Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
A series of sharp, whistling sounds tore through the air overhead.
Iron Bull and a few others couldn't help but look up.
They saw fireballs with long tails of flame streaking across the sky, shooting toward the two dragons locked in a fierce battle amidst the clouds.
To be precise, most of the fireballs were aimed at the black dragon.
Only a few stray fireballs flew toward the wyvern and Renn on its back.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As the fireballs drew near, they exploded violently, as if detonated on purpose.
The clouds were dyed a crimson red.
Before the rain could even fall, it vaporized into thick steam,
shrouding the black dragon and the wyvern within.
But it didn't seem to have caused any actual damage.
A furious dragon roar echoed, and a burst of multicolored light flashed through the mist.
Soon after, the black dragon wearing the iron underpants charged out of the mist, diving toward the direction the fireballs had come from.
spraying a stream of acid from his mouth.
But before he could get close, several beams of sword qi slashed at him from behind,
forcing Daviel to turn back and defend himself.
As for the acid, before it could even get close, it was blasted to pieces by a concentrated barrage of fireballs.
The scattered acid was completely blocked by a series of pre-prepared shields.
At the same time, several massive ballista bolts tore through the sky,
accompanied by countless fireballs,
as they shot straight toward the black dragon!
Faced with these massive bolts, Daviel finally showed a look of wariness, constantly dodging in midair.
Every time a bolt grazed his body, it kicked up a shower of sparks.
Clearly, even with his current physical strength, Daviel could not head-on tank these terrifying, lethal weapons.
Under these circumstances, in this duel of top-tier powerhouses, the black dragon was actually starting to fall into a slight disadvantage.
And this...
...was simply because the Duchy of Reny's siege ballistas and mage regiment had arrived on the battlefield.
Arriving alongside them was the cleric regiment!
Prayers praising the gods began to echo, reverberating between heaven and earth.
Beams of holy light materialized out of thin air, showering down upon the chaotic battlefield.
Under the illumination of the holy light, the fear and hesitation on the faces of the human soldiers, who had been at a disadvantage, vanished instantly.
All that remained was fanaticism and bliss.
They seemed to have forgotten all pain, becoming utterly crazed.
They swung their weapons with reckless, suicidal abandon.
To them, death...
...seemed to have become a form of pleasure!
In contrast, the beastkin and half-beastkin, though also bathed in the holy light, received no blessings whatsoever.
As cursed races, they were naturally spurned by the gods.
No matter which deity's church it was, none of their buffing divine spells would work on them.
In this state, the combat strength of the human side actually surged by several tens of percent out of thin air.
They were gradually entering a stalemate with the forces of the God-Forsaken Land.
In some areas of the battlefield, they were even starting to gain the upper hand.
Witnessing all this, anxiety crept onto Iron Bull's face.
It wasn't because the pressure on him had surged due to the soldiers closing in under the blessing of the holy light.
Rather, he was worried about his two comrades:
Muge the gnoll and One-Horn the sheepkin.
One of them was half-dead,
while the other was severely injured.
Faced with the buffed human soldiers, they would likely have a very difficult time.
Thus, Iron Bull made up his mind. He prepared to break through the encirclement and go back to support his two companions.
But just as he swung his battleaxe, a weak shout came from behind him.
“Hey! Don't go yet!”
At the same time, the fur of the frost wolf beneath him bristled, and it bared its teeth as it looked back.
Iron Bull turned his head and saw the Imperial Guard member in the power armor gripping the frost wolf's tail tightly with his steel-clad hand.
Before Iron Bull could ask, the Imperial Guard tossed his broadsword aside, knocking down several approaching soldiers.
He then grabbed the wolf's tail with his other hand as well.
Amidst the explosions of fireballs and various roars,
a voice even weaker than before—almost muffled—drifted out from inside the armor.
“Those... those ballista bolts... they are a threat to His Grace...”
Iron Bull froze.
He instinctively looked toward the edge of the battlefield.
From his elevated position riding the frost wolf, he could just barely make out the distance.
Over there, several massive mounted ballistas had appeared at some point.
There were also figures in mage robes standing beside them, launching fireballs into the sky.
Awooo!
The frost wolf seemed to absolutely despise having its tail pulled.
In its rage, it reared up, slamming its front paws down to pin several charging human soldiers beneath them.
Then, it made a move to turn around and bite the Imperial Guard behind it.
Seeing this, Iron Bull quickly used the flat of his battleaxe to smack the frost wolf hard on the head,
forcibly calming the massive beast down.
Then, he roared at the Imperial Guard behind him:
“What are you trying to say?!”
Cough, cough, cough!
Seemingly aggravating his wound, a series of violent coughs echoed from beneath the power armor.
“Take me... Take me to destroy those... machines launching the bolts!”
Iron Bull was taken aback.
He stared intently at the horrific wound on the Imperial Guard's abdomen.
Because of his movements, some of his internal organs had already begun to spill out.
It was a gruesome sight.
As if fearing Iron Bull's hesitation, a burst of final strength seemed to surge within the armor, and he roared even louder:
“There's no time! I'm not going to make it, take me there quickly!”
