"“Done talking?”"
After Furni walked out of the meeting room, she found Ivelia standing right outside the door.
It looked like she had been there for a while.
Furni glanced at Ivelia, then back at the closed meeting room door behind her.
"“Yeah, done talking.”"
"“I'm very satisfied.”"
Thinking of Lin Ling's speech about wanting to change the world just now, a slight smile appeared on Furni's tired face.
"“Such a hot-blooded little kid is quite rare among summoned Heroes.”"
Saying that, Furni stretched.
"“I'm off. If I don't go back soon, that old kid Karl will start missing the great guardian dragon.”"
Having said that, Furni waved to Ivelia.
Then, she naturally walked over to the window.
And flipped herself out.
Ivelia: "“...”"
Watching this, Ivelia only felt a bit of a headache.
For some reason, everyone in the Demon King's Castle had stopped using doors lately.
Had the gates and corridors of the Demon King's Castle lost their original purpose?
Meanwhile, Furni, who had just flipped out, suddenly remembered something extremely important as her body cleared the window.
Her magic didn't seem to have fully recovered yet.
Furni: "“...”"
In the next second.
"“Aaaaaah—”"
A blue figure plummeted straight down from the heights of the Demon King's Castle.
Baroque, who happened to be passing by below, looked up after hearing the sound.
He saw an unidentified object falling straight toward him from above.
Baroque: "“What is that?”"
Almost purely out of instinct.
He raised his hand and punched the unidentified object.
Bang!
The unidentified object was sent flying by his punch, crashing heavily into the wall beside them.
Several massive cracks even spread across the wall's surface.
Baroque didn't bother to check what the object was, turning his head to roar upward.
"“Who is throwing things from the heights of the Demon King's Castle?!”"
As he roared, Phelan happened to descend slowly from above.
Floating beside him was a top-tier recording crystal.
As the recorder of the Demon King's Castle, he had dutifully recorded the entire process of Furni flipping out of the window, falling due to insufficient magic, and ultimately being punched into the wall by Baroque.
"“Ahem.”"
Phelan coughed lightly.
"“Baroque.”"
"“That object was Lady Furni.”"
Baroque: "“...”"
He looked down at his fist.
Then he looked at the blue-haired figure he had punched into the wall, who was now slowly sliding down.
The air grew quiet for a moment.
Baroque fell silent for a long time.
Then, his expression became somewhat complicated.
Logically speaking, he had just punched Lady Furni away.
As someone who had helped the Demon King's Castle, he should feel apologetic.
But...
For some reason.
It felt kind of satisfying.
Was this why his wife liked to punch him away?
Baroque fell into a brief moment of contemplation.
Phelan looked at the silent Baroque, then glanced at Furni, who was now a crumpled heap against the wall.
Then he looked down and wrote a few lines on his recording board.
"“Lady Furni plummeted from the heights of the Demon King's Castle due to unrecovered magic.”"
"“Baroque mistook her for an unidentified falling object and performed instinctive defense.”"
"“Result: Lady Furni suffered secondary trauma.”"
After writing this, Phelan looked in the direction of the residential district.
He suddenly remembered he had another matter to handle.
Leticia was still at Mrs. Nashi's house.
Although he had checked on her condition last night, he should still pick her up in the morning.
Thinking of this, Phelan decided to leave the crime scene first.
Thus, he naturally tucked away his recording board and quickly flew toward the residential district.
Leaving only Baroque and Furni by the wall.
Meanwhile, Furni slowly slid to the ground from the wall, raising a hand.
"“Hey...”"
"“Is no one going to help the great guardian dragon up...”"
Baroque glanced at her.
Then he looked at his fist again.
Finally, he muttered under his breath.
"“It really did feel quite nice.”"
Furni: "“...”"
Can a dragon even stay in this Demon King's Castle anymore?
Meanwhile, in the residential district—
Perhaps because she had slept too late last night, Leticia failed to wake up on time in the morning for the first time.
Back at the White Tower, wake-up times were strictly regulated.
When to wash up, when to pray, when to eat, and when to receive priests.
Every single task was arranged in advance by maids.
But perhaps because she had done a lot of labor yesterday, combined with encountering that strange light at night, these things combined made her sleep very deeply.
