Upon seeing the words on the paper, No. 5 suddenly curled her lips. “Sincerity, I'm sincerity...”
Leon: “...”
He decided to retract his previous assessment of No. 5.
The level of Alicia-like silliness No. 5 possessed wasn't just one-half, but three-quarters!
“And No. 2... she inherited the Creator's alchemical obsession.”
Evelyn No. 1 continued writing:
“The Creator's obsession was to create an alchemical golem that could possess self-awareness without needing its soul split.”
“No. 2 inherited the Creator's obsession. She is obsessed with alchemical technology and has studied alchemical techniques since her creation.”
“About twenty days ago, she was contaminated by a trace of contaminated mana. This strand of mana suppressed her rationality module, causing her obsessive pursuit of alchemical technology to swell and grow completely unchecked.”
“Now, she intends to violate the orders left by the Creator, seize the alchemical core, leave our home, and go to the outside world to seek out the theories and knowledge of other alchemists to supplement herself...”
“Fortunately, the Creator had already anticipated this situation and set a mandatory prohibition in our alchemical frameworks.”
Evelyn No. 1 changed to another piece of paper and wrote:
“In No. 2's alchemical framework, the mandatory prohibition restricts her from entering the Creator's Sanctuary.”
“No matter what method she uses, she cannot bypass the prohibition to enter the Creator's Sanctuary.”
Leon realized.
“So that's why you snatched the alchemical core and hid inside the Sanctuary.”
“Traitor!” No. 1 nodded and said.
Leon asked again, “You were able to speak the common tongue fluently before, but now you can only say a few simple words. Was that No. 2's doing?”
No. 1 nodded vigorously and wrote:
“Among all of us sisters, No. 2 has the highest attainment in alchemical technology.”
“After suppressing the rampaging No. 4, No. 2 took the opportunity to inject an alchemical virus into my alchemical framework.”
“This virus greatly weakened my abilities. I broke into the Creator's Sanctuary and borrowed the alchemical core to barely disperse it, but the side effect was damage to my alchemical framework, leaving me unable to speak normally.”
Leon nodded slightly and learned many other things from Evelyn No. 1.
This included, but was not limited to, the use of the alchemical core, the location of the Deep Diver, and the alchemical technical data left behind by Evelyn Parker.
Unexpectedly, No. 1 and No. 2 had the same attitude toward the legacy left by Evelyn Parker.
No. 1 also did not value the Deep Diver and the alchemical data left by Evelyn Parker.
In fact, even without Leon asking, No. 1 took the initiative to offer the alchemical data to him.
As for the reason, she said she didn't want to see the things left by the Creator buried deep and unable to see the light of day.
As Unit-01, who inherited Evelyn Parker's humanity, Evelyn No. 1 was, in a sense, a continuation of Evelyn Parker herself.
In addition, Leon also asked Evelyn No. 1 about the Gramophone Golems outside.
Unfortunately, Evelyn No. 1 indicated that those Gramophone Golems were the Creator's failed creations, and their bodies were mixed with a sliver of the Creator's soul.
In other words, it would be very difficult for an ordinary alchemist to reproduce Gramophone Golems.
Leon's grand plan to grind experience was thus ruined.
“Very well, now that we understand so much, we should head back to find No. 2.”
Leon stood up and said.
“We are going?” Evelyn No. 5 was taken aback and asked.
“Not just you and me, but all of us.” Leon pointed at Evelyn No. 5, then at the group of warriors beside him.
“Titus, send a few warriors to watch these two, just in case they try to cause trouble.”
“Yes!”
With that, Leon turned, leading Titus and the group of warriors out of the Creator's Sanctuary, heading back.
In the Sanctuary, only No. 1 and No. 5 were left looking at each other, along with the Limit warriors responsible for guarding them.
...
They retraced their steps.
As they neared the room where No. 2 had been waiting earlier, Leon stopped.
In his perception field, the area ahead was much livelier than before.
He saw Evelyn No. 2 leading a dense crowd of Gramophone Golems and other types of alchemical golems.
She stood expressionless in the corridor, blocking the path of Leon and his group.
“Have you obtained the alchemical core, guest?” Evelyn No. 2's expressionless face asked in a calm voice.
Leon looked at the sea of golems behind Evelyn and grinned.
“Besides, didn't our deal say the alchemical core belongs to me? What, are you going back on your word?”
“But you haven't fulfilled your end of the deal either,” Evelyn No. 2 said.
“Our deal was to kill Evelyn No. 1 and bring Evelyn No. 4 out of the Creator's Sanctuary.”
“You have not done anything agreed upon, guest.”
Leon shrugged.
“Who said I didn't? I've already completed the deal. Follow me to the Creator's Sanctuary to take a look and you'll see.”
“Although I cannot enter the Creator's Sanctuary, I can place alchemical machines at the entrance to observe the inside,” Evelyn No. 2 said calmly.
Leon clicked his tongue. “Tsk. It seems my perception field still has flaws.”
He had indeed sensed some alchemical machines outside the Creator's Sanctuary.
Unfortunately, his alchemical attainment was too shallow, and he didn't recognize the functions of these alchemical machines at all.
Moreover, the ruins were full of alchemical machines, and he couldn't just smash every single one he saw to pieces.
“In that case, there's nothing left to talk about?”
Leon raised his gaze and looked at Evelyn No. 2.
“Hand over the alchemical core, and I can let you leave this place,” Evelyn No. 2 said, her mechanical voice completely flat.
“With the alchemical core, I can modify my alchemical framework and head to the outside world.”
“When that time comes, we can cooperate again.”
“Whether it is gold, power, or status, you can obtain them all through the alchemy workshop I will establish once I am out.”
“These conditions are something that you, who controls Unit-01 and leads a group of creations, shouldn't refuse.”
“Huh?” Leon scratched his head.
Gold? Power? Status?
He had to obtain them through an alchemy workshop she established?
Not to mention Leon, even Ratahn and Titus were somewhat taken aback upon hearing this.
And Scott directly burst out laughing.
Evelyn No. 2 remained calm, or rather, deadpan, and said, “I do not see what is so amusing about that statement.”
Scott, who had burst out laughing, shook his head and said with a sigh:
“The funny part is that you actually think you can tempt Young Master Leon with gold, power, and status!”
“Do you even know who is standing before you? He is the second son of the Prime Minister of the Heron Empire, the Governor of the Southern Province of the Heron Empire, and the most talented Divine Art genius of the Church of Sacred Light!”
“Do you really think Young Master Leon would lack any of those things?”
