Aside from those, there was also a notebook.
It contained records of spellcasting experiences and insights.
“Good stuff!”
Irene opened the books and began to read.
A dragon's memory was exceptionally strong; she practically skimmed through the four books at lightning speed.
Aside from 《The Wandering Knight Fell in Love with Me!》, which gave Irene a bit of a headache,
the magic knowledge recorded in the other books was highly useful.
Although dragons naturally awakened their innate magic as they grew,
which was the so-called Dragon Language Magic,
the more powerful the innate magic, the slower it was to awaken.
Generally, dragons only obtained a rich foundation of magic during their adolescent or even young adult dragon stages,
allowing them to freely cast spells and use their innate magic in battle.
Before that, most dragons could only rely on their breath attacks and physical bodies for very primitive combat.
With these magic books, she could completely master them in a short time, gaining the spellcasting abilities of a mage of the same rank in her early stages.
Combined with a dragon's naturally powerful physique and dragon breath,
it could even achieve a one-plus-one-equals-three effect.
“Heh! I really am a genius!”
After carefully storing the magic books into her space gem, Irene began rummaging through the other space gems.
The contents inside were mostly the same.
They were all clothes, food, and gold coins,
along with some useless magic items and books.
Irene had no interest in books belonging to other classes; she threw them back after a quick glance.
While Irene was inspecting the space gems, Daviel also imitated her, rummaging through the space gem in his hand.
“Hey, Sis, do I look good?”
Daviel suddenly called out.
Irene turned her head and saw Daviel wearing a pair of black lace panties on his head.
His two large eyes happened to peek out from either side of the thong.
The faint magical fluctuations radiating from the underwear proved that it was a piece of magic gear.
Even though it was stretched completely out of shape by Daviel's massive head, there was still no sign of tearing.
“How about it, how about it? Do I look good?”
Daviel blinked, pulling the underwear down a bit more to cover his mouth.
His voice became somewhat muffled.
With the proud nature of dragons, they never deigned to record trivial matters like the attire of other races into the Draconic Inheritance.
The inheritance only contained some of the most common clothing information.
Thus, this Daviel had no idea how this item was supposed to be worn.
Even when the dwarf had worn a bikini earlier, he had only thought the outfit looked funny,
not realizing it was being worn completely wrong.
Irene desperately held back her laughter, her face flushing hot from the effort.
She had to bite her tongue hard to keep from laughing out loud.
But honestly,
if one looked at it from a different angle,
the black underwear paired with Daviel's face full of black scales actually bore a slight resemblance to Batman.
If Batman's outfit made him look like a giant black bat, then Daviel with underwear on his head...
looked like a giant black plum!
“Ahem.”
Coughing twice to suppress the laughter in her heart, Irene placed her claw on Daviel's shoulder and said solemnly:
“It's absolutely handsome. Remember to show it to Mom when we get back so she can appreciate it.”
“Of course!”
Daviel struck a pose he deemed incredibly cool,
gazing up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle, smacking his dragon lips, and looking at Irene with his profile.
“Don't fall for me, Sis. I'm a dragon you can never have.”
Irene: “...”
Ignoring the narcissistic dragon, Irene began digging a hole in the ground.
“Sis, what are you doing?”
Daviel asked.
“Hiding our things, of course. Otherwise, Mom will definitely snatch them when we get back...”
Irene raised her head, but she choked on her words halfway through.
In just that short span of time, a pink bra had appeared on Daviel's face.
It seemed he was using it as an eyepatch.
The size was surprisingly perfect.
“You...”
Irene had never felt holding back laughter to be so agonizing.
Her face was practically contorting from the effort.
“Me what?”
The little black dragon extended a claw to scratch some itchy scales on his head.
“I remember the inheritance records saying this thing is called an eyepatch. It's pretty neat!”
“Oh, right, I have more here. Sis, do you want to wear one?”
With a faint shimmer from the space gem in Daviel's hand,
a white bra and a pair of white stockings appeared in his grasp.
“Huh?”
The expression on Irene's face instantly froze.
The air fell dead silent.
Daviel pushed up his 'eyepatch' and looked at the suddenly silent Irene, asking in confusion,
“Sis, do you not know how to wear it?”
“No big deal, I'll help you put it on.”
As he spoke, he prepared to slip the stocking over the horns on Irene's head.
“Thud!”
Without hesitation, Irene punched the little black dragon on the head, successfully stopping his wicked hand in its tracks.
“Wear it yourself. I'm not interested.”
With that, she went back to digging her hole.
Having taken a heavy blow, Daviel rubbed his head, grunted twice, and straightened his crooked eyepatch.
Then, he slipped the stockings over his own horns.
“Fine, if you won't wear them, I will!”
After a short while, having dug a three-meter-deep hole, Irene looked at the three space gems in her hand.
She took out ten gold coins from them,
and then tossed the gems into the freshly dug hole.
These gold coins were meant to be handed over to Mother Dragon as a perfunctory tribute.
After all, they had called Mother Dragon to save them; it would be bad form not to offer anything.
As the saying goes, everyone gets a share.
Although, with Mother Dragon's immense wealth, she probably wouldn't care for these few gold coins anyway.
But they still had to go through the motions.
Otherwise, if they didn't hand them over, Mother Dragon would probably just rob them directly, given the nature of chromatic dragons.
It was just like how parents 'safekeep' New Year's red envelope money.
Turning around, Irene looked at Daviel.
The fellow was shaking his head like a rattle, the two stockings slipped over his horns fluttering in the wind.
Stopping him, Irene explained that they needed to hand over some gold coins.
Daviel looked at the space gem in his hand and, with great reluctance, fished out five gold coins.
After a moment of thought, he put two back.
After thinking some more, he put another two back.
This Daviel seemed exceptionally unwilling to part with the very first asset of his dragon life.
Seeing that he was even considering putting the last gold coin back, Irene snatched the space gem away.
With a clatter, she poured out a handful of gold coins from it.
Then, she tossed the gem into the hole.
...
By the time the two hatchlings returned to the lair, Mother Dragon had already returned.
She was currently sprawled over her hoard of treasure, her gaze fixed squarely on the two little dragons crawling in from the cave entrance.
After exchanging a glance with Irene, Daviel walked forward with a grimace of pain, holding a small handful of gold coins.
“Mother, we have dealt with a group of ill-intentioned adventurers.”
“This is their treasure, and we dedicate all of it to you, Mother.”
As he spoke, he licked his dry lips and placed the handful of gold coins in front of Mother Dragon.
Coiled atop her mountain of treasure, Mother Dragon lowered her eyes, sweeping her gaze over the tiny, unremarkable pile of gold coins,
She then stared at the oddly dressed Daviel for a moment.
Her gaze then shifted to Irene, who was standing further away, and she spoke:
“Irene, Daviel, you both now possess the ability to survive on your own. It is time for you to leave my territory.”