These words were like a heavy hammer,
slamming hard into Iron Bull's mind!
Although he was highly skeptical about how someone in this state could destroy those massive ballistas,
there was no time for second-guessing on a battlefield.
Even though Iron Bull was deeply worried about the safety of his two comrades,
he knew even better:
if they lost this war, none of them would survive!
So, hesitating for less than half a second, Iron Bull placed his unconditional trust in this person he had only just met.
He squeezed his legs tightly against the wolf's flanks and slammed the flat of his battleaxe hard onto its rump.
He hit it so hard that the frost wolf couldn't help but let out a painful yelp!
Awooo!!!
Amidst the wolf's howl, the frost wolf charged forward like a wild bull, directly plowing through the soldiers blocking its path!
Like a draft beast pulling a cart, it dragged the heavy black chunk of metal behind it as it galloped away!
Atop the wolf's back, Iron Bull kept his eyes locked ahead with absolute determination.
He swung his battleaxe continuously,
cleaving through anyone who stood in his way!
Since the wolf knights were currently tied down by the Imperial Guards in power armor,
the minotaur at this moment...
...was absolutely unstoppable!
Charge!
Charge!
He kept charging!
One by one, human soldiers were ruthlessly sent flying by the frost wolf.
They scattered everywhere like bowling pins.
Closer!
Closer!!
Even closer!!!
At the edge of the battlefield, the massive siege engines loomed larger and larger in Iron Bull's eyes.
Behind him, the dragged Dart clenched his fists in excitement.
This made the frost wolf let out another wail, pushing its running speed to a whole new level!
Thud!
Finally! They burst out of the chaotic battlefield!
In the midst of the desolate yellow sands, beneath the gloomy curtain of rain...
a wolf,
a bull,
and a suit of armor,
charged fearlessly toward the rows of mages and clerics!
And behind them...
...the siege ballistas!
Awooo!
It was at this moment that these rear-guard units noticed the minotaur rider charging right at them.
They weren't particularly surprised.
In fact, quite a few beastkin, half-beastkin, and even fleeing humans had charged toward them earlier.
But they had all been turned into charred corpses.
Thus, these rear-guard units didn't panic, continuing to cast their spells as usual.
Only a few mages stopped bombarding the sky.
They turned to face the rushing minotaur,
launching fireball after fireball!
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
The fireballs rapidly expanded in his vision, but Iron Bull's eyes held nothing but resolve.
There was no turning back now.
He roared and bellowed, slapping the flat of his axe hard against the frost wolf's rump!
forcing the massive, now-cowardly beast to let out a series of wails!
Screaming in deafening despair, it surged forward even faster.
Bam!
They crashed head-on into the oncoming fireballs!
Boom!
The violent explosion kicked up a massive cloud of steam!
Shrouded in the misty cloud, the mages assumed the threat had been dealt with.
But in the next second,
they discovered the frost wolf, carrying the minotaur, charging right out of the mist!
Steam billowed from their bodies, and their fur was completely singed.
If one got closer, they could even smell the scent of roasted meat.
Yet, they kept charging!
At some point, another deep gash from the axe blade had appeared on the frost wolf's rump.
Tears filled its eyes, but it could only wail as it continued to sprint.
This was because Iron Bull was pressed flat against its back, the reins clamped between his teeth,
holding his axe right against the frost wolf's neck!
The distance closed!
Even closer!!
The mages began to grow surprised.
More mages noticed the sudden, uninvited guest.
Fiery red magic circles manifested before them one after another.
Sparks of fire elements began to gather.
This minotaur had thoroughly annoyed them.
These noble masters of magic...
...prepared to wipe this pest out in a single wave!
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!!!
Almost simultaneously, dozens of fireballs—each several times larger than before—howled through the air!
Before the fireballs even reached them, the frost wolf sensed the mortal danger.
If it were hit by that many fireballs, even it would be turned into a pile of ash!
Right at that moment, Iron Bull suddenly yanked the reins!
Receiving the command, the frost wolf felt as if it had been granted a divine pardon.
It hastily veered to the side!
And the consequence of such a sharp, emergency turn was—
—it pulled a direct 180-degree drift right on the spot!
Whoosh!
The massive figure it had been dragging behind suddenly let go at this exact moment.
He was flung forward by the momentum!
The massive black power armor brushed right past the incoming fireballs!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The fireballs instantly engulfed the frost wolf, which hadn't had time to escape.
At the very last second, Iron Bull only had enough time to leap off the frost wolf's back,
attempting to use the frost wolf's body to shield himself from the incoming inferno.
Meanwhile, the mages stared in utter bewilderment at the rapidly expanding black shadow before them.
It was a pitch-black suit of power armor.
Right now, the mithril circuits on the armor's surface were flashing with a rapid, frantic red light!
Clack!
The armor's helmet suddenly popped open,
revealing a pale, canine face.
On his face...
...was a smile!
A fierce, savage grin!!
The mages' eyes went wide, their faces twisting in sheer terror.
They keenly sensed a violently wild energy erupting within the black armor!
Time was so short that...
...these low-tier mages didn't even have time to construct their mana barriers!
