open, revealing the old dog’s bloodshot eyes.
He cackled maniacally, "Didn't see that coming, did you? I've been running the black market for years; did you really think a little girl like you could get the better of me?"
With a thunderous "bang," the old dog seemed to slam something heavy against the door.
He hadn't finished venting his rage; he let out a roar and shrieked again: "The Rat King’s guest? Hahahaha! I’ll starve you for ten days or half a month! By the time I’m done, you’ll just be a pile of rotting meat—let’s see if that old rat can even recognize you then!"
The old wolf’s expression shifted instantly. He immediately went to check the small side door the old dog had used; it turned out there was a back door, and it was now locked as well.
His face darkened as he came back to explain the situation to the others.
The guide fell silent as well, while Su Rui simply looked toward Cheng Shuili.
And Cheng Shuili?...
She pulled a bottle of mineral water from the Abyss Ring, twisted it open, and took a small sip.
Honestly.
She should have just said there was no water to drink... she had been trying to save that bottle of mineral water.
"Boss?"
The old wolf called out in confusion, then bared his teeth in uncontrollable rage. He balled his fists and marched toward the iron door, intent on giving the old dog a piece of his mind.
The old dog let out a cold laugh and slammed the iron flap shut.
The old wolf’s fist smashed into the iron door with a resounding "clang."
He bared his fangs, a low growl rumbling in his throat: "Old dog! Are you %¥ crazy?! How dare you move against the Rat King’s guest?!"
The old dog’s hysterical laughter echoed from outside: "Hahaha! I went crazy a long time ago! Driven mad by you bastards!"
His voice suddenly spiked, filled with bone-deep hatred: "Ten years! I’ve sold my life to this black market for ten years, and that old rat turned on me just like that!"
"Go %¥ yourself!" The old wolf raked a claw across the iron door, producing a harsh, screeching metallic sound. "It was clearly you who broke the rules first!"
"Rules?" The old dog’s voice turned sinister. "The rule of the black market is that the weak are prey to the strong! This is my territory now—so what if I kill you?! Who would know?! Who could know?! Today, I’m going to teach you what real rules are!"
He kicked the iron door violently, roaring in a frenzy: "Old wolf! You think you can turn your life around by following some wet-behind-the-ears human? Keep dreaming! Once I starve you into mummies, you’ll be the first one I skin to use as a floor mat!"
The old wolf trembled with rage, his fur standing on end: "Screw your ancestors! If you’ve got the guts, open the door, and I’ll tear your dog mouth to shreds!"
"Hahaha! Getting agitated?" The old dog mocked, mimicking the old wolf’s tone. "'Boss, boss'—you say it so affectionately; are you a wolf or just a lapdog?"
"I %¥#%#——"
The old wolf wasn't satisfied with just cursing, and he was about to ball his fist and take another swing at the door when Cheng Shuili suddenly tapped him on the shoulder.
The old wolf stopped mid-shout. The murderous glare hadn't yet faded from his eyes, but upon seeing Cheng Shuili’s calm expression, he immediately bowed his head in submission.
Outside, the old dog continued his tirade: "Why stop barking? Did your master give you a look?"
He deliberately pitched his voice high, imitating a woman: "'Old wolf~ don't lower yourself to a dog's level~' Hahahaha!"
Cheng Shuili calmly tightened the cap on her mineral water bottle and spoke up: "Old dog."
Her voice wasn't loud, but it brought the cursing outside to an abrupt halt.
"You said just now... that you wanted to starve us to death in here?"
The old dog was silent for a moment before he chuckled again. "That’s right... I’m going to trap you here until you die. What of it? Want to beg for mercy? That’s just how humans are... always the first to cave."
He raised his volume, "Get on your knees and kowtow to me three times! If I’m in a good mood, maybe I’ll let you off!"
That was pure nonsense.
From the moment the old dog locked the door, it was a fight to the death.
And... this human held too many chips, while the old dog had only the advantage of his territory. No matter how much Cheng Shuili begged, he would never let them leave.
This was a fact... the old dog knew it, the guide knew it, Su Rui knew it, and Cheng Shuili knew it best of all.
Only the foolish old wolf turned red-eyed, his fur bristling as he lunged toward the iron door like an enraged beast.
"You filthy, mangy dog! How dare you ask my boss to kneel to you?! I’m going to pull your dog teeth out one by one and shove them up your ass!"
His muscles bulged, his wolf tail stiffened with extreme fury, and he smashed a claw against the door once more: "What are you?! A bastard who isn't even fit to lick my boss’s boots!"
Cheng Shuili stepped back and reached out to press down on the unruly wolf.
Outside, the old dog continued to bluster, seemingly convinced that the people and beasts inside were reduced to impotent rage.
"What are you going to do? Huh? If you’ve got the guts, come out and hit me! Do you have the guts? Hahahaha!"
The response was a thunderous boom of a fist colliding with the iron door.
Cheng Shuili’s fist struck, her fingers vibrating with numbness, but she left a distinct imprint on the iron door.
A normal person might be out of options, but this top-ranked player had a Strength attribute of 53 points!
Is she a normal person? She is Superman!
The blow left the old dog stunned into silence.
Cheng Shuili simply shook her hand, stared at the dent, and after a moment of thought, pulled the newly acquired long spear from the Abyss Ring.
This thing... just holding it counts as using it, right?
The legendary long spear, Youlan, increases Strength and Agility by ten points.
So then... let’s have another go, shall we?
