Chapter 314 · Volume 1

Secrets of the Elven Race

Angela’s gaze shifted slowly between Starlight and Po Kong, as if piercing through the dust of time to see a more ancient past. Her voice carried a faint, almost imperceptible sense of nostalgia as she spoke.
Starlight and Po Kong were drawn in by her words. They could clearly read a complex emotion in her eyes, one that felt like a deep longing for days gone by.
“Senior Angela, do you seem to know something about us?”
Starlight gathered his courage and was the first to break the silence. He was eager to obtain more information from the High Priestess and unravel the doubts in his heart.
Angela gave him a faint smile, one that seemed as profound as a thousand unspoken words.
“Yes, child. Thousands of years ago, among my dearest friends, there was once a unique combination just like yours, wasn’t there? Po Kong, you must have read about it in your family’s history.”
Hearing this, Po Kong’s body jerked as if struck by an electric current. An excited light instantly erupted in his emerald eyes, and his voice was filled with unrestrained agitation and reverence.
“Exactly! In the ancient records of my family, the legendary journeys of our ancestors are mentioned countless times. Every time I read them, it feels as if I am experiencing it myself. That sense of grandeur and thrill is far more heart-pounding than any novel. You and my ancestors are the idols I admire most in my heart. It was your stories that led me onto the path of an adventurer!”
“Haha, an ‘idol’... It really has been many years since anyone has used that word with me. I didn’t think an old soul like me, who has lived for thousands of years, could still receive such favor from a young person. It’s quite nice.”
At Po Kong’s display of adoration, Angela let out a silver-bell-like chuckle. However, she quickly turned her gaze back to the bewildered Starlight.
“If I am not mistaken, you were the one who entered the consciousness of the World Tree earlier, weren’t you? To be able to do that at your age and level of cultivation... one can only say that the younger generation is truly formidable.”
Starlight’s face was etched with disbelief. He suddenly snapped back to his senses as if he had understood something in an instant.
“Wait? Senior, you mean... what I saw that day wasn’t a dream? I actually entered the interior of the World Tree? Is... is that very serious?!”
His voice was full of surprise. He hadn't even told his companions about this, only mentioning it once to Noah.
“Noah, what’s going on?”
Thinking of this, he subconsciously called out Noah’s name in his mind. But at this moment, Noah seemed to be in a deep sleep, making no sound at all, resting quietly at his waist like a lifeless object.
“It is and it isn’t. But it looks like you only connected to the World Tree’s consciousness unintentionally. However, being able to do even that is enough to prove your potential.”
Angela nodded, confirming Starlight’s suspicion. At the same time, it made Starlight even more certain that the High Priestess before him was definitely not the person he had seen in his dream.
“Now that I have met you all, I should tell you why I asked you to make this special trip.”
After answering Starlight’s question, Angela’s tone suddenly became solemn and deep. she delivered a piece of news that left all four of them stunned.
“The World Tree has told me that in the near future, the elven race will suffer a great calamity. And the four of you are a vital link to ending this catastrophe.”
Xia Duo’s brow twitched slightly, her eyes reflecting doubt and confusion. She asked in a startled tone.
“Us? How is that possible? Aunt Angela, you must be joking, right? Our current strength might be considered outstanding among our peers, but to say we could influence or even end a catastrophe... that sounds a bit too exaggerated. The World Tree... is it sure it didn't make a mistake?”
Starlight also nodded, agreeing with Xia Duo’s perspective.
He thought to himself that although the four of them had achieved impressive results in their respective fields, they were still far too immature and powerless when facing those who truly stood at the peak of the continent.
Like the dragon tongue magic of the Dragon King Seranox, the devouring power of the Sea Demon King Hitral, or the Heavenly Demon Phoenix that even Carlos could not fully resist... Facing such opponents, he couldn't even imagine how he would confront such overwhelming might.
But while they were raising their doubts, Moen, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up.
“Aunt Angela, are you certain this is a revelation from the World Tree? Rather than just some vague prophecy?”
Hearing this, Angela nodded gently.
“Yes, I am certain. This revelation was conveyed to me through the World Tree’s meridians the moment you secretly headed toward Night Lotus Valley. It woke me from my slumber. But when I tried to contact you, I found you had already left the range of the World Tree.”
Upon hearing Angela’s words, the faces of the four turned slightly awkward.
It seemed their self-righteous secret operation had not escaped her eyes at all; instead, they had wasted precious time.
Moen, in particular, suddenly looked exceptionally grave, her azure eyes shimmering with complex emotions.
“Wait, Little Crescent! What did you mean just now? Is there a difference between a revelation from the World Tree and a prophecy?” Po Kong asked in confusion.
“Of course there is a difference... Aunt Angela, may I explain it to them?”
Moen gave him a deep look, then turned an inquiring gaze toward Angela, seemingly seeking permission or confirmation.
After receiving a gentle nod from Angela, Moen parted her lips and began to explain slowly.
“What I am about to tell you is the highest secret of the Tree King Palace—information that even my sister doesn’t know...”
Over tens of thousands of years, the elven race and their Mother Tree, the World Tree, have formed an inseparable symbiotic relationship.
This magnificent giant tree is not only the spiritual home of the elves but also the source of their survival and prosperity. From the moment it took root, it has been silently reshaping every corner of the Star-Song Forest.
With its infinite power, the World Tree has endowed the elves with unprecedented abilities. For example, the miraculous data transmission function acts like a natural magic network, allowing elves to transmit information instantly across vast distances.
Or their profound control over the land beneath their feet, which originates from the mystery of the World Tree’s roots reaching deep into the earth. This ensures that every inch of soil responds to the will of the elves, becoming the foundation of their existence.
While the vast majority of elves revere the World Tree as their most supreme symbol, only a tiny fraction of people know that the World Tree they rely on is not simply a giant tree.
At the close of the Age of Gods, Freya, the Goddess of Nature whom the ancient elves worshipped, made a far-reaching decision before she faded away.
She embedded half of her own Godhead into the core of the World Tree.
This act not only endowed the World Tree with immortal spirituality and near-permanent vitality but also turned it into a bridge for the elves to connect with nature and gain wisdom.
Inspired by the power of this Godhead, the World Tree gradually developed its own consciousness. Throughout the long river of endless time, it has acted like a silent sage, quietly listening to the whispers and echoes between the elves and the earth.
This information flows like trickling streams, gathering into a sea. It is captured by the World Tree’s massive root system and branches and stored within its deepest core.
