“Let’s go.”
“Lord Arbiter, there are still eight others...”
“There’s no need to interrogate them.”
Cyril waved his hand, signaling the other party to leave. He had already quietly listened to the entire conversation between the two from the side.
“It seems he is far more powerful than you imagined.”
Hearing Tina's words, Cyril felt as if someone had forcibly stuffed a handful of foul-smelling mud into his mouth. Disgust and fury instantly surged in his chest. It wasn't until they walked out of the interrogation room that he cursed.
“Tina, seriously, I used to think you just lacked critical thinking. Only now do I realize you don't even qualify to be defined!”
Tina didn't get angry. Instead, she nodded gently, quietly waiting for him to continue.
“Do you really think the person those two were talking about was actually Sevis?”
Cyril let out a soft chuckle.
“A mere Tier 4 Mage had absolutely no other choice if he wanted to keep so many students safe in such a tight timeframe! The only way was to completely slaughter all the magical beasts that had infiltrated the academic area, so those students could return safely to the Prosecution Office!”
“But with such a massive workload, his mana shouldn't have been enough, right?”
Tina frowned, while Cyril smiled happily. “I’m glad you can understand this. Perhaps I need to re-evaluate you, Tina.”
Immediately after, Cyril spoke again. “Aside from all that, he even captured ten members of the Nightingale Secret Order!”
“Although those people were only at Tier 3 strength, to clear out the magical beasts and defeat them in such a short amount of time... what kind of means do you think he used?”
Tina thought for a moment, then spoke up. “If he could do all of that at the same time, it can only mean his strength has reached a level of absolute dominance.”
Cyril nodded slightly, a chilling wariness flickering in the depths of his eyes.
“An inexhaustible mana reserve, and strength that completely surpasses Tier 4—do you really think this is something a Tier 4 Mage could achieve?”
“The person who showed up tonight wasn't Sevis at all!”
“He isn't one of ours, he can't be from the academy, and he definitely isn't one of those Nightingale Secret Order bastards!”
Tina gently stroked her hair and asked nonchalantly, “So after going through such a huge detour, did that person go to all this trouble just to pave the way for Sevis and build a perfect persona for him?”
Cyril was stumped by the question.
In this current situation, who would possibly come to help him?
He had already been cut off by the Xavier family, he had no allies in the Titan Prosecution Office, and there was no one around him...
Wait!
Cyril seemed to suddenly think of something.
The recent rumors about Sevis!
Just yesterday, there seemed to be a student who actually defeated him in a duel.
That person's name was...
“Since he could easily rescue so many students, his next move... could it be to deal with the witch at the center of the unrest?”
Tina suddenly spoke up, as if discussing an impossible conjecture. The smile at the corners of her lips grew more intense, and her voice carried a morbid excitement.
“If he can completely muddy this stagnant pool of water, this thrill of losing control... Oh my, that is just too fascinating!”
“I really want to see what kind of wonderful expressions those high-and-mighty people at the top will make—not just the academy's upper echelon, but also my Chief Arbiter! When he finds the order he painstakingly maintained torn to shreds, his face... what a beautiful picture that will be!”
“Oh my! Cyril, I really want to help him!”
The so-called divide between ally and enemy never seemed to be a boundary in Tina's eyes; she didn't care at all which side she stood on.
At this moment, she possessed only an extreme longing to shatter the existing order.
To her, nothing was more exciting than pushing everything into chaos.
But this also allowed Cyril to find the key point amidst his cluttered thoughts.
The witch!
...
“My Lady, what are you doing?”
“I have to help him!”
“But you have already...”
“I don't care!”
Sevis bit her lower lip hard. Ain had shouldered all of this for her; how could she accept this favor with a clear conscience?
So what if she hadn't closed her eyes for two days?
So what if she had taken a slightly larger dose of the potion?
“You already told me he's going to save Lillian, and that's the center of the riot! How can I...”
Suddenly, Sevis seemed to lose all her strength. Her head instantly grew heavy, and her voice gradually faded.
Damn it, the potion's effect is already...
Sevis's consciousness gradually blurred, and two days of exhaustion surged up at this moment.
“My Lady, if I had known, I shouldn't have told you this.”
Rosalind steadily caught the collapsing Sevis, carrying her over to lay her on the sofa. She then leaned over slightly, letting Sevis's head rest on her lap, her fingertips casually brushing through her loose hair.
“It seems I believe in him even more than you do~”
Rosalind flashed a smile. She couldn't explain why, but at this moment, she wasn't worried about Ain's situation at all.
She believed Ain could resolve everything.
Seeing that the other was fast asleep, Rosalind gently caressed Sevis's forehead, a faint blush rising on her face.
At the thought of having that unspeakable secret with Ain behind her master's back, Rosalind's breathing grew completely erratic.
That complex emotion gripped her instantly—half of it was the extreme terror of being discovered, while the other half was, surprisingly, a suffocating excitement in anticipation of the secret being exposed.
She bit her lower lip hard, trying to maintain her surface poise, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curve into a soft giggle.
“There is still a promise between him and me~”
...
“Erylin...”
“I'm sorry.”
“Wait!”
Erylin snapped her eyes open and quickly sat up in bed. She clutched her chest tightly, her mind flashing back to the terrifying image of Lillian plunging her right hand into her heart.
She gasped for air, cold sweat drenching her back. When her vision finally focused, taking in the completely unfamiliar room and hospital bed, only a single, near-desperate thought remained in her mind.
Where is Lillian?
