Chapter 92 · Volume 1

The Plot of Act Three

This was the first time Ain had ever seen such a massive mansion.
What was the background of Erylin's parents again?
Nobles? Merchants? Grand mages?
He had forgotten.
“My Lady, please let me—”
“No need, I can do it myself.”
“Yes, My Lady.”
Erylin dismissed the maid who had come forward to help, then led Ain and Lillian up to the third floor.
“Where are your parents?”
“They should still be over at the main house...”
“So there's more than one building?”
“Yes! This building we're in is actually the guest house. But since we rarely have guests, it was built on the smaller side...”
“S-Small?”
Ain't mouth hung open slightly.
Poverty had truly limited his imagination.
Suddenly, he felt that latching onto Erylin was definitely the right move.
Rich girls are the best. Rich girls are absolutely the best.
He definitely had to secure this wealthy sugar mommy.
“Anyway, this is your room.”
As Erylin opened the door, a highly luxurious living suite came into view. The walls of the room were adorned with dark gold cloud patterns, their borders intricately embroidered with silver thread depicting the family's vine totem.
On the ceiling, a magical chandelier carved from hundreds of deep blue mana crystals slowly rotated, casting down a soft, brilliant glow of light and shadow.
The air was filled with a faint, cool scent of mixed incense and parchment, with intricate lace drapes half-shading the window.
“Lillian, I'll take you to the other room.”
“Okay!”
The two of them left the room.
Staring at the sheer abundance of magnificent decorations, Ain's hands trembled slightly.
This is way too damn rich!
“No, no, no, that's not the important part...”
Holding his head in distress, Ain carefully scanned the surrounding decor.
The bedsheets, the decorations, the wardrobe...
Isn't this the exact crime scene from my very first vision?!
What was meant to come would always come.
Ain figured that Erylin probably didn't have any romantic feelings for him right now. It was likely just a friendly fondness and gratitude born from him saving Lillian.
Besides, I already have Lillian. I shouldn't go and ruin Erylin too, right?
Taking both best friends for myself?
What the hell did I even do to end up driving two trains at once?!
Ain couldn't help but slap himself.
How can you be such scum, you bastard!
Taking a deep breath, Ain tossed his messy thoughts aside. He lay on the bed for a while before opening his luggage to organize his things.
“Three months...”
Please reclaim the Wings of Dawn!
Staring at the prompt on his status panel, Ain fell into deep thought.
The final chapter of Act Three was the Battle for the Holy Spear.
But before the final chapter arrived, there were two other major events in the story of Act Three: Part One and Part Two.
First was the origin of Act Three, which was Part One...
The Saint Heles Auction.
The largest auction house in the south, and a gathering place for all nobility.
According to the original plot, an eye-catching auction item would appear.
A Tier 6 magical tool: the Redeemer's Guide.
It was an ancient compass passed down for hundreds of years, said to be a high-level magical tool lost by a Tier 7 Mage in a certain battle.
And the true value of this tool lay in its ability to precisely guide its user to the holy spear left behind in the mortal realm by the Goddess of Light—the "Wings of Dawn."
Not only that, but the compass was also the sole key to opening that secret realm.
According to the original plot, this item would eventually trigger a fierce struggle among all the present factions.
And this would also be the first time in history that the Saint Heles Auction descended into such complete and utter chaos.
Everyone believed that whoever obtained the compass would obtain the holy spear.
“Who would have known that the holy spear was actually incomplete from the very beginning?”
Ain chuckled.
Tier 7 Magical Tool: Holy Judgment - Wings of Dawn (Fragment)
“First a compass, then a holy spear, and then a fragment...”
“These people really are scatterbrained.”
Then, with a flick of his right wrist, a Card of Canal materialized in Ain's palm.
Spirit Card (White Card)
5White Dragon
His gaze fell upon the face of the card, where a silver-white giant dragon roared toward the sky. The scales covering its body shimmered with a cold light, and its sharp, massive claws literally tore through the darkness of the abyss.
Staring at the white dragon on the card, Ain murmured.
“If I remember correctly, the giant dragon that appears right before the Battle for the Holy Spear in Act Three, Part Two... should be this one.”
Occurring after the auction incident, the second major event in Act Three was the White Dragon Subjugation Battle.
A Tier 6 mythical monster, the Pale Silver Dragon—Angelica.
Grace, the Saintess of the Church, would meet Erylin at the auction. After the two of them secured the compass amidst the chaos, they agreed to let Grace keep it safe.
Exactly one month after their agreement, on the eve of their departure to the secret realm pointed out by the compass, the silver-white giant dragon on the card would track the scent and come knocking on their door.
Although the original game didn't explain the reason for its arrival, it was highly likely that it also came for the compass and the holy spear.
At that point, players would embark on a two-week-long escape battle alongside Erylin and Grace.
To snatch the compass, all the various factions would have no choice but to launch attacks against the white dragon.
While the white dragon kept everyone occupied, Erylin and Grace would make their way to the secret realm, where the holy spear would finally be revealed once the compass was inserted.
Following that, Grace—who served as the vessel to absorb the holy spear—would be heavily injured by the shockwaves of the white dragon's attacks while protecting Erylin. This would bring an end to her pitifully short life, securing the holy spear for Erylin.
But in the end, the female lead, Erylin, would still gain absolutely nothing, except for the loss of a friend she had known for less than two months.
Act Three was simply a tragedy with zero harvest from start to finish.
The White Dragon Subjugation Battle would also claim countless casualties.
But why did Grace end up dying in his arms in that third vision? Besides, that scene didn't look like the secret realm, nor was there any sign of a white dragon...
Could that have happened after the conclusion of Act Three?
And when he asked Lillian if she had an older sister, she also said she didn't know and had no memory of one.
Ain shook his head to clear his thoughts.
The academy was also involved in this storyline. Next, he would have to meet up with Emil to coordinate their specific mission, which he guessed would likely be related to this auction.
“Maybe I should just cause a massive scene and secretly steal that compass myself...”
“Or right when Part Two kicks off, before any of the other factions can even react, I could just blast a few Tier 5 spells right at that stupid dragon's head...”
Ain lay back on the bed, letting his mind go completely blank.
“Though, she's Tier 6... I don't think I can beat her right now...”
“If I could somehow make that white dragon my Contract Spirit, riding her would probably look incredibly majestic...”
Ain couldn't help but begin to daydream about that scene—riding on the back of that silver-white giant dragon, soaring through layers of clouds, riding freely across the vast sky, and looking down upon the earth below.
“I really want to ride her...”
