Chapter 25 · Volume 1

I've Been Busy All Day, Can't I Enjoy Myself?

However, her excellent professionalism allowed the receptionist to restrain her curiosity and doubt, and she simply nodded with a smile.
“Understood. We have received your report and will send someone to verify it. If the situation is confirmed, there will also be a bonus for you.”
Sure enough, reporting information also came with a reward.
Lynn nodded with satisfaction and left the guild.
Reporting it to the guild was only Lynn's first layer of insurance.
In a few days, once he received the focus material from Instructor Gray and enhanced his spellcasting ability...
If the Dungeon Slime was lucky enough to survive the guild's subjugation, he would take revenge with his own hands.
Lynn knew very well that for a low-level monster with little intelligence like the Dungeon Slime, once it claimed an area as its territory, it wouldn't relocate.
Therefore, Lynn was in no hurry.
At the entrance of the guild, the two went their separate ways.
Lynn had originally planned to give Lupa thirty percent of the reward as agreed, but she refused.
Lupa only took twenty percent before fleeing as if she were terrified of him.
Watching the beastkin girl run away, Lynn was somewhat bewildered.
What was wrong with her now?
But in any case, he had saved Lupa's life this time, so taking an extra ten percent of the reward felt entirely justified.
If not for his Magic Missile, Lupa would never have escaped the clutches of the Dungeon Slime.
He just wondered if he would have another chance to adventure with this beast-eared girl in the future.
The next time they met, he definitely had to ask if she had a tail!
...
Having received the quest reward, Lynn didn't think about anything else for the moment and headed straight in the direction of the Moonflower Inn.
Before the adventure, he had been full of ambition, his mind consumed with how to unlock new entries in the encyclopedia and obtain more Bloodline Points.
But after a long day of working in the sewers, Lynn now only wanted to rush back to the inn, take a shower, change into clean clothes, and enjoy a wonderful dinner.
Fortunately, the Moonflower Inn was in a good location and wasn't too far from the Adventurers' Guild.
It didn't take long, and before it got completely dark, Lynn made it back to the inn.
Pushing open the front door, the pleasant chiming of the wind chimes rang out, and Lynn felt all the fatigue in his body wash away at that moment.
“Ah, Mr. Lynn is back.”
Greeting Lynn was the gentle smile of the landlady, Aurora.
However, when she saw Lynn's filthy clothes, the smile on Aurora's face instantly froze.
Out of the germophobic tendencies of her elven bloodline, a subconscious expression of disgust flashed across Aurora's face. But remembering he was her customer, she forced a stiff smile back onto her face.
Lynn also noticed the landlady's disgust. He smiled sheepishly and quickly returned to his room.
Pushing open the door, Lynn immediately threw his dirty clothes, which were stained with various unidentified sewer fluids, into the hamper, and then turned on the shower.
Thank goodness for mages who invented such convenient devices!
The water temperature was just right.
The clear water poured down, gently washing away the mucus that Lynn had accidentally gotten on himself.
“Woo—”
Lynn couldn't help but let out a cry of pure satisfaction.
After spending so much time in the sewers, suddenly smelling the familiar fresh scent of the Moonflower Inn was absolute bliss.
He scrubbed every corner of his body thoroughly with soap. Only when he was sure there was no lingering odor did Lynn turn off the shower, drag his exhausted body over, and throw himself onto the bed.
The sheets at the Moonflower Inn seemed to be washed daily, so instead of any musty smell, they carried a lingering, fresh scent of lavender.
Only after resting for a while did Lynn regain his energy.
The life of an adventurer felt a bit tougher than he had imagined.
Subjugating monsters was quite interesting, but that aspect only took up a small portion of an adventure. Most of the time was spent preparing, traveling, and searching for targets...
Whatever.
Lynn shook his head slightly and stopped dwelling on it.
Seeing the data on his monster encyclopedia refresh and improve bit by bit, overall, he didn't regret his decision to become an adventurer.
This was much more interesting than doing farm work in the countryside!
Now that things were settled, it was time to eat.
Lynn got up from the soft bed and headed downstairs.
Aurora had sharp eyes and immediately saw Lynn coming downstairs. She quickly explained,
“Lynn, I didn't mean that just now—”
Aurora wanted to say that she hadn't meant to look disgusted earlier, but she suddenly froze mid-sentence.
Was this Lynn?
“What's wrong?”
It wasn't until Lynn walked up to Aurora and waved his hand in front of her face that she snapped out of her daze. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her earlobes flushing slightly.
“Ah! It's nothing... I just feel like you're... a bit different today...”
Looking at the young man before her, Aurora was somewhat surprised.
Why did it feel like he had changed since he went out on his adventure this morning? It was almost as if he were a completely different person.
His smooth, fair skin actually made even Aurora, a half-elf, feel a little envious.
Looking at the distracted Aurora, Lynn felt helpless, but he had some suspicions in his heart.
It was probably the fault of the slime bloodline again.
After his Charm rose to seven points, Lynn was likely considered quite eye-catching among humans.
However, in terms of pure looks, Aurora was probably still superior to Lynn.
The reason her reaction was so dramatic was likely because the contrast in Lynn's appearance before and after was too great.
Lynn couldn't help it. Activating these monster bloodlines would inevitably make others notice some anomalies.
“Can I still order food now, Aurora?”
Lynn's voice pulled Aurora back to reality. She quickly took out a menu from beneath the counter and placed it in front of him.
“Yes, of course. What would you like to eat, Mr. Lynn?”
“Hmm...”
Lynn casually browsed through the menu.
For a small medieval-style inn, one obviously couldn't expect too much. Most of the dishes were so plain that Lynn had little appetite for them.
For example, the trio of dark bread, salad, and ale, or cream of mushroom soup.
Although they only cost four copper coins, they were completely out of Lynn's consideration.
He was going to spend some money and pamper himself!
After completing the quest, Lynn had earned his first pot of gold—a full thirteen silver and over forty copper coins.
Now Lynn's small treasury was plentiful again, totaling fifteen silver and thirty copper coins!
Bring out the best! Don't let anyone think I can't afford it!
After working hard all day, he had to compensate his body in some way.
The upper house and his body worked hard during the day so that his stomach and lower house could enjoy themselves at night.
“I'll have a beef stew and two shepherd's pies.”
Aurora covered her mouth in slight surprise. “That's quite a large portion. Can you eat all that, Mr. Lynn?”
“Just bring it out.”
After activating the slime bloodline, perhaps because he had gained the passive skill Rapid Digestion, Lynn was currently starving.
Seeing Aurora head into the kitchen, Lynn sat down at a nearby dining table, his heart already full of anticipation.
These dishes were things Lynn had never eaten, or even seen, back in the countryside.
The combined price of the two dishes actually reached seventy-five copper coins.
If it were the Lynn from before he became an adventurer, he definitely wouldn't have dared to try them.
This single meal would have cost him a whole month's savings!
But now that he was an adventurer, any random quest he took would earn him enough to eat over a dozen of such feasts.
Adventuring really was the best.
