Chapter 355 · Volume 1

Special Circumstances

Po Kong’s whisper was naturally caught by Xia Duo’s excellent hearing. Understanding his thoughts, she sighed softly, set aside her shyness, and stepped forward to stand beside him. Then, she bowed deeply to Angela.
“Aunt Angela, thank you for agreeing to my unreasonable request. Our Starry Moon Shadow will surely go all out for this mission and achieve our goal perfectly.”
Seeing Xia Duo’s solemn demeanor, Starlight and the other two followed suit, bowing deeply to Angela to express their sincere gratitude and respect.
“Alright, you little ones don’t need to bow to me. Since you’ve made your decision, depart as soon as possible. I still need to treat Lord You, so I won’t see you out. I’ve already transmitted your information to the border guards via the World Tree; they will temporarily lift the blockade.”
With a gentle lift of her hand, Angela raised them from afar. Starlight and the others realized the meeting was drawing to a close.
Just as the four were about to leave, Starlight suddenly turned around and requested solemnly, “Senior, could you grant me one more small request?”
“Oh? Let’s hear it,” Angela replied, somewhat surprised. “If it’s a reasonable request, I will grant it.”
“If you find any news of Lian, please let us know immediately. We want to bring her back ourselves!” Starlight’s voice was firm and deep.
“Of course. As friends of the Princess, you deserve to know. Lord You would surely agree. However, you must be careful. The World Tree tells me there is a significant secret hidden behind all of this...”
With that, Angela gave them one last deep look and waved her sleeve. A gentle force sent the four out of the core space.
...
“Po Kong, can you stop messing around? If you keep this up, I’ll go back and ask Aunt Angela to take it back!”
On the way back, Po Kong was like a child with a new toy. He kept pulling the new scythe from his back, swinging it around, and then joyfully strapping it back on.
After he repeated this several times, Xia Duo grew impatient and finally spoke up with a warning, her voice carrying a hint of a threat.
“Wait! Little Shadow, I’ll stop, okay!?” Po Kong’s expression changed instantly, and he gripped the scythe tightly as if Xia Duo might snatch it away the next second.
Watching Po Kong’s sudden shift, Starlight found it hilarious. No matter how fearless he acted in front of others, he was completely whipped by Xia Duo.
“Tsk, tsk. Po Kong, if you actually end up with Big Sister, you’ll definitely be henpecked... But seriously, do you plan to carry it on your back the whole time? It’s way too eye-catching,” Moen teased with a laugh, pointing at his back.
“Little Crescent, what are you talking about? How could I be henpecked...” Po Kong started to protest, but he caught Xia Duo’s murderous glare. He shivered and quickly changed his tune. “Ahem... actually, I haven’t decided how to handle this scythe yet. It’s great, but it’s a bit bulky and doesn’t have a transformation function.”
Thinking about the giant scythe on his back, Po Kong felt a headache coming on. Carrying it around would draw way too much attention.
Considering their upcoming mission to the Crimson City-State required them to keep a low profile, carrying this weapon was the opposite of discreet.
Moen nodded in agreement. “Right. A weapon like Sacred Wood Phantom is beyond the scope of ordinary items. I’m afraid my storage space can’t hold it...”
Starlight raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Why not? Is there something special about it?”
Seeing Starlight’s confusion, Po Kong hurried to explain.
It turned out that weapons belonging to Saint Rank powerhouses were deeply bound to their master’s aura during the forging process. They possessed far more spirituality than ordinary weapons. If someone else tried to use them, there would be a certain level of rejection.
Although Angela had used the power of the World Tree to completely cleanse Ming Ye’s original aura from Sacred Wood Phantom, Po Kong’s own energy had already begun to infuse it. Even in such a short time, rejection had begun to develop again.
Generally, a weapon would instinctively resist entering a space where its master was absent. Forcing it into a storage space could cause the energy within to explode, leading to irreversible damage to the space. It simply wasn’t worth the risk.
Furthermore, Sacred Wood Phantom was currently filled with Po Kong’s destructive War God Battle Qi. If that power were unleashed unchecked, it would be as powerful as a massive bomb. The consequences would be disastrous.
“Oh? Is that so? Po Kong, let me try,” Starlight asked with a hint of curiosity and challenge.
As for the energy explosion Po Kong mentioned, Starlight wasn’t too worried. His storage space was terrifyingly large. He could just toss it into a corner far away from his supplies. Even if Po Kong himself attacked, his power could hardly cover and destroy an area the size of a castle.
With that, Starlight reached for the handle. Po Kong and Xia Duo tried to stop him, but they were a step too late.
A soft blue light wrapped around the blade of Sacred Wood Phantom, and then it vanished from sight in an instant.
“Little Star! Are you okay!? That was way too risky!” Po Kong turned around, looking at Starlight with anxious concern.
Starlight only frowned slightly, appearing to be deep in thought.
Under the circumstances, the other three didn’t dare move. They watched Starlight silently, prepared to help at a moment’s notice.
“Hmm...? What’s going on?”
Starlight was currently examining his storage space in confusion. To be safe, he had sent Sacred Wood Phantom to a distant corner. However, the explosion he expected never happened. The golden scythe floated quietly in the space, showing no signs of abnormality or instability.
After observing it for a while, Starlight willed it back out. The storage space spat Sacred Wood Phantom out, and it landed steadily in his palm.
Only then did he feel a subtle, strange sensation from his palm.
The power within Sacred Wood Phantom seemed to sense that Starlight was not its true master. It began to emit a faint but clear hum, as if expressing dissatisfaction or a warning.
“What’s the situation? Starlight, are you okay!?” Xia Duo’s eyes widened, and she gasped in a low voice when she saw the scythe reappear.
She knew how dangerous it was, but she had never seen someone so bold as to use their own storage space for an experiment without a second thought.
Yet Starlight stood there unharmed, showing no signs of injury. It was as if Sacred Wood Phantom had never actually entered his storage space, which was truly baffling.
Starlight examined the vibrating weapon once more before handing it back to Po Kong.
To be honest, he didn’t quite understand what was happening either. After Eventador had opened this massive space for him, he had even checked its characteristics and stability, concluding that everything was perfectly normal.
But when he held the scythe, he had indeed felt the rejection Po Kong mentioned. So why was there no problem when it was inside his own space?
