Chapter 244 · Volume 1

Discriminating Against Humans

“Regardless, it’s definitely a loss, but losing a little less is still a good thing!” The companion in black cloth patted the old fox’s shoulder heavily, as if that could awaken his reason. “Don’t go against your own game coins!”
The old fox was still furious, but clearly not as impulsive as before. He took a deep breath, scanned Cheng Shuili and her group, then frowned and said stiffly, “500 game coins!”
“Huh?”
Cheng Shuili laughed out loud.
Did he think he held the initiative now? Trying to add or subtract a zero directly from Cheng Shuili?
His skills were still not up to par.
“What are you laughing at?”
The old fox glared at Cheng Shuili, only to be patted on the shoulder by his companion again.
The companion’s expression clearly said, “You have to have some limits even when you’re ripping people off...”
With Cheng Shuili and the others still there, the old fox truly had grievances he couldn’t voice. His companion had arrived too late and hadn’t seen how these humans had haggled just moments ago...
He was just giving it back to her!
How was that considered ripping someone off?
“Laughing at you for treating everyone else like a fool.”
After Cheng Shuili said this, she immediately shook her head and prepared to leave without hesitation.
Su Rui followed immediately, turning back to beckon the guide who hadn’t quite grasped the situation.
The group was clearly leaving right now.
The old fox widened his eyes. What was this? Even if the price wasn’t right, they could still haggle, right? Turning around and walking away like this! It was simply thuggish!
The old fox was both angry and anxious. Seeing that they were really about to leave, he swallowed his pride and shouted, “100 game coins, the lowest!”
The human’s footsteps halted.
If the old fox could have known in advance what would happen next, he would definitely have regretted offering this price.
The human smiled, her face showing not the slightest displeasure, but she pressed her offer even lower: “40 game coins.”
“How can you be like this?”
The old fox had just asked the question when he heard the voice say faintly: “30 game coins.”
The old fox suddenly had an epiphany.
Perhaps this person never wanted to know where he got these weapons, or maybe she wanted to know at the beginning, but after he asked for 500 game coins, she lost all interest in doing business properly!
Business or not didn’t matter; this human just wanted to drive the price to the absolute minimum to teach him a harsh lesson!
The old fox shut his mouth, his eyes staring fixedly at this hateful woman.
However... this was the black market, and he truly couldn’t take action.
Besides, Cheng Shuili was right. If he had the guts to fight, he could have chosen from so many other places and jobs, so how would he have ended up setting up a stall here?
But now wasn’t the time to be angry... this person had already made a profit from him; he had to earn something back, right?
He’d already been angered, so wouldn’t it be a shame if he didn’t even end up with the money in the end?
Thinking of this, he took a deep, harsh breath and shouted as if he had given up on himself: “30 is 30! It can’t go any lower!”
The human turned around, smiling as if she had expected it: “Fine, send the transaction contract.”
The old fox felt more and more uncomfortable the more he thought about it, and he wanted to struggle one last time: “What kind of transaction contract do you need for this kind of thing? Just gift me the game coins, and I’ll tell you the information!”
The woman looked at him with a smirk: “Do I look like a fool to you?”
The old fox: “......”
Not a fool... not a fool at all!
But she was too shrewd, shrewd to a degree that naturally made a beastman feel disgusted!
Hateful human!
The old fox honestly sent the transaction contract. After watching the other party pay 30 game coins, he frowned and revealed the origin of the item.
“See that garbage station over there? The weapon was picked up from there.”
Cheng Shuili paused; this answer truly exceeded her expectations. She suddenly realized something and frowned, her face showing distress.
If that was the case, didn’t this guy not have to spend a single cent?
And he could turn around and sell it for dozens or hundreds of game coins?!
That was too much, wasn’t it?
If that were true, how could there be any such thing as players finding bargains? No matter how you looked at it, these people were the ones making the profit!
Before she could say anything, the companion standing next to the old fox frowned and added: “We can’t tell you the details, but since you’ve spent the game coins, you should understand that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world.”
There is no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
Cheng Shuili raised an eyebrow, feeling much better instantly.
Fine.
She beckoned for Su Rui and the guide to leave, and this time no accidents occurred.
The guide led the two to the shop that sold servants.
Chatting on the road, Cheng Shuili asked the guide: “Do you know about the dark room?”
Back then, Tiger Brother and Tiger Sister were locked in the dark room. Why would the items in the shop be treated as garbage?
The guide frowned upon hearing the term, then shook his head in a way that suggested deep mystery; he clearly knew, but was unwilling to mention it.
Cheng Shuili was silent for a moment and wanted to continue asking, but seeing his expression, she knew she wouldn’t get an answer, so she had to give up.
The group soon reached their destination.
The stall owner selling servants was also an old acquaintance. His gaze swept over them, and he took the initiative: “Once a servant is sold, there are no returns or exchanges. My place is not that kind of shop; there’s no such thing as after-sales service here!”
Who was here to return goods?
Cheng Shuili frowned, and just as she was about to say something, the stall owner added: “You look like you’ve got money, so you shouldn’t do such disgusting things, right? But humans are never good for anything! It’s normal for them to do disgusting things. I’ll make it clear to you first: no returns or exchanges here!”
That wasn’t all.
The stall owner’s gaze jumped to Su Rui, and after scrutinizing her critically, the corners of his mouth curled into a mocking arc: “Tell me, what kind of sickness do you have? Your arms and legs are fine, and you don’t look like you can’t work, so is your brain broken?”
Su Rui’s expression turned ugly. It looked like if she didn’t remember that they couldn’t take action in the black market, she would have pulled out her dagger and fought this beastman to the death.
Cheng Shuili’s gaze instantly turned cold. She stepped forward to block Su Rui, her voice filled with bone-chilling coldness: “Say that again?”
The stall owner was stunned by her sudden aura, but he quickly stiffened his neck and sneered: “What? Did I say something wrong? Aren’t humans just—”
“—Just what?” Cheng Shuili interrupted him, a cold smirk curling her lips. “Just much better than some waste who only knows how to hide in the black market and demean others with their mouths to find a sense of superiority?”
The stall owner’s face stiffened; he clearly hadn’t expected to be retorted to so bluntly.
Cheng Shuili was too lazy to wait for his reaction and continued: “You’re selling servants, not ancestors. Who gave you the right to point fingers at your buyers? Or is it...”
She intentionally drew out her tone, her gaze sweeping over the few servants at the stall, “...that the quality of the goods you have here is too poor, and you’re afraid that if others buy them and find something wrong, they’ll come looking for you, so you’re splashing dirty water on them in advance?”
