Chapter 91 · Volume 1

Shock and Arrangements

“Ooh ooh ooh!” After taking out the bald man from the Church of the Earth Mother with a single slash, Ah Dong danced around in excitement.
In the sky, the human-headed moth woman who had been watching them looked on in shock. “An Earth Priest was killed by a chimpanzee just like that???”
Her multiple eyes widened, completely unable to believe what she was seeing.
If this bald man were unleashed on the outside world, he could easily wipe out an entire Inspector Bureau, yet he hadn't stood a ghost of a chance against a chimpanzee.
But in the next moment, the moth woman's attention was quickly drawn to the crystal that had fallen from the beggar's body.
In her eyes, the crystal was shrouded in a dense black mist. That's the Lord of Evil's item!
The chimpanzee didn't seem to care about the item at all, still dancing excitedly near the bald man's corpse.
From time to time, it would swing its long blade, hacking at the corpse and mutilating it.
Her body rapidly descended, stopping several dozen meters in the air.
Activating her telekinesis, she made the crystal quietly float up and rise toward the sky.
I didn't expect it to be this easy to seize an item. I'll definitely be rewarded by the great Earth Mother when I return! An excited expression appeared on her human face.
Just as the crystal came within three meters of her, Ah Dong suddenly stopped dancing below and whipped its head around, locking its gaze right onto the invisible moth woman.
“Ah!” Ah Dong roared, leaping straight up from where it stood.
Swish!
The chimpanzee actually bounded seven or eight meters into the air, forcing the moth woman, who had been focused on the crystal, to quickly look at it. It actually noticed me?
However, once she realized the creature could only jump seven or eight meters,
she simply deactivated her invisibility and sneered, “A mere long-haired, brainless beast dares to raise a hand against me? Laughable!”
As the crystal drew near, she reached out with a long grey leg and snatched it.
Ah Dong seemed to understand her mockery. A look of rage crossed its face as it rushed toward a nearby three-story building.
Guessing what the ape was trying to do, the moth woman immediately flew up another few dozen meters, reaching a height of a hundred meters.
But Ah Dong didn't jump this time. Instead, it gripped the long blade with both hands, raising it high behind its back. Glaring at the moth woman, it roared, “Ooh ooh, ah ah ah ah!!!”
“Beast, what are you trying to do? Forget it, it's not like you can understand anyway. Just wait for your death.” The moth woman sneered as she watched the chimpanzee's movements.
As she mocked it, Ah Dong violently swung the long blade in its hands down toward her position.
Buzz!
With this single slash, the colors of the space in the entire area dimmed.
A three-meter-long, translucent blade energy shot out from the long blade in the chimpanzee's hands.
The blade energy broke the sound barrier, instantly arriving before the moth woman while the sneer was still plastered on her face.
Tear!
The moment her outer telekinetic barrier was torn to shreds, a look of sheer terror finally surfaced on her face, but the blade energy sliced her clean in half right down the middle.
Splat!
Blackish-grey liquid rained down from the sky as the bisected moth woman and the crystal plummeted toward the ground.
Several hundred meters up in the sky, a small drone camera captured this entire scene.
Inside the underground fallout shelter.
Zhang Yi stared at the screen before him, his face dark. How on earth did these idiots become Earth Priests?
He even wondered if the Earth Mother was testing him by raising the difficulty and sending a bunch of fools like this.
“Have all the nearby Earth Priests strike at the same time immediately. Stop sending them in one by one to feed, alright?” Zhang Yi turned to look at a burly man standing beside him.
The man stared at the screen, clearly speechless at his teammates' performance as well.
“Rest assured, Archbishop Zhang. We still have eleven Earth Priests nearby. Although we don't understand why this chimpanzee is so strong, if eleven Earth Priests strike at once, there is absolutely no way it will survive,” the burly man said respectfully.
Just then, an agent walked in from behind, looking nervous. “Archbishop Zhang, Bai Yuwen has arrived.”
“Bring him in,” Zhang Yi said, waving his hand dismissively.
“Yes, sir!” The agent nodded and quickly hurried out.
Before leaving, he glanced at the two-to-three-meter-tall, intensely oppressive monsters, and his hands and feet went cold. Is there really any hope left for Yangcheng?
He wanted to run away and escape this place, but with the government completely controlled by these monsters, where could he even go?
The world seemed to be changing, and ordinary people like them were rapidly being pushed out of positions of power.
Meanwhile, on the surface...
Bai Yuwen stood by the side entrance of a shopping mall, following the middle-aged woman.
He noticed the plainclothes agents appearing around them from time to time, their density far exceeding that of a normal street.
“I didn't expect you to set up Command here. Those monsters probably won't suspect a thing,” Bai Yuwen remarked in awe.
The middle-aged woman in front of him merely smiled without saying a word. After they waited for a few minutes,
a young man wearing a black leather jacket walked out and waved at Bai Yuwen. “Follow me.”
Bai Yuwen stepped forward as the youth in the leather jacket turned to lead the way inside.
After walking about a dozen meters inside, a large iron door appeared, revealing a flight of stairs leading downward.
Bai Yuwen followed him all the way down, making several turns along the way.
After descending a full fifty meters, a massive, five-meter-wide circular metal door came into view, with soldiers standing guard on both sides.
