Three days later, 7:00 PM.
The storm caused by Yangcheng continued to brew, and governments around the world began actively searching for traces of the supernatural.
Meanwhile, in a coastal city on Goro Island.
About a dozen kilometers outside the city sat a manor spanning over a thousand mu.
Soldiers stood guard at the entrance of the manor, and black-suited bodyguards patrolled the grounds inside. Its security detail was already comparable to that of Goro Island's presidential palace.
At the center of the estate stood a five-story blue-and-white villa.
Inside the first-floor lobby...
Bai Xiaohua sat on the sofa, feeling somewhat nervous. An hour ago, she and Bai Yuwen had been called here, and she had no idea what for.
Looking at the incredibly luxurious decor around her, she still felt a bit out of place.
In the first-floor kitchen, seven servants were busy at work.
“Bro, are we really rich now?” She turned her head toward the entrance.
By the entrance, the over-two-meter-tall Bai Yuwen, now dressed in a suit, stood waiting.
Hearing Bai Xiaohua's words, he replied without turning around, “Of course we are. Mr. Tang—actually, I should call him Boss now—is paying me five million a month. And that's just base pay. If there are missions, there are also special mission bonuses.”
He thoroughly enjoyed this kind of life. He had money, abilities, and followed a formidable leader. It was infinitely better than being controlled and ordered around by the government.
As he spoke, a luxurious black SUV drove up the manor's main driveway.
The car stopped at the entrance. Buck and Jiang Nan got out, and Jiang Nan pulled open the rear door. Tang Yongyun stepped down, dressed in a white suit.
Bai Yuwen stepped forward and greeted him respectfully, “Boss!”
Tang Yongyun nodded to him. “Yuwen, let's head inside first.”
With that, he walked straight inside, with Buck and the others following closely behind.
Upon entering the lobby, a middle-aged woman dressed in a suit walked out of the kitchen.
She addressed Tang Yongyun with deep respect, “Mr. Tang, the dishes are ready. Shall we serve them now?”
“Go ahead,” Tang Yongyun said.
He then turned his gaze to Bai Xiaohua, who was standing nervously behind Bai Yuwen. “Since we just returned, I've been busy handling and organizing the Syndicate's affairs, so I've neglected you two siblings.”
“It's fine, Mr. Tang. My brother and I don't mind. If it weren't for you, we might not even be alive today,” Bai Xiaohua quickly replied.
Just then, a hand patted her shoulder. Bai Xiaohua turned to see Jiang Nan smiling warmly. “Don't be nervous, Xiaohua. Since our Boss has accepted you, we're all family from now on.”
With that, she led Bai Xiaohua toward the round, white marble dining table.
Tang Yongyun and the others followed and sat down, and the servants began serving the dishes one by one.
Tang Yongyun looked at Bai Yuwen and said, “Yuwen, besides having you over for dinner, there are a few things I want to discuss with you.”
Hearing this, Bai Yuwen sat up straight with a solemn expression. “Boss, whatever mission you have, I am ready for your command at any time.”
Before Tang Yongyun could speak, Buck casually picked up a king crab and tossed it to him. “You kid, we're not outside right now. There's no need to be so stiff.”
Tang Yongyun continued, “While we were with the Syndicate, I already arranged for our armed forces to expand. Mr. Zhao is currently changing the world.
More and more supernatural beings will emerge, and the old power structures of the world will inevitably be shattered.”
At the dining table, the other four listened quietly to Tang Yongyun.
“Moving forward, we must recruit more supernatural existences to secure a leading position in the coming era of turbulence,” Tang Yongyun said, his expression turning serious.
Having witnessed the supernatural battles in Ningcheng and Yangcheng, he understood that if they didn't strive to grow stronger, they would only be trampled upon. Ordinary people had completely become background noise and mere casualty statistics.
Listening to Tang Yongyun, Bai Yuwen said solemnly, “Boss, don't worry. I will definitely recruit more supernatural—”
Before he could finish, Tang Yongyun waved his hand. “It's enough that you take my words to heart, but this work won't start immediately. Also, you don't need to be so formal in private.”
As they conversed, Bai Xiaohua noticed a small side table behind Tang Yongyun.
On it lay a photograph. In the photo, an elderly Asian man sat in the very front, while younger versions of Tang Yongyun, Buck, and Jiang Nan stood around him.
In addition to the three of them, there were six other men and women of Asian and Caucasian descent.
As if noticing Bai Xiaohua's gaze,
Tang Yongyun turned to look at the photo behind him, a look of nostalgia appearing in his eyes. “The people in this photo are my adoptive father and my sworn brothers and sisters. It's just a pity that most of them didn't live to see the arrival of this new era.”
Hearing his words, everyone fell silent and quietly ate their food.
