Lin Ling crawled out of bed, the room still dim.
It must have been the Demon King who drew the curtains for Miss Saintess when she went out.
At the thought of what had happened, Lin Ling fell into deep thought.
Could it be... that the Demon King has actually fallen for the great Miss Saintess?!
Could such a thing really happen?!
Lin Ling walked to the window and pulled open the curtains, letting the sunlight flood into the room.
Looking around, she saw quite a few items belonging to Miss Saintess that had accumulated over the past month, giving the room a cozy, lived-in feel.
“Hmm...”
No matter how she looked at it, her life this past month was basically like a married life, hey!
Lin Ling sat down in the chair Ivelia usually sat in. On the table, she noticed a small piece of white fabric peeking out from beneath a book.
“Hmm... How suspicious.”
Lin Ling squinted. This white fabric looked incredibly suspicious no matter how she sliced it!
What... what if it's Miss Saintess's un... No, there's no way! The Demon King wouldn't do something like that, right?
Lin Ling felt as if she were facing one of life's greatest dilemmas. What... what if it really was...?
But no! Miss Saintess would... would never pry into someone else's little secret hobbies.
Lin Ling felt her throat go dry. That little white corner of fabric seemed to be beckoning her.
Well... just one little peek won't hurt~
In the end, she still couldn't resist the temptation!
Lin Ling's hand trembled as it crept toward the book covering the fabric.
Thump, thump.
She could hear her heartbeat growing louder and louder, like a King's Engine revving up.
“Here goes!”
Lifting the book, what met her eyes wasn't the kind of fabric she had imagined. Instead, it was a small doll that had just been started? There was also some purple fabric lying next to it.
“Oh... So it's just the Demon King's little hobby, ahaha.”
“I'm so sorry!!!”
Lin Ling stood up and bowed repeatedly to the fabric on the table.
“I hope the Demon King can forgive Miss Saintess for her offensive behavior this time.”
Lin Ling moved with lightning speed, carefully restoring the book to its original position as if nothing had ever happened.
“And now, I shall make my swift escape!”
With that thought, Lin Ling quietly cracked open the door. To muffle her footsteps, she even cast Levitation Magic beneath her feet, mimicking Phelan.
“Nice~ Miss Saintess has successfully avoided a terrifying death flag!”
Looking down the empty corridor, Lin Ling's grin grew increasingly creepy.
But before she could take more than a few steps, heavy and hurried footsteps echoed from the distance.
Along with them came the sound of Baroque speaking to someone.
“So, I need to head over there now?”
“Alright, alright, give me a moment.”
Hearing Baroque's voice, Lin Ling quickly ducked around a corner.
“Uncle Baroque sounds so rushed. Is there some urgent matter? Hmm... I can't think of anything.”
Baroque seemed to sense someone's presence nearby, but the matter on the magic transmission was apparently more pressing.
By the time a white head peeked out from around the corner, Baroque's figure had already vanished from the corridor.
“Is it really that urgent?!”
Normally, Uncle Baroque would definitely pop up right in front of her and lecture her.
Meanwhile, Baroque had already teleported to the border—
“Baroque, you're late this time!”
A gruff female voice called out from a border tent the moment Baroque's feet touched the ground.
“I ran into some things, so I had to make myself scarce.”
Baroque recalled catching Lin Ling's scent earlier. If he had delayed his departure even slightly, who knew if that Saintess would have tried to sneak up and scare him from behind.
If he had accidentally brought her along, things would have gotten incredibly messy.
Just thinking about what Lin Ling might do made Baroque shake his head, clearing those chaotic thoughts from his mind.
“Let's not talk about that. Samuel, what's the situation now?”
Baroque looked at the lion-kin beastkin before him. Her golden hair flowed freely, and she was already clad in light combat armor.
“You have no idea! Those newly arrived armored pricks are fucking insane.”
At the thought of what had transpired in Keith's camp, Samuel felt a wave of disgust.
“Forget it, I can't even explain it properly. This is the recording stone sent by Aliviel's familiar. See for yourself.”
Samuel reached into her chest armor and pulled out a slightly warm recording stone.
“Uh... don't store the recording stone there next time.”
Noticing her dark expression, Baroque quickly shut his mouth and activated the projection from the recording stone.
The projection played—
“Hey! Bode, who gave you permission to take my soldiers?!”
Keith stood at the border of the Demon Realm, watching the Silver Legion drag and shove several soldiers dressed in tattered gear.
“Oh, my deepest apologies. I'll be sure to pay closer attention next time and report to you beforehand.”
Bode looked at the furious First Prince, his tone incredibly casual and dismissive.
This only fueled Keith's rage further.
“I am the fucking prince! You are nothing but a soldier!” Keith drew his sword, pointing it directly at Bode.
“Well, Your Highness, do not forget that we are Lord Cary's army.”
Seeing Keith point his sword at their commander, the Silver Legion soldiers behind Bode gripped their own weapons in unison.
“Hey, what are you doing? Put your swords away.”
Bode waved his hands with exaggerated alarm, his voice carrying a mock tremor.
“This... this is the Prince~, everyone. Put your weapons away quickly. We wouldn't want to frighten our dear Prince~.”
Seeing Bode's theatrical gestures and hearing his mocking tone, the Silver Legion soldiers burst into roaring laughter.
Bode merely looked back at Keith.
“Your Highness, until you produce some actual results, nobody is going to respect you.”
With that, he shoved past Keith. Meanwhile, two Silver Legion soldiers behind him dragged forward a soldier clad only in tattered leather armor.
“Hey! What are you doing?! Let go of me!” The soldier struggled wildly, but a nearby Silver Legion soldier raised a steel-gauntleted fist and slammed it straight into the shouting man's face.
With the sickening crack of breaking bone, the soldier was knocked to the ground, crying out in agony.
“Ahhh—”
“Alright, stop wasting time torturing these low-born peasant soldiers. Just throw him out.”
Bode seemed completely unfazed by the scene. He even planted a heavy kick into the screaming soldier's stomach, knocking the wind out of him so he could no longer make a sound.
The two Silver Legion soldiers then hauled the man up and tossed him directly across the border into demon territory.
Feeling a violent, searing burn in his magic circuits, the soldier desperately scrambled to crawl back.
“Hey, don't let him back. This guy is useless now.”
At Bode's command, a Silver Legion soldier drew his sword and slashed it brutally across the soldier's leg.
Thud.
“There, Prince Keith. This should teach you a valuable lesson: useless trash is nothing but expendable.”
Bode's voice was utterly devoid of humanity, treating the soldier's life as nothing more than a disposable tool.
Keith stood by, staring at the soldier whose face was already contorted beyond recognition from the burning of his magic circuits, lost in thought.
“Why didn't I think of that?!”
When he looked back at Bode, his eyes shone with twisted excitement at the man's cruelty.
