Chapter 96 · Volume 1

For My Sake Again?

To be honest, Ain didn't actually want to settle scores with Lillian.
Tonight, he just wanted to get a good night's sleep.
After all, he had to meet up with Emil tomorrow to coordinate the details of their next Typhon Chain mission.
But...
Ain pulled back his blanket.
Lying inside was a little purple-haired kitten.
“You...”
“What? Is there a problem?”
“Get out.”
“No.”
Ain pinched Lillian's cheeks, pulling and stretching them.
“Do you have any idea how miserable I was today?! I barely dared to take a few bites of my dinner! And there you were, adding fuel to the fire! When did Erylin ever like me?! Since when did I have that kind of relationship with her?!”
“Mmph, mmph!”
Protecting her face, Lillian pouted and grumbled, “What's wrong with that? Isn't Erylin super pretty? Don't tell me you don't like her?”
Ain covered his face.
Who the hell would dare to like her?
Orion practically had his fork pressed right against my throat!
“Did you even stop to ask how Erylin feels? You're acting like a total war criminal of a best friend, you know that?”
“Huh? Why would I need to ask? Don't tell me you can't see the way Erylin looks at you... tsk tsk.”
Like a seasoned romance expert, Lillian logically analyzed all of Erylin's facial expressions and movements up to this point.
“And! And! I really don't want Erylin to marry anyone else...”
Lillian averted her eyes.
In her eyes, Ain was the best person in the world, and Erylin, who was the most important person to her, naturally deserved the best as well.
She wanted everyone she cherished to be happy.
Ain looked at Lillian with a face full of disdain.
“Then did you ever think about how I feel?”
“What feelings do you need? Having such a pretty girl buzzing around you every day must feel pretty great, right?”
Ain didn't want to talk to her anymore.
Happiness was never that simple.
The responsibility of one love versus two was completely different.
If that first scene really came to pass...
Ain didn't want to worry about it anymore.
He would just let nature take its course.
“Go back to your room. I'm going to sleep.”
“Oh...”
...
“Are you really not going to reconsider Erylin?”
Ain was about to explode from her pestering.
“Fine, fine, fine. I like Erylin, okay? I don't like you anymore. I'm going to go like Erylin instead. I'll confess to her tomorrow, marry her, and never like you again.”
Lillian puffed out her cheeks.
“You're not allowed to say that!”
“I'll say it anyway. I don't like you anymore, Lillian. Not one bit!”
“Ugh... No, you're not allowed...”
Lillian began to tear up.
Just as Ain's heart softened and he was about to comfort her, he suddenly felt a strange sensation in his body.
Little Ain, the brave hero on a quest to defeat the Demon King, was currently being bound!
The God of Light indicates that He is highly anticipating the upcoming development!
Ah... Damn it...
Can this annoying God please stay far away!
Peeping once was bad enough, but is He going to peep every single day from now on?!
Ain helplessly patted Lillian's head.
“Alright, stop fooling around. I have things to do tomorrow.”
“Go to sleep, I'm begging you.”
Lillian looked at Ain with dissatisfaction.
“Why are you acting... You clearly have a reaction...”
Little Ain, the brave hero on a quest to defeat the Demon King, was slowly growing in strength.
The girl looked at Ain triumphantly, boasting, “Last night, wasn't it me who—mmph, mmph!”
Ain suddenly pulled her into his embrace, a wicked smile playing on his lips once more. Leaning in close to her ear, he whispered, “I went easy on you on purpose last night, and now you're getting cocky?”
“You really want to play, don't you...”
Ain's voice was gentle, but to Lillian, it sounded more like a demon's whisper.
The girl had, after all, underestimated Ain's techniques and “handiwork.”
How should one eat a juicy peach?
Take a huge bite right away?
No, no, no.
Ain now had a unique way of eating it.
First, he had to test the quality of the peach.
“Mmph... Wait! Anything but this...”
The God of Light gently covers His eyes, expressing His skepticism toward your style of play!
Heh! Old virgin!
Ain's preparation for eating the fruit wasn't over yet.
Little Ain had skill cooldowns, but Ain himself didn't have any cooldowns.
“I was wrong... No... I want to go back!”
“If you do this, I'll...”
Ain's smile rivaled that of a great demon king.
“Hehehehehe!”
“If you knew it would turn out like this, why did you push it earlier?”
“Go tell that to your Erylin!”
“Wait! No!”
The God of Light feels a sudden tightness in His lower body and dares not watch any longer!
The God of Light shows His favor toward you!
Mana capacity increased!
...
In the morning, sunlight streamed into the room. A dignified maid walked up to Lillian's door and knocked gently.
“Miss Lillian, breakfast is ready.”
“Miss Lillian?”
Receiving no response, she could only give up.
As a maid, she had no right to force a guest to get out of bed.
When she arrived at Ain's door and was about to knock, she noticed that the door was already slightly ajar.
“Huh?”
But out of habit, she knocked a few times first.
“Mr. Ain, breakfast is ready.”
Seeing no movement inside after a while, she gently pushed the door open. Her gaze swept across the room, only to find men's and women's clothing tangled together on the bed. A lingering warmth of intimacy remained in the air, but the occupants were nowhere to be found.
The only thing out of place was that the bedsheets were missing.
Lillian didn't know where the laundry room was either. She had no choice but to sneak into the bathroom, cradling the crumpled, bunched-up bedsheets in her arms.
“Ugh...”
Recalling what had happened last night, Lillian's face flushed slightly.
She was definitely going to get her revenge!
Just as the girl was about to turn on the water to wash them, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.
“Lillian? What are you doing here?”
“E-E-E-Erylin?!”
The girl hurriedly pulled the bedsheets behind her back to hide them. A deep blush rushed from her ears to her cheeks, but her darting, panicked eyes had already completely given away her secret.
“What's wrong? You can just let the maids at home handle washing the bedsheets.”
Erylin tried to take the sheets from her hands, but Lillian resisted completely.
“No, no, no! I'll do it myself, I can just do it myself!”
With that, the girl tried to turn and leave, but because the bathroom tiles were slippery, she stepped right on the trailing bedsheets.
“Whoa!”
The girl's foot slipped. With a sharp cry, she tumbled straight onto the floor.
“Ouch... That hurts...”
The girl gently rubbed her sore bottom. When she looked back up at Erylin, she realized the other girl was staring at the “battle marks” from last night.
After a brief daze, Erylin asked with a hint of suspicion, “Did you... do it last night?”
“I didn't! I didn't! I absolutely didn't! I was just! I was just...”
The girl was left completely speechless.
Erylin didn't think much of it, nor would she mock Lillian for it.
But to Lillian, this silent composure felt even more chilling.
After a long silence, Lillian looked at Erylin with a tearful, resentful face.
“I only did it for your sake! It was all for you!”
“Eh?”
Erylin blinked cutely, pointing at herself in confusion.
“For my sake again?”
