At that moment, Leticia, who was in the fields, had just finished a round of planting.
She set her farming tools aside.
Her once-clean sleeves were now covered in dirt, and a light sheen of sweat had formed on her forehead.
“Miss Sia, thank you for your hard work today as well.”
Mrs. Nashi walked over to her side, bringing a glass of fresh water for Leticia.
“Thank you very much.”
Leticia immediately stood up and accepted the glass with both hands.
Mrs. Nashi smiled and nodded as she watched her, admiring how exceptionally earnest she was in everything she did.
“Oh, look at you.”
Mrs. Nashi pointed at Leticia's cheek.
“You've got dirt on your face again.”
Leticia paused.
She instinctively reached up to wipe it.
But after seeing her dirt-covered palms, she silently lowered her hand.
Mrs. Nashi produced a clean cloth and held it out to her.
“Use this.”
Leticia took the cloth and carefully wiped her cheek where Mrs. Nashi had pointed.
But the mud on her face was wet.
Instead of wiping it away, her attempt only left a larger smear across her face.
“Hahaha!”
Floating nearby, Danasuo burst into laughter upon seeing this.
“Sia is still a bit clumsy at times like this.”
She drifted over to Leticia and reached out her hand.
Leticia glanced at Danasuo's small, outstretched hand, understanding what she wanted to do in an instant.
And so, she handed over the cloth.
“At times like this,” Danasuo said as she took the cloth, an extremely confident expression appearing on her face, “you still have to rely on your Danasuo to save this beautiful face.”
With that, she flew in front of Leticia, holding the cloth as she began to gently wipe her face.
The entire process looked incredibly earnest.
Leticia also stood in place, allowing Danasuo to keep working on her face.
A moment later, Danasuo floated back a bit. Looking at her masterpiece, she nodded with satisfaction.
“All done!”
Having said that, she could no longer hold it in and burst into hearty laughter in midair.
She was laughing so hard she could barely maintain her flight magic, her small body bobbing up and down continuously in the air.
“Hahaha!”
“Sia looks so funny right now!”
“Oh, Danasuo.” Mrs. Nashi held her forehead in exasperation upon seeing the masterpiece her daughter had left on Leticia's face. “You're teasing Miss Sia again.”
Not only had the mud on Leticia's face not decreased, but Danasuo had also deliberately smeared it into several strange XO-shaped patterns.
Miss Sia was probably the only one who would constantly indulge her pranks.
Seeing Mrs. Nashi and Danasuo's reactions, Leticia understood as well that Danasuo must have played another prank on her face just now.
She silently watched Danasuo laughing in the air.
Then, she held the cloth out to her once more.
“This time, wipe it properly.”
Leticia chose to trust Danasuo once again.
“Understood, Commander!”
Danasuo immediately straightened her posture in midair, striking her left shoulder with a clenched right fist to offer Leticia the highest military salute of the demon race.
After that, she extended both hands and solemnly accepted the cloth from Leticia's hand again.
Leticia closed her eyes, choosing to believe in her friend one more time.
Holding the cloth, Danasuo began rubbing her face again.
“A little wipe here.”
“A bit is needed here too.”
“And let's make it slightly more symmetrical.”
Mrs. Nashi: “...Why does it look even worse than before?”
Just as Danasuo completed her second masterpiece, a familiar voice suddenly echoed from the sky.
“Sia-chan!”
Hearing the voice, Leticia immediately looked up and saw a white fluffball diving toward her from midair.
“Sia-chan!”
Lin Ling spread her arms wide and crashed directly into Leticia's embrace.
Leticia instinctively took half a step back, then extended her hands to firmly support Lin Ling, who was clinging to her.
“Whoa! Did Sia-chan miss Miss Saintess?~”
Holding Leticia, Lin Ling affectionately rubbed her cheek against Leticia's face several times, pressing their faces tightly together.
“Lin Ling,” Leticia held her, her voice exceptionally calm. “We just saw each other last night.”
Although she said that, Leticia had absolutely no intention of pushing Lin Ling away. Instead, she adjusted her hold to prevent Lin Ling, who was clinging to her, from falling.
For some reason, every time Lin Ling saw her, she would cling to her like this. Leticia was starting to get used to it.
“Ahem.”
Danasuo coughed softly from the side.
“You two, well...”
“Uh, that...”
She didn't finish her sentence, merely pointing at her own face and then at Lin Ling and Leticia's pressed-together cheeks.
Lin Ling turned her head and watched as Danasuo repeatedly pointed at her own face.
“Danasuo, is something wrong?”
Danasuo pointed twice more.
Lin Ling tilted her head and pondered seriously for a moment, then a look of sudden realization dawned on her face.
Miss Saintess understood! Danasuo wanted some close physical contact too!
“Come here!”
Lin Ling let go of Leticia and lunged toward Danasuo with open arms.
“Nooooo!”
Danasuo turned around, attempting to flee.
“You don't understand at all, do you?!”
But before she could fly far, she was caught in a tight embrace by Lin Ling.
“Don't run away. Miss Saintess won't leave you out!”
“Sia! Save me!”
Held in Lin Ling's embrace, Danasuo's small body struggled frantically as she reached out toward Leticia, her face a mask of desperation.
“Sia! Aren't we best friends?!”
“Hurry up and rescue me!”
Yet, Leticia simply stood in place, staring with a dark expression at Danasuo struggling desperately in Lin Ling's arms.
“Danasuo, you jerk. You only ever think about yourself.”
Danasuo's outstretched hand froze midair and slowly fell as her body became covered in the mud from Lin Ling's face. Even so, she stared at Leticia with an expression of sheer disbelief.
“You... what are you talking about? Aren't we supposed to be best friends?”
Leticia turned her head away, completely ignoring the mud-covered Danasuo.
“I never once found having my face drawn on amusing.”
Danasuo: “...”
So this was revenge for having her face drawn on?!
“Sia! You've changed! You weren't like this before!”
Lin Ling continued to hold Danasuo, sharing the mud on her face equally with the Danasuo in her arms.
Standing to the side, Kainster had fallen into complete confusion watching this sudden scene unfold.
What was this? Why did this suddenly feel like a plot straight out of the Royal Theater?
A rift between friends caused by deception and betrayal.
One of them pleading not to disband the band.
While the other coldly turned away.
He had only ever seen such dramatic, misunderstanding-filled performances in the theaters of the capital. Why was he witnessing it again after coming to the Demon King's Castle?!
Furthermore, Kainster looked down at himself. Standing on the sidelines, he couldn't even blend into the performance; he was completely like an outsider!
Kainster clutched his hair as he watched the others continue their performance, his anxiety growing.
He wanted to join in too! He wanted to be part of this lively atmosphere!
Right now, he felt like a husband who had fallen asleep next to the stage. By the time he opened his eyes, everyone's story had already reached its curtain call.
“I want to join the band too...” Kainster muttered under his breath, then shook his head violently.
“No! I mean, I want to join the performance too!”
