Chapter 80 · Volume 1

Gathering

Seeing this, Bai Yuwen breathed a sigh of relief. In a real supernatural battle, the help the authorities can provide is simply too limited. They're only suited for support. If I want to get the seven items, I must cooperate with other supernatural beings.
“Hey, what are you two little mice squeaking about?” a loud shout suddenly rang out.
Buck looked at the two of them with a sinister grin. A crow was circling above his head.
Looking at Buck, Bai Yuwen's eyes narrowed.
Some nearby passersby stopped, looking at the group with curiosity.
“Hey! Who are you people? Come with us to the security office!” a shout rang out as seven or eight security guards quickly walked toward them.
Before they even got close, the guards' expressions soured. The stench coming from Xiao Qi and the other man was overwhelming.
Buck didn't even look at the guards. He stomped his foot onto the ground.
Bang!
The tiles shattered, and a large number of fragments of various sizes were kicked up to Buck's left.
He extended his left hand and rapidly slapped the fragments.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Seven fragments were sent flying toward the security guards. Moving at extreme speed, they instantly shattered the heads of seven guards.
Thud!
As the seven collapsed, the onlookers who had been watching the scene unfold went pale with terror.
They turned and fled, some covering their mouths, terrified that making a sound would draw Buck's attention.
“Alright, now no one is here to interrupt us,” Buck sneered, leaning his body forward.
“Run!” Xiao Qi yelled. Seeing the man's brain-shattering pebble trick, he spun on his heel and bolted.
Beside him, shadows materialized around Bai Yuwen, and the four shadows carried him away as he fled.
Bang!
The ground beneath Buck's feet exploded. Using the powerful recoil, he launched himself a meter off the ground, flying toward the two fleeing men.
His face twisted with excitement as he roared, “I, Buck, will be taking your supernatural items!”
Just as he flew past an entrance to a passageway, a blinding light shone out from inside.
Where is that light coming from? Buck instinctively turned his head, only to see a sedan speeding toward him, pushing two security guards on its hood.
In the driver's seat, a young man with "69" tattooed on his face was staring back at him with a sinister grin.
Vroom! The roar of the engine echoed through the subway station.
Damn, it's too late! Buck's face contorted as he watched the car rapidly close the distance.
Crash!
The sedan, speeding at a hundred and fifty kilometers per hour, slammed violently into Buck. The hood crumpled inward, and with Buck suspended in midair, he had absolutely no leverage.
Screech!
The sound of tires screeching against the floor rang out, but the car was moving too fast to stop immediately.
Buck, along with the two security guards, was pinned against the hood and slammed violently into the subway platform screen doors.
Crash!
The glass doors shattered, and Buck and the guards fell onto the tracks below.
The front of the sedan wedged into the doorway, finally coming to a halt.
Down on the tracks, Buck shook his head, struggling to stand up.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
An urgent alarm rang out as a beam of light washed over him. Buck turned his head, only to see a subway train rapidly approaching.
Crash!
He had barely stood up when the front of the train slammed into him, dragging him forward at high speed.
It had all happened too fast—less than two seconds had passed from the car's sudden appearance to Buck being struck by the train.
Xiao Qi, who was still running, stared at the black sedan in utter shock. “Who the hell drives a car into a subway station?!”
Click! The car door opened, and Liu Qi stepped out. He looked at the two of them with a cruel grin. “Now that the annoying pests are out of the way... you two, will you hand over the items and die quickly, or should I torture you first before taking them?”
Thud! Thud! Thud!
From the entrance ahead—their intended escape route—the sound of dense footsteps echoed. Dozens of Night Slaves armed with cold weapons blocked their path.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Just then, the subway train doors slid open.
A dignified middle-aged man wearing a black suit and sporting a goatee stepped out.
He looked at Xiao Qi and Bai Yuwen, his expression calm. “Do not offer useless resistance. Our strength is beyond your imagination.”
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Behind him, the train cars were packed with Night Slaves.
With crimson eyes and expressionless faces, they poured out of the open doors carrying blades and axes.
The subway station instantly became crowded as a massive horde of Night Slaves surrounded Xiao Qi and Bai Yuwen.
Staring at the massive crowd, Xiao Qi's face turned pale. He glared at Bai Yuwen and cursed, “You've really gotten me killed this time! If you're going to die, couldn't you have done it somewhere far away from me?!”
Beneath his mask, Bai Yuwen's eyes filled with despair. “Stop complaining. At least we'll go down together.”
Liu Jiyun raised his left hand, preparing to wave it down.
Boom!
A deafening blast echoed, causing the entire subway station to tremble slightly.
Crash!
The ceiling above them exploded, carving out a massive hole several meters wide. Dust and debris rained down everywhere.
Everyone below, including the Night Slaves, instinctively looked up at the ceiling.
“Roar!” A second later, a deep howl resounded.
A monster, two and a half meters tall with a bloated, grayish-white body, dropped through the massive hole.
Bang!
The moment it landed, its fist exploded the upper body of a Night Slave standing right in front of it.
At this, the surrounding Night Slaves swung their machetes, slashing at its back.
Clang!
The blades struck, but sparks flew instead of blood, accompanied by a metallic clanging sound.
“What on earth is that?!” Xiao Qi's face darkened as he watched even more enemies appear.
The commotion at the hole in the ceiling was far from over.
Patter!
A dense cluster of legs appeared as a monster with a human head on a spider's body squeezed through the opening.
As soon as it landed, the surrounding Night Slaves lunged to attack, but the spider raised its six legs, easily blocking their incoming weapons.
From the ceiling, bizarrely shaped monsters began emerging one after another.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Splat!
These monsters began clashing with the Night Slaves. The slaves' blades and swords couldn't pierce the monsters' defenses at all.
Yet with a single casual strike, the monsters could heavily injure or even kill a Night Slave.
Liu Jiyun frowned as he observed the dozen or so monsters that had appeared. Where did these monsters come from? Is this the work of Destiny?
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Following the appearance of these monsters, heavy footsteps echoed from the passageway Liu Qi had driven through.
Crash!
Several Night Slaves blocking the entrance were sent flying. A monster, three meters tall with the lower body of a black-scaled bull and an upper body consisting of conjoined, black-scaled male and female torsos, emerged.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Behind the monster, steady footsteps echoed.
Zhang Yi, dressed in a white tracksuit, stepped into the doorway. His face was cold as ice. “Liu Jiyun, I didn't expect to run into you here. Today, I will repay what happened in Ningcheng a hundredfold!”
