Demon Realm—
The Silver Legion dashed along the border of the Demon Realm, their silver-white armor reflecting the cold light under the gloomy sky.
The runes on their bodies flowed slowly like living things along the patterns of their armor, gradually repelling the highly concentrated magic constantly eroding from the surroundings.
“That prince is such a waste of space. Commander, why did Lord Cary order us to help this guy?”
A Silver Legion soldier approached Bode, his tone dripping with clear dissatisfaction.
“I don't know, and we don't need to know either.”
“Soldier, we only need to complete our mission.”
Bode did not answer the question.
“Then why didn't we bring along a few disposables to scout the path?”
Some within the Silver Legion could not understand why Bode would lead the entire army directly into the Demon Realm without bringing any disposables.
“Can those guys keep up with our speed? Do you want to carry a piece of trash disposable on your back?”
His tone was not heavy.
But the soldier shut his mouth immediately.
Even if those disposables were brought in, they would only break down on the way due to magic erosion and physical strain.
But the Silver Legion was different.
The interiors of their armor were fully engraved with repeatedly adjusted magic runes.
It was equipment built by the nobles using massive amounts of resources.
The soldier wanted to say more.
Just then, Bode suddenly used a hand gesture to order the entire army to halt.
The moment the Silver Legion saw the gesture, they instantly stopped their high-speed movement.
The sound of the front-row soldiers crushing the ground rang out almost simultaneously.
Clang—
Then came the skin-crawling sound of drawing swords.
Steel longswords flickering with blue runes were held in the hands of the Silver Legion soldiers.
In front of them, a beastkin standing over two meters tall stood there.
“This is demon territory! Humans, you have crossed the line!”
Baroque held a stone in his hand, staring fiercely at the rune-flashing troop before him.
He stood just a short distance away, looking like a heavy city wall.
Bode looked at Baroque.
“Demons?”
Bode gestured to several soldiers beside him.
The four soldiers nodded.
In the next instant, the runes beneath their feet erupted with blue light.
The figures of the four vanished almost simultaneously.
When they reappeared, they were already closing in on Baroque's face.
The blue runes on the blades dragged dazzling trails through the air.
The moment the blades slashed down—
A bolt of golden lightning flashed by, swiftly blasting the soldiers away.
Two of them crashed to the ground, their armor scraping against the earth and throwing off sparks.
The other two forcibly adjusted their postures mid-air, yet still slid back several meters along the ground.
The runes on their armor flashed frantically.
As if rapidly dispersing the impact of the blow they had just received.
“Hey, hey! It's very impolite to start fighting while someone is talking!”
Samuel stood behind Baroque, surrounded by golden lightning, her blonde hair rising slightly in the fluctuations of magic.
“Baroque, there's nothing more to say.”
A fierce glint flashed in Samuel's eyes as three bolts of golden lightning erupted around her.
The lightning raced along the ground like three wild golden serpents, heading straight for the Silver Legion's formation.
Seeing the incoming magic, the Silver Legion calmly raised a defensive spell.
“Defend.”
A silver-white defensive barrier unfolded in front of the Silver Legion.
The defense blocked Samuel's magic like a massive transparent shield wall.
Baroque watched Samuel's magic get completely blocked.
He crushed the stone in his hand with sheer physical strength and swung his arm violently.
He threw the fragments directly at the Silver Legion.
Each stone fragment carried terrifying force.
A sharp whistling sound even pierced the air.
Bode watched the dense swarm of small stones flying toward him.
“Form ranks!”
The runes on the entire Silver Legion began to burst with intense light, after which an even stronger defensive spell expanded.
Bang bang bang bang bang!
The dense sounds of impact sounded like torrential rain striking an iron plate.
All of Baroque's thrown stones were blocked.
Bode observed continuously, the scout runes in his armor scanning the vicinity.
After confirming that there were no other presences nearby, he issued the execution order to the Silver Legion.
“There are only two enemies! Free to attack!”