By the time Leticia opened her eyes, the light outside the window was already filtering in.
She froze for a moment.
Then she suddenly sat up.
"“Is it already this late?”"
She instinctively wanted to tidy her clothes, only to realize she was not in the White Tower.
There was only herself in the room.
Along with that room, which was swept clean but had clearly gone uninhabited for a long time.
Leticia looked toward the window.
That little light from last night was gone.
But Leticia felt that it might still be watching this place from somewhere.
After washing up and heading downstairs, she found that only Dashi was left in the house.
Mrs. Nashi and Data seemed to have already gone out.
Dashi sat in the corner.
He didn't run over to greet her as usual, nor did he show his innocent smile.
He just kept his head down, slowly carving a wood carving in his hand.
The wood carving wasn't very large.
It depicted the likeness of a girl.
Although the craftsmanship was still a bit amateur, Leticia could still tell.
The girl on this wood carving looked a bit like the girl who had appeared in the recording stone last night.
Only when Leticia drew near did Dashi seem to finally snap out of it and look up.
"“Good morning, Sister Leticia.”"
His voice was a bit lower than usual.
"“Mom put breakfast in the dining room. You can eat before you leave.”"
Leticia looked at him.
Then she gently sat down beside Dashi.
"“Dashi.”"
"“Hmm?”"
"“If it's alright, could I ask about the story behind this wood carving?”"
Leticia saw that Dashi looked rather unhappy.
She sensed that this girl was probably a very important part of this family.
And why that room last night had made Mrs. Nashi and Data make those expressions.
Dashi didn't answer.
He just stared at the wood carving in his hand, falling silent for a long time.
Leticia saw that his expression wasn't very good and realized she might have asked something she shouldn't have.
"“I'm sorry.”"
She said softly.
"“I asked about something sensitive.”"
Saying this, Leticia planned to stand up and leave, letting Dashi have some quiet time alone.
At least, it wouldn't be too late to return after she went back to the Demon King's Castle and asked Phelan about the light.
But just as she reached the door, Dashi suddenly spoke.
"“You mean Sister Danasuo, right?”"
Leticia stopped in her tracks.
"“The room you stayed in last night was hers.”"
Dashi kept his head down.
Leticia stood at the door and couldn't see his expression.
She could only see his hand gripping the wood carving tighten slightly.
"“Everyone liked her very much.”"
When he said this, his voice was very quiet.
As if afraid of disturbing something, or perhaps afraid that if he spoke too loudly, some things would shatter all over again.
Leticia fell silent for a moment.
"“Dashi.”"
"“You don't have to go on.”"
She felt the sadness radiating from Dashi.
Something that had been pressed deep in his heart for a long time, yet he had never been able to voice.
But Dashi didn't stop.
"“But she was a big liar.”"
He said.
"“I hate her.”"
When he uttered the word “hate,” his voice suddenly grew sharper.
At the same time, his grip on the wood carving tightened even more.
Yet Leticia saw that the little light was hovering right around Dashi.
It flew very slowly.
As if it wanted to get closer to Dashi.
Yet was afraid of drawing near.
The color of the light was slightly dimmer than last night.
Although Leticia couldn't see its expression.
She could feel it.
The light seemed very sad.
Leticia walked back to Dashi's side and gently squatted down.
"“It's okay, Dashi.”"
"“Let's pretend I never asked about this, alright?”"
Her voice was very gentle.
Dashi still kept his head down.
"“Sister Sia.”"
"“Yes?”"
"“Please go back first.”"
Dashi held the wood carving, his voice muffled.
"“Sorry for not hosting you well.”"
Having said that, he stood up and silently returned to his room in the corner.
The door shut gently.
Leticia stood at the door, not leaving immediately.
The light slowly flew up to the second floor.
It stopped by the window of the room she had stayed in last night, bowing slightly to Leticia.
As if expressing its apologies.
Leticia watched it.
The doubts in her heart multiplied.
Looking at the light, she decided to go back to the Demon King's Castle first to find Mr. Phelan.
As the recorder of the Demon King's Castle, Phelan would definitely know something.
At least, he should know who Danasuo was.
And why she had turned into that light.
With that in mind, Leticia set off on her way back to the Demon King's Castle.
