Clack!
Bai Ping's rifle dropped to the ground. He picked up the walkie-talkie and said with a pale face, “Everyone, the President has ordered us to return immediately within thirty minutes. Anyone who takes longer than thirty minutes will have a month's salary deducted!”
“Understood!”
“On our way back!”
Voices chimed in one after another over the walkie-talkie. Although they found it strange that they were being called back so soon after leaving, they complied.
But Su Wen was a man of his word, and no one wanted to lose out on money.
The armed personnel hidden all over Haicheng began rushing toward the East District. Along the way, they slammed their gas pedals to the floor, running red lights without a care.
Inside the villa, Li Xueming instructed the Special Bureau agents behind him to clean up the corpses at the scene.
He Wenxi sat on the sofa, her eyes fixed on Bai Ping opposite her. “I'm curious. With your level of strength, how did you dare to attempt to assassinate me?”
The battle report of the operation against Su Wen had already been sent back. Two of the Senluo Association's three supernatural beings had died the moment they clashed, and Su Wen was now being chased across the city by Xu Mo.
These people were simply too weak. She couldn't fathom where they got the courage to target her.
Bai Ping leaned back on the sofa, a bitter smile appearing on his face. “Some time ago, Su Wen took a two-billion-dollar order from abroad. The client specifically wanted Su Wen to kill you.
“But Su Wen hired a group of assassins instead. Honestly, when they failed, I told him to run. But that arrogant idiot actually thought he could stand against the government.”
As he spoke, he clenched his fists tightly. He absolutely loathed that idiot Su Wen. His arrogance, conceit, and complete lack of self-awareness were dragging so many people down to the grave with him.
Standing behind He Wenxi, Li Xueming looked puzzled upon hearing this. “Two billion is no small sum. Was it the Coalition or the Scott Syndicate?”
To easily shell out that much money, their liquid capital had to be even more massive. Among the foreign forces wanting to deal with them, only those two targets fit the bill.
He Wenxi didn't speak. She turned to look at the moon outside the window, her eyes devoid of any emotion.
Sometimes, those who wanted her dead weren't just foreign forces.
Domestically, the Xichang Liu family and the Church of the Earth Mother were just as suspicious.
Vroom!
Outside the villa, the roar of car engines echoed, and armed personnel carrying firearms strode into the building.
When they saw several men in suits standing in the lobby, looks of confusion appeared on their faces.
They didn't recognize this group.
Within half an hour, all the personnel scattered outside had returned, and voices gradually filled the villa's courtyard.
“On my way back, I think I saw President Su being chased. Has the Special Bureau made its move?” a burly man asked nervously.
Someone in the crowd chimed in, “I saw it too! What should we do?!”
Next to him, a burly man with a cigar in his mouth looked at Bai Ping, who was sitting opposite a woman, and called out, “Manager Bai, the boys are all back. What are the President's arrangements? By the way, who are these people? From their vibe, they don't look like roughnecks like us.”
As he spoke, he shot a glance at several burly men nearby, who immediately gripped their rifles tightly.
Seeing their president being hunted down, combined with the suspicious nature of these suited men, the others knew they couldn't afford not to be cautious.
He Wenxi stood up. Without even glancing at the crowd outside, she said calmly, “Liu Wangao, begin.”
“Understood,” an expressionless young man behind her replied.
Liu Wangao turned to look at the gathered armed personnel outside. He extended his hands, and over two hundred invisible threads materialized.
Before the armed men could even notice, the threads hovered over their heads. Every single one of them felt a slight, stinging pain on their scalp.
Immediately after, their nervous systems were hijacked.
“Ah! My hands! Why won't my hands listen to me?!” a bald, burly man shrieked in terror as he watched his own hands raise his rifle and aim it at himself.
Beside him, a thin man watched his hands turn his shotgun toward his own head, screaming in despair, “Damn it! Is this your doing?! Why can't I feel my body anymore?!”
“Devils! You're devils!!!” The man with the cigar watched his own hand press a pistol against his chin. He wanted to run, but his legs refused to move.
Inside the villa, another young man from the Special Bureau grinned as he pulled out his phone and began recording.
For these violent terrorists, no one felt any pity.
From inside the villa, Bai Ping watched over two hundred men simultaneously hold guns to their own chins.
Overwhelming terror gripped his heart, his eyes widening. Is a group of people like this really the government? What government acts like this?
“Fuck you, Bai Ping! You'll die a horrible death!”
Amidst the panicked screams and furious curses, Liu Wangao lightly pulled his fingers downward.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Over two hundred dense gunshots rang out simultaneously. Most of these men were holding rifles, and at such close range, their heads were blown apart, splattering everywhere.
Thud! Thud!
In the moonlit courtyard, corpses piled on top of one another, and the heavy stench of blood filled the air.
Cold sweat drenched Bai Ping's forehead. He swallowed hard and looked cautiously at the woman, whose expression hadn't changed from beginning to end. “You've killed all of them. Can you let my family go now? Even if you kill me, I'll accept it.”
He Wenxi didn't even look at him as she walked outside.
Liu Wangao pulled out a phone from his coat. On the screen was a single photo, showing an entire family riddled with bullets like a honeycomb.
He looked at Bai Ping with disgust. “With the way you people behave, did you really think your family would be allowed to live? If we hadn't stepped in, who knows how many innocent people in Haicheng would have died at your hands!”
But Bai Ping was past listening. He instantly grabbed the pistol from the table, his face twisting into a hideous snarl as he roared, “You damned demon!!!”
Yet in the very next second, he felt all sensation leave his body. The hand holding the pistol slowly rose, shoving the barrel into his mouth.
Beside him, Liu Wangao extended his right hand, his index finger twitching slightly.
Bang!
The gunshot echoed, and a mixture of red and white splattered across the ceiling. Bai Ping's body slumped to the floor.
Outside the villa's gates, a sedan was parked.
Xu Mo walked over, holding Su Wen's severed head in his left hand. He looked at He Wenxi and Li Xueming standing at the entrance, raising the head. “All three supernatural beings of the Senluo Association have been eliminated.”
A faint smile touched He Wenxi's lips. “You did well, Xu Mo.”
During this trip to Haicheng, she hadn't lifted a finger the entire time, wanting to test the strength of her subordinates.
Looking at them now, the Special Bureau she had built up was finally coming into its own.
With a bit more nurturing, they might actually be of help when we face the Liu family or even deal with the Church of the Earth Mother. He Wenxi's eyes were dead silent.
To sweep away the unstable factors, the biggest obstacles domestically were not the emerging Specters and Evil Spirits, but the Liu family and the Church of the Earth Mother.
She had reviewed the files on both forces; they were malignant tumors that absolutely had to be excised.
