Chapter 129 · Volume 1

Garbage Station

There were no objections to the training, and it was quickly decided upon.
Cheng Shuili did not need to concern herself with how Ailin organized the training; that was not something for a boss like her to worry about.
Cheng Shuili did not need Ailin to fret over her physical fitness, and survival skills were even less of a concern.
After all, Cheng Shuili was someone who had deflected bullets right in front of Ailin!
Ailin now had absolute trust in Cheng Shuili and fully recognized her strength. However, Cheng Shuili’s weakness was also particularly obvious; to use the parlance of the games from her past life, she was a master of outlining human silhouettes with her gunfire.
Unfortunately, training one's aim was not a task for a day or two, especially in a place where bullets were exceptionally precious. It was truly impossible to train even if she wanted to.
Ailin shook her head and temporarily shelved the plan she had devised for Cheng Shuili.
Today was the second day of the extreme heat. The temperature had risen significantly compared to yesterday, and the heat waves on the highway distorted the survivors' vision. The temperature inside vehicles with air conditioning was still bearable.
However, the surviving players could clearly feel that their water consumption over these two days was significantly higher than before.
Cheng Shuili sat in her air-conditioned cabin and yawned, picking up the mineral water sitting to the side to take another sip.
The cold water went down her throat, but the feeling of thirst did not ease in the slightest.
Cheng Shuili stared at the mineral water in her hand for a while. This was truly strange; could it be that she was drinking fake water?
The system must be plotting something malicious.
But for now, the players, who were completely in the dark, could only do their best to attend to their own affairs.
Cheng Shuili was working hard to drive forward. With the solar panels, she did not need to worry about battery levels while grinding mileage. Opportunities like this were rare; simply put, whatever she grinded was pure profit!
Throughout the morning, Cheng Shuili opened four supply crates: two wooden and two bronze.
The frequency of bronze supply crates appearing was now on par with wooden ones, while silver and gold supply crates remained very rare.
The two wooden crates did not contain anything good. Previously, she could at least find mineral water to fill the quota, but now, she couldn't even see a trace of a single bottle of water.
The bronze supply crates yielded a high-level material and a sun hat.
The sun hat had no special effects; it was just a very ordinary hat.
Cheng Shuili was not picky, so she put it on her head as soon as she opened it.
Cheng Shuili had expected to spend the afternoon the same way, but just after finishing lunch, the squawking radio brought new information.
"Ahead... two kilometers... passing by a garbage station... take note... take note... pay the entrance fee... can enter the garbage station... enter... garbage station..."
A garbage station?
Back when Glory mentioned on the regional channel that there were four types of special buildings, this garbage station was the only one she had never entered.
But what was this "entrance fee"?
During the novice protection period, players did not have any game coins. How did those people manage to enter the garbage station back then?
Harboring doubts, Cheng Shuili floored the accelerator. The electric shopping cart sped across the scorching highway, the tires screeching against the asphalt.
The two-kilometer distance vanished in an instant, and the scene ahead gradually became clear.
A massive structure built from rusted metal and scrap parts appeared in her field of vision. A crooked neon sign hanging at the entrance read "Garbage Station." Several bulbs were already broken, flickering with unstable light.
Two heavily armed beastman guards stood at the entrance. Their equipment was far better than that of the average player.
"Stop for inspection." A guard wearing a gas mask raised the submachine gun in his hands, signaling Cheng Shuili to halt.
Cheng Shuili slowly lowered the window. Heat waves immediately surged into the vehicle, and she narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Entrance fee, 10 game coins per person!"
The guard's voice came through the mask, sounding muffled and mechanical.
Cheng Shuili raised an eyebrow and directly asked the question on her mind: "During the novice protection period, how did those people without game coins get in?"
The guard, assuming she did not want to pay, became cold in his attitude. He let out a scoff but still answered the question: "Back then, you could pay with supplies. That's not possible now; it's game coins or get out."
Cheng Shuili had truly never seen such a fierce beastman.
This guy was holding a submachine gun and was fully decked out in tactical gear. A bulletproof vest covered his torso tightly, and he even had several grenades clipped to his belt.
He looked like someone not to be trifled with, and he showed no reaction to her 【Majesty】.
Cheng Shuili pondered for a moment and chose to pay the ten game coins.
It was only ten game coins, not much; she could just turn them back from someone else through reprocessing later tonight.
Once the guard confirmed she had paid, he stepped aside to clear the path: "The rules are simple. No fighting inside; violators will be executed on the spot. Transactions are voluntary, and you are responsible for the consequences. You cannot stay for more than two hours. Park your vehicle inside."
Executed on the spot for fighting? And she could park her vehicle inside?
Cheng Shuili had a strange expression on her face. How could these rules be those of a garbage station?
The rules at the trading post only forbade carrying weapons inside. That fox beastman had stopped players from fighting, but he never said they would be executed on the spot!
A flicker of curiosity stirred in the depths of Cheng Shuili’s heart.
With a piercing screech of metal, the rusted gate slowly opened.
Cheng Shuili looked up and slowly drove inside. The sight before her made her eyes widen in surprise.
The interior of the garbage station was far larger than it appeared from the outside, and both its style and function were completely different from any building Cheng Shuili had seen before!
Countless stalls were arranged along winding passages, where heavily wrapped beastmen traded all sorts of bizarre items.
There were quite a few players on the streets, but they showed no special reaction to seeing a newcomer drive in.
The air was filled with a nauseating mix of odors: motor oil, rotting meat, and heat.
Cheng Shuili parked her car. As soon as she stepped out, she heard a hoarse voice come from nearby: "Newcomer? Need a guide? Only 5 game coins."
She turned to look and saw a small, thin beastman elder squatting in the shadows. He was missing an ear and his face was covered in scars, but his eyes were unusually bright.
"No need."
Cheng Shuili calmly refused.
The stalls on both sides of the passage displayed all kinds of items: from weapons and armor to food and medicine, and even some things that looked like human organs.
The shouting of beastmen and the haggling of players rose one after another, forming a bizarre bazaar atmosphere.
Cheng Shuili stood in place and looked back. Behind her was a massive garbage station, reeking of filth, with players scattered about picking through trash.
After a moment of hesitation, Cheng Shuili turned and walked toward the bazaar of heavily wrapped beastmen.
These beastmen were all wearing black cloaks, wrapped tightly from head to toe, leaving only their eyes exposed. They looked dark and gloomy, and they did not seem like good people at all.
But what puzzled Cheng Shuili was, why was there another bazaar here?
Was there not already a trading post?
