Chapter 141 · Volume 1

The End

“The Ghouls are over there!” In the darkness, a young man with glowing eyes spotted the two iron cages discarded on the ground and quickly called out.
Hum!
A ball of fire materialized, illuminating the surrounding forest.
“Roar!” Inside the iron cages, the two failed test subjects instinctively shrank back and growled upon seeing the flames.
Among the crowd, a man looked at the abandoned iron cages and sneered, “Looks like those guys aren't so patriotic after all. I thought they would fight us to the death for the Ghouls.”
“Cut the crap. Since they're afraid of death and left the Ghouls behind, it saves us some effort. You guys, carry them away.” Cao Liang looked at several supernatural beings in the crowd.
They immediately stepped forward and hoisted the iron cages.
Cao Liang turned and sprinted back in the direction he came from. “You guys head back. I'll go call Liu Qi.”
The supernatural beings nodded and immediately left the forest, carrying the two iron cages.
Boom!
On the high-speed train tracks, Xu Mo unleashed a punch that broke the sound barrier, piercing through the afterimage in front of him.
Whoosh!
An afterimage materialized at his side as Liu Qi rained punches onto Xu Mo's head.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Each punch rang out with a deafening thud. One side of Xu Mo's head was beaten slightly out of shape.
Yet Liu Qi's expression was far from relaxed. The deformed area quickly regenerated, becoming even harder than before.
What on earth is this kid? He just keeps getting stronger the more he fights. Liu Qi stared at the demon-like Xu Mo.
“Damn it!” Xu Mo let out a furious roar. Only now did his fist swing toward Liu Qi on his left.
The other man was simply too fast. Since their clash began, Xu Mo had lost count of how many blows he had taken.
Whoosh!
Liu Qi's figure vanished. Standing ten meters away, he looked at Xu Mo. “Kid, how much is the Special Bureau paying you to risk your life like this? Come work for me, and I'll pay you ten times that.”
“Money? Don't insult me with that garbage! Today, I only want to beat you to death!” Xu Mo's eyes burned red, and his muscles swelled slightly more than before.
“Liu Qi, it's time to go!” Just as the two were about to clash again, a loud shout echoed from the distance. It was Cao Liang's voice.
Hearing the voice, a strange smile appeared on Liu Qi's face as he looked at Xu Mo. “Looks like we've got the Ghouls. Since I'm on a mission today, I couldn't fully enjoy myself. If there's a chance in the future, I hope we can have a real fight where we both go all out!”
With that, his figure vanished from the spot.
Xu Mo stared grimly in the direction Liu Qi had gone, then rushed toward where Wen Yu and the others were.
The Capital.
Inside the penthouse of the highest skyscraper, He Wenxi stared out the window with a calm expression.
Behind her, six men and women knelt on the floor, their hands bound and their mouths stuffed with rags.
“I hate betrayal the most,” He Wenxi said softly, gazing at the night view of the city.
“Those who could know the schedule of the Ghoul escort are all high-ranking officials in the official departments—people I once trusted.”
“With your status, couldn't you have just enjoyed your lives in comfort? Why did you have to collude with the Liu family?”
There was not a single ripple of emotion in her tone. She did not care whether these people had been mind-controlled, enticed by wealth, or threatened into becoming moles for the Liu family.
In the same room, Zhu Weiliang and Lu Senyu stood watching the six bound individuals.
The lowest-ranking among them was a deputy minister—prominent figures who wielded immense power over ordinary people in the outside world.
“Let's begin.” He Wenxi turned around, looking at Zhu Weiliang with a faint smile.
Zhu Weiliang nodded hastily and ordered, “Remove the rags and throw them off!”
