Oh, so he wants to get something for nothing.
Cheng Shuili let out a cold laugh. To put it bluntly, what happened to anyone else was none of her business; she had no intention of being some selfless, self-sacrificing 'Holy Mother' in this apocalypse.
She wasn't cold-blooded, though. If Glory had shown even a bit of sincerity, she would have been more than happy to contribute to the community.
But if you want a free ride, then I'm sorry.
Cheng Shuili didn't reply to the message again.
She twisted the handle and hummed a little tune, cruising forward leisurely. Today had been a massive harvest. The radio she'd been holding onto for so many days had finally proven its worth!
Her BUG Physique hadn't let her down either. It truly was a case of perfect timing!
With a good talent drawn at the start, a happy life is free of heartaches.
Cheng Shuili suddenly felt a bit puzzled. She had never seen anyone mention the word 'talent' in the Regional Channel, nor had she seen any players with elemental talents.
Even if everyone was hiding their talents, players with abilities that could directly generate water should at least be selling some of it, right?
A suspicion began to form in her mind...
Could it be that this BUG Physique was, in itself, a literal bug?
Cheng Shuili shook her head, tossing these thoughts aside. There was no point in dwelling on it; she would never mention her talent to anyone else as long as she lived.
As long as she lived well, that was enough.
A faint smile appeared on Cheng Shuili's face, her eyes crinkling at the corners. She looked warm and peaceful.
Unfortunately, one always runs into people who ruin the mood.
After driving for a short while, Cheng Shuili saw an electric tricycle parked ahead. It wasn't pulled over to the side; instead, it was parked horizontally right in the middle of the road.
A woman was crouching nearby, messing with a tire.
Hearing the sound of the approaching vehicle, the woman grabbed the tricycle and poked her head out, looking at Cheng Shuili with an eager expression. "You've come at just the right time! Hello! Do you know how to fix a vehicle? My tricycle stopped moving for some reason. Could you help me take a look?"
Cheng Shuili originally intended to drive straight past, but the woman quickly took a few steps and stood on Cheng Shuili's side of the road, clearly trying to prevent her from leaving.
"Um, my name is Lin Mo. Could you please help me? Please? I haven't finished my mileage for today yet. I don't know what the system's punishment will be if I don't complete it. Please, I'm begging you!"
Cheng Shuili narrowed her eyes, sizing up Lin Mo as she blocked the path. The other woman wore a look of earnest pleading; she truly seemed to be in need of help.
"I don't know how to fix vehicles,"
Cheng Shuili said flatly, her hand quietly reaching for the dagger at her waist.
Lin Mo didn't seem to notice the small movement. She took two more steps forward, her tone becoming even more urgent. "Please, just take a look! I'm at my wit's end. There's not a soul in this godforsaken place, and I finally ran into you..."
Cheng Shuili's shopping cart slowly came to a halt, but she didn't get off. Instead, she stayed in a position where she could accelerate at any moment.
She stared at Lin Mo and suddenly smiled.
If someone was looking for death, she might as well oblige them, right?
"What's wrong with your vehicle?"
Seeing her stop, a flash of joy crossed Lin Mo's eyes. She hurriedly pointed at her electric tricycle and said, "I don't know if it's a battery issue. It just suddenly stopped responding. Could you help me check the wiring?"
Checking the wiring while messing with the tires?
Do these people not even bother to get their stories straight before they go out to scam others?
Cheng Shuili nodded, though she remained seated on the shopping cart. "Take a few steps back. I'll get off and take a look."
Lin Mo blinked in surprise but followed the instruction and stepped back.
Only then did Cheng Shuili slowly hop off the cart, her left hand resting lightly on the dagger at her waist. She walked over to the electric tricycle and pretended to lean down for an inspection, while actually using her peripheral vision to watch Lin Mo's every move.
Lin Mo's gaze sharpened, and her hand quietly reached behind her back.
"This vehicle of yours..." Cheng Shuili spoke up at the right moment, intentionally dragging out her words before suddenly snapping her head up. "You parked it here on purpose, didn't you?"
Lin Mo's expression shifted instantly. She whipped a machete out from behind her back and sneered, "Smart. Too bad you're too late!"
She swung the blade at Cheng Shuili, but Cheng Shuili was already prepared. She sidestepped the blow with ease, simultaneously drawing her dagger and thrusting it toward Lin Mo's abdomen.
Lin Mo clearly hadn't expected such a fast reaction. In her haste, she could only barely dodge, but the blade still sliced through her clothes.
"You!"
Startled and enraged, Lin Mo refused to believe her luck and raised the machete to strike again.
Cheng Shuili let out a cold snort and stopped holding back.
Her agility attribute far surpassed that of an average person; one could even say she was in a league of her own! In her eyes, Lin Mo's attack looked like it was in slow motion!
After easily dodging the strike, Cheng Shuili delivered a sharp kick to Lin Mo's knee.
Lin Mo cried out in pain and fell to her knees, the machete flying out of her hand.
"Is this all the skill you have to try and rob someone?" Cheng Shuili stepped on the machete and pressed her Steel Dagger against Lin Mo's throat. "Tell me, how many people have you done this to?"
Lin Mo's face turned pale. She gritted her teeth and said, "If you kill me, the system won't give you much in the way of supplies!"
Cheng Shuili raised an eyebrow. "Oh? It sounds like you have quite a bit of experience with this."
Lin Mo looked remarkably composed, as if she had a trump card. "I know a lot of information. If you kill me like this, it will definitely be your loss!"
"And the supplies! If you kill me outright, you'll only get a portion—a small portion, even. But if you spare my life, I'm willing to offer up all my supplies! Just leave me the vehicle and let me go."
Lin Mo was full of confidence. She had used this script to trick many people. If she won, she killed them; if she lost, she immediately surrendered, giving the opponent the illusion that they held all the cards!
In this place, supplies meant better conditions and a better life. Under the temptation of more resources, everyone was greedy. Almost no one would refuse!
Lin Mo sneered inwardly. The more successful a person was, the more complacent and careless they became!
And what Lin Mo was waiting for was that moment of carelessness! She was like a lurking monster, waiting for her enemy to relax so she could deliver a fatal blow!
But Lin Mo forgot that she was only human herself.
Consecutive successes had made her arrogant as well. Her overly confident tone allowed Cheng Shuili to sense the problem.
Who wouldn't be afraid or beg for mercy when a knife was at their throat? Who would be so bold as to negotiate terms with the person holding the blade?
Either she had a hidden backup plan, in which case she absolutely couldn't be left alive!
Or she had an indomitable will and would surely become a major threat in the future, in which case she also couldn't be left alive!
Cheng Shuili had already made her decision.
She shook her head, a cruel smile touching her lips. "You were trying to kill me. How could I possibly let you live?"
"I can overpower you, so I am the one killing you. If you could have overpowered me, I would have accepted my fate. I don't care about right or wrong. If you have anything else to say, tell it to the King of Hell."
Lin Mo's eyes widened in shock. Realizing her plan had backfired, she opened her mouth to say something, but Cheng Shuili didn't give her another chance.
Her eyes remained fixed in that state of shock, never to blink again.
