After hearing Moen’s detailed explanation, a look of disbelief crossed Starlight’s face, but he quickly adjusted his mindset and dashed toward the fierce battle where Po Kong-Mars was fighting.
“Mr. Starlight, wait! How can a mage like you intervene in a fight like that?” Moen called out anxiously, quickly draped a layer of emerald light over him for protection.
Indeed, Starlight knew he couldn't interfere in such a pure clash of power. Even Xia Duo, who considered herself a master archer, didn't dare to fire randomly, fearing she might accidentally hit Po Kong-Mars during his all-out struggle.
However, in this situation, Taros’s attention was completely consumed by the battle before Him, meaning there was still something Starlight could do.
Although his mana was nearly exhausted, his mental power had mysteriously and significantly recovered during his period of unconsciousness.
Starlight also noticed something strange about Taros: despite His proficiency in dark magic, He had completely abandoned it since gaining a physical form.
This was completely illogical. In this underground space thick with dark elements, Taros, as the Ancient God of Darkness, could have easily overwhelmed the four of them with a deluge of magic, yet He hadn't.
The answer was obvious—it wasn't that He didn't want to, but that He simply couldn't!
The sword through His chest earlier hadn't failed to damage Taros; rather, He was using His own mana to forcibly suppress the injury. This was precisely why He hadn't pulled out the broken blade from His chest.
Furthermore, the Sacred Wood Arrow in His shoulder and the residual golden battle qi on His body were constantly eroding His mana.
Under the influence of these various factors, He was unable to fully release the mana within His body.
Starlight’s assessment was correct; the Ancient God of Darkness, who excelled in magical attacks, was currently in a very uncomfortable position.
Taros had expected to slaughter them with His powerful physical body, never imagining that Po Kong-Mars could actually match Him in a melee.
However, He didn't believe this golden power was infinite. With His keen eyes, He could tell that Po Kong-Mars’s aura was slowly declining. As long as He held out until the man's strength was spent, He would still emerge the victor.
Just as Taros was deciding to shift His focus from offense to defense, He was caught off guard by a sudden attack.
A spinning sphere of black energy suddenly appeared behind Him, exploding the moment it touched His scales and clinging to Him like a relentless curse.
The energy bypassed His impenetrable scales, and a surge of soul-deep pain immediately forced Taros to roar in agony.
This spell was all too familiar to Him; it was one of His proudest techniques, the Shadow Sphere.
But why could this insignificant human use it so effortlessly? Amidst His shock and fury, a deep sense of confusion arose within Taros.
This wasn't something that could be done through simple imitation; the Shadow Sphere that hit Him possessed enough power to actually cause Him harm.
Even counting the time He had cast it as a soul, this human should have only seen it a handful of times. How could he have mastered it so well in such a short period?
Despite His confusion, Taros did not stop. Instead, He intensified His offensive.
Seeing that Taros hadn't shifted targets even after taking a Shadow Sphere, Starlight glanced at Po Kong-Mars, who was locked in combat.
Xia Duo was right. The golden flames on Po Kong-Mars's body were starting to flicker, and even an amateur like Starlight could see that he was beginning to falter.
Thus, Starlight moved his hands, once again condensing several Shadow Spheres and hurling them at Taros’s wide-open back.
But this time, Taros had anticipated the move. The moment the Shadow Spheres were about to make contact, the sharp bone spikes on His spine swelled like the quills of a startled porcupine to block the attack.
Deflected by the protruding bone spikes, the incoming Shadow Spheres were swatted away like kicked balls, scattering across the hall.
Although these spells didn't harm Taros in the slightest, Starlight didn't stop. He began to compress massive amounts of dark elements under his control, rapidly forming wave after wave of attacks.
“Brat, you think you can defeat me with a move stolen from me? Don’t make me laugh! I am the Ancient God of Darkness! I will not be defeated by such petty tricks!”
Taros roared as He batted away the incoming Shadow Spheres.
He was clearly provoked by Starlight’s seemingly meaningless yet highly insulting attacks.
But Starlight didn't care. He continued to pour out a saturation bombardment. He knew he had to force Taros to reveal a weakness; the angrier He became, the more opportunities would arise.
With the two of them working together to pin Taros down, Xia Duo didn't miss the opportunity. As an archer, she timed her shots perfectly to support them.
Red arrows flew from her string at tricky angles, precisely striking the areas scorched by the golden flames and wedging themselves into the gaps between His scales.
Given the strength of Taros’s body, these attacks weren't enough to pierce His thick skin, but they were as annoying as buzzing insects. The occasional stabs of pain from the wounds served to distract Him.
Nor could He completely ignore the arrows coming from a distance. After all, Xia Duo’s previous two Sacred Wood Arrows had caused Him significant damage, forcing Taros to remain wary of her at all times.
“In that case, the brat using the Shadow Spheres is actually the easiest to deal with. Although there’s an inexhaustible supply of dark elements here, his magic is the easiest to counter. I still need to crush this warrior in front of me first. That golden battle qi is truly bizarre!”
Taros thought as He fended off attacks from all directions, having made up His mind.
He diverted a portion of the mana He was using to suppress His injuries and gathered it on His back. The pale bone spikes were instantly dyed pitch-black by dark elements.
With this layer of magical protection sharing the same frequency as the Shadow Spheres, Starlight’s attacks from behind immediately became harmless.
At that very moment, the golden flames on Po Kong-Mars’s body suddenly dimmed, and even his momentum faltered.
