Chapter 112 · Volume 1

My Daughter's Man Is Being Snatched Away!

Lillian stood there blankly, her mind still struggling to process this massive amount of information.
“Hmm?”
Rosalind looked at Lillian with a mischievous smirk. The latter's eyes were vacant, and she couldn't utter a single word.
Wasn't Erylin supposed to be engaged to Ain?
How was he about to be snatched away by someone else now?!
Looking at the other woman's triumphant posture, Lillian was completely dumbfounded.
This isn't right. The script wasn't written like this, was it?
Did someone hold the script upside down?!
Meanwhile, Ain felt a sudden shiver run down his spine.
A man can't do that... at least, he shouldn't...
“No, no, no! Rosalind, are you serious? And Sevis, is he serious too? You guys aren't joking, are you?!”
“My sexual orientation is perfectly normal! I only think of him as a good brother... I—!”
Ain was at a loss for words.
So the reason Sevis didn't get married in Act Five of the game was because...
He was gay?!
At the thought of how many things he had done to help Sevis and how much favorability he had farmed, Ain instantly felt a wave of terror.
Finding a backer was the right move...
But this backer wasn't supposed to try and top me!
Rosalind maintained the smile on her face as she spoke, “What are you talking about?”
“How could it possibly be the Young Master marrying you?”
“Two men can't do that sort of thing together, can they?”
“...What?”
Ain froze for a moment, then heard Orion speak up from behind him, “It's Imeve.”
Orion carefully examined the invitation. It was written there in black and white—the primary heir of the Xavier family, Imeve Xavier.
“However... I have maintained a deep family friendship with the successive heads of the Xavier family, yet I have never heard of this person's name within the main family recently.”
“Among the current heirs of the Xavier family, shouldn't there only be those three?”
Rosalind nodded gently.
“Miss Imeve was originally a member of our family's branch, but due to some... minor matters recently, she is now a member of the main family.”
Orion frowned.
Nobles always placed great importance on the selection of heirs, let alone a grand family like the Xaviers.
How could they suddenly allow a branch member to become one of the candidates for the family succession overnight?
And the primary heir, at that!
Orion's first reaction was that the interior of the Xavier family was no longer as peaceful as it appeared on the surface.
Moreover, he hadn't heard any news about the family head, Wesley, recently.
“Imeve?”
Ain was stunned.
“Wait, Imeve, getting married, with me? Shouldn't it be with Sevis? Isn't she a royal princess? When did she become a member of your branch family?”
“I never said she was a member of the royal family. Young Master Ain, you didn't even let me finish speaking back then, did you?”
Rosalind chuckled softly.
“My exact words back then were that Miss Imeve was originally supposed to marry into the royal family, and Young Master Sevis was also highly supportive of it, but Miss Imeve herself was unwilling.”
“But now, Miss Imeve has explicitly named you as the one she wants to be with, you know?”
“Huh?”
Ain smacked his forehead.
What on earth was going on?
What exactly had happened in the middle of all this?
Shouldn't the Boss just live happily ever after with his woman? Why did I have to be dragged into this!
Boss, aren't you just completely screwing me over!
To figure out the reason behind this, Ain quickly asked, “But when we were on the road, didn't you say...”
“Alright, Young Master Ain, let us leave it at that for today.”
Rosalind interrupted him, seemingly unwilling to disclose any more information.
“It seems you also have matters to discuss, do you not?”
Rosalind swept a casual glance over Erylin, performed a standard maid's bow, and then said no more, taking her leave.
This brief scene gave Ain a massive shock.
What was wrong with this trash plotline!
Boss, I found a woman for you, so why are you returning her to me?
I don't want her!
Ain couldn't help but feel that the outcome of the second vision Lola had shown him seemed to have changed, yet at the same time, it hadn't.
What on earth had happened in places he wasn't aware of?
Maybe he should go ask Sevis himself in a few days?
Ah... so tired...
Right now, Ain only wanted to have a good meal and go to sleep.
Having used the blessing and then forcibly constructed three Tier 5 spells, he now felt both physically and mentally exhausted.
Aside from preparing for the dragon and the auction, Emil had specifically left a message before departing, telling him to wait for news because the Dean was apparently coming too.
Recalling the last sentence Rosalind had said before leaving, Ain sighed and turned his gaze back to Erylin, who was still standing there blankly.
“By the way, Erylin, didn't you have something to say just now?”
“Ah... what?”
Erylin didn't seem to have recovered from this explosive piece of news yet.
Ain asked suspiciously, “Did you have something you wanted to—”
“Ah! No, no! Nothing! There's nothing! Absolutely nothing!”
Erylin waved her left hand frantically, while her right hand, hidden out of Ain's line of sight, tore the invitation she had been "forced" to prepare by her mother into tiny shreds.
“Why don't we go inside and eat first? The maids should have finished preparing the meal, you know?”
Erylin smiled faintly and took the lead in walking toward the house.
Looking at her daughter's somewhat lonely back, Adela instantly felt a surge of anxiety.
She walked over to Orion's side, linked her arm through his, and smiled at Ain and Lillian.
“That's true. Let's head inside and eat first, shall we?”
With that, she dragged her husband toward the house, her right hand pinching and twisting hard on his arm.
“Hiss!”
Orion cried out in pain.
“Oh, dear, what's the matter?”
“Adela...”
“Hmm?”
At the thought of Erylin's embarrassed look in front of Ain just now, the strength in Adela's hand increased even more.
She leaned close to Orion's ear, her voice soft, yet sounding like a devil's whisper.
“The boy our daughter has her heart set on is about to be snatched away by someone else, you know?”
“And this is all your doing...”
Orion felt completely wronged.
“No, no, no, I was just...”
“Hmm?”
Adela wished she could pinch off a whole chunk of flesh from his arm.
This morning he was still talking about waiting a while before the engagement, and now Ain was already being snatched away by another family!
I'll teach you to wait!
Adela increased her force yet again.
If they waited any longer, the child would probably be a year old by then!
What's more, the other party was blatantly stealing him on their own territory!
Wasn't this a blatant provocation!
“My dear, if you can't get this sorted out...”
“Don't even think about sleeping tonight.”
Seeing Adela's terrifying smile, Orion's heart tightened. Like a child who had made a mistake, he nodded frantically.
In the end, he could only blame all of this on Ain.
First you kidnap my daughter, and now you want me to humbly hand her over to you on a silver platter...
Ain, you damned brat!
Just as Ain was about to step into the estate, Lillian grabbed his sleeve from behind, looking up at him pitifully.
“So, were you actually out with another girl today?”
“Am I not... the first anymore...?”
Lillian was on the verge of tears again.
