Chapter 221 · Volume 1

Preparation to Shield Fate

Carlos had made several preparations for this. First and foremost, he never took Starlight out of the valley; the boy hadn't even stepped outside until he was sixteen.
In terms of magical instruction, Carlos only taught him some of the most basic spells through a gentle channeling method. This was done to prevent his constitution from running wild or falling into any other negative states.
Furthermore, in Carlos's vision, Starlight should skip all learning below the Saint Rank and study the most ultimate spells directly from various Grand Archmages. Only in this way could he make the fastest progress under the first prerequisite.
Then came the most critical part of the plan. Carlos had found a method to seal fate in an ancient text—an old technique that predated even the Age of Gods.
Its function was to completely shield the fluctuations of a person's fate. The requirement for this technique was to have a Saint Rank soul provide round-the-clock suppression.
In human history, Saint Rank experts were incredibly rare; for anyone else, this would have been impossible. However, Noah, the soul clone created by Carlos, fit this requirement perfectly.
Originally, he had planned to suppress Starlight's fate himself. However, the appearance of the Heavenly Demon disrupted his plans. Out of necessity, he had to use this backup plan as a substitute.
What Starlight needed to do was exert every effort to raise all his elemental affinities to the Saint Rank while Noah's soul was still capable of suppressing him.
If he succeeded, he would leap forward to become the strongest Archmage in human history. At that point, he would truly possess the ability to defy fate.
As Noah’s voice faded, the entire room was enveloped in an invisible silence. Even Eventador, a renowned Saint Rank expert, could not help but sink into deep thought.
“How about it, Evan? With Carlos's and your connections, it shouldn't be too much trouble to find these Grand Archmages to help Little Star, right? I'm sure you don't want Arthur's son to die young like this.”
Faced with Noah’s request, Eventador gently rubbed his temples. A slightly helpless, bitter smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he replied:
“It's not a matter of whether I'll help or not—you haven't exactly given me any room to negotiate, have you? However, I can't give you a total guarantee. I can only say I'll try my best! Besides, if you're looking for Grand Archmages of the standard elemental attributes, it's useless to come to me first!”
Noah’s tone revealed a hint of disbelief. “You're not going to tell me that after all these years, your wind element still hasn't reached the Saint Rank?!”
“I'm ashamed to admit it... but that is indeed the case. Therefore, I probably won't be much help to Starlight regarding the wind element. Though, I could provide some guidance to that little elf girl.”
As Eventador spoke, he turned his gaze toward Moen. With his perception, he could naturally see that Moen also possessed a decent affinity for the wind element; she was simply unpracticed at the moment.
“So... Principal Eventador, which element do you actually specialize in? If I had to guess... is it space?”
At this moment, Starlight voiced his own question. After hearing Noah’s explanation, his anxious heart had finally calmed down somewhat. At the very least, that sense of despair had vanished.
“Mm, you guessed right. What I excel at isn't the traditional elemental magic, but the relatively obscure spatial element. As far as I know, this isn't within the affinity range of a Radiant Elemental Body, so I can't help you in that regard... I'm sorry, Little Star.”
As Eventador spoke, he waved a hand toward Starlight, and the teacup hanging at the boy's waist instantly returned to the office desk.
“Um... then could you teach me how to use storage space?” Starlight hurriedly asked after seeing this display of telekinetic retrieval once again.
Eventador paused just as he was about to turn away, a look of surprise surfacing on his face once more. “Of course... Wait, what?? You don't know how to use storage space yet? Did Carlos really not teach you anything?! That’s unbelievable! This is the most basic knowledge!”
Despite his surprise, Eventador decided to agree and teach Starlight this basic spatial magic technique.
He then waved gently to Po Kong and the other two, signaling for them to withdraw for the time being so he could focus on teaching Starlight how to use storage space.
“Wait! Lord Principal!”
Seeing that Eventador seemed to be dismissing them, Po Kong spoke up urgently.
“What is it? Little one from the House of Mars, do you have business with me as well?” Eventador asked with a smile, his tone showing no hint of displeasure.
“Uh... I just heard there's a craftsman from the Iron-Heart family here at the academy. I want to find him to repair my weapon. It would be great if you could tell me where he is.”
Po Kong was not timid at all as he answered with a grin.
“So you're looking for him. That's easy enough. Take this and go to the blacksmith shop in the Craftsman District. As the principal, my word should still carry some weight.”
With a casual wave of Eventador's hand, a token of unknown material miraculously appeared in Po Kong’s hand.
“Then thank you, Lord Principal... Little Star, you go ahead and learn. If anything happens, remember to notify us immediately!”
After putting away the token, Po Kong bowed to Eventador. He then whispered a reminder to Starlight before preparing to leave the room with Xia Duo and the others.
“Don't worry, I'm not some terrible monster. I'm just teaching him a basic spell; it won't take long.”
Eventador couldn't help but chuckle at Po Kong’s expression, waving his hands repeatedly as he saw the three of them out of his study.
With the departure of the three, the study, which had been somewhat lively, became quiet again. For a moment, a subtle atmosphere filled the air.
“Alright! They're gone. Noah, is there something else you wanted to say to me?”
Eventador was the one to speak to Noah. Unlike his initial seriousness, his face now wore a playful expression, as if he were expecting an interesting result.
“I'm just a book now... and you can still tell? Sigh... fine! How is Teacher? Is he in good health?”
Seeing that his old friend had seen right through his thoughts, Noah could only sigh helplessly.
“Of course he is! How could I not be?”
However, the response did not come from Eventador’s voice. Instead, it was an aged and sonorous voice that rang out abruptly in the room, making Starlight jump in startlement.
Starlight looked around, but there was no one else in the room besides the three of them. No matter how he searched, he couldn't find the source of the voice.
“Stop looking, I'm right here.”
In the blink of an eye, a white-haired old man in a grey robe was suddenly sitting in the chair behind the office desk.