The moment Bode's command was given, the entire troop scattered instantly.
The army formation, which had looked like a solid silver-white iron plate just a moment ago, transformed into countless scattered silver shadows in an instant.
Seeing the troop begin to split, Samuel quickly stepped up to Baroque's side.
“Hey, Baroque, can you still fight?”
Baroque reached out and rolled his shoulders.
His joints popped with a dull thud.
“Samuel, don't forget that a beastkin wedding requires beating you in a fight to marry you.”
Samuel was stunned for a moment, then looked at the surrounding Silver Legion and flashed a beastly smile.
“Then you'd better not embarrass yourself here.”
“Don't worry.”
Baroque bent down and grabbed an even larger stone from the ground.
He crushed it and hurled it fiercely at the surrounding Silver Legion.
Boom!
The giant stones tore through the air.
This time, the Silver Legion had lost the shield provided by their formation. Over a dozen soldiers failed to dodge in time and were struck by the incoming stones.
The moment the stones struck the armor, a heavy rumbling sound echoed.
Several soldiers were sent flying backward, knocking down their comrades behind them.
But before Baroque could press the attack, the soldiers who had been blown away climbed back up.
The armor on their bodies flashed with green light.
“Hey, hey, beastkin brother, you're not strong enough!”
A Silver Legion soldier stood up from the ground and twisted his neck.
Several more soldiers closed in on Baroque at this moment.
Blades flickering with blue light slashed toward Baroque's head.
Baroque's body suddenly leaned backward at that exact moment.
Three sword flashes grazed past Baroque's body.
After dodging with the backward lean, Baroque kicked the chest of the Silver Legion soldier in front of him.
The kick was like a warhammer smashing down.
The armor on the soldier's chest dented instantly, sending him flying backward.
“You're underestimating a beastkin's agility, human.”
When he stood back up, he found that Samuel was already surrounded by a sea of soldiers.
Golden lightning erupted continuously within the encirclement.
Samuel was extremely fast.
With every step she took, golden electrical sparks exploded beneath her feet.
A Silver Legion soldier had just gotten close when she punched his helmet.
Boom!
Lightning exploded along the helmet.
The soldier was sent flying backward.
But very quickly, the green light on his armor flickered.
He wobbled back onto his feet.
Samuel clicked her tongue.
“What disgusting armor.”
Meanwhile, a group of soldiers had also gathered around Baroque.
Those who had been sent flying quickly returned to the battlefield, aided by the recovery provided by that damned armor.
Their attacks grew increasingly bold.
The armor was even absorbing the magic of the Demon Realm. His own continuous attacks were actually helping them expend the energy that had been absorbed to its limit.
“Yo, beastkin, can you hit a bit harder? The boys' defense runes haven't even hit their limit yet.”
A Silver Legion soldier held his sword, his tone mocking.
Several Silver Legion soldiers around him laughed along.
They looked at the surrounded Baroque, seemingly convinced that his previous attacks were the extent of his strength.
Baroque looked down at his own fist.
Then he glanced at the soldier who had mocked him.
He exhaled slowly, establishing a magic transmission with Samuel, who was in another encirclement not far away.
“Samuel.”
“Yeah?”
On the other side of the encirclement, Samuel responded while dodging the blades.
“These guys' armor is constantly helping them recover.”
“I noticed.”
Samuel raised her hand and blasted a bolt of lightning, forcing back the two Silver Legion soldiers in front of her.
“And?”
Baroque looked up.
His eyes became even more ferocious than before.
“We take them out all at once!”
Hearing Baroque's words, excitement flashed in Samuel's eyes. This meant that next, they could go all out.
“Now we're talking! Bugs should be crushed to death in one go!”
The golden lightning around her body began to grow even more violent.
And the ground beneath Baroque's feet began to crack bit by bit under his strength.
Sensing the change in their magic, the Silver Legion retreated a short distance.
Bode stood at the rear, narrowing his eyes.
“Oh?”
“Finally getting serious?”
